Morning

Got up a bit later than usual, have to start getting ready for our church Zoom meeting shortly

Yesterday was good and productive.  Went out to a forest preserve I hadn't been too before to try the new binoculars.  They worked very well.  Saw a scarlet tanager for the first time, as well as an eastern bluebird and a red bellied woodpecker, which I've rarely seen.

Did some chopping in preparation for cooking today, exercised, and stopped at Kohl's as I needed new sunglasses (have needed them for a while but they only just opened) Watched a replay of the SpaceX launch, watched some Stooges, and Svengoolie (he had Dinosaurus, which was pretty bad but sorta funny)  I've been limiting the amount of news I've been watching too.  I know a lot is going on, but I'm old enough to have seen things like this before, and know enough to wait a bit until the dust settles before trying to get a clear look at the situation

Today have some cooking, shouldn't take too long.  After church I'm planning to use my bike rack and ride the prairie path for the first time this year.  Going to ride a more eastern part of the trail than I normally do.  Also have to watch the next episode of The Crown

Weather has been good this weekend, dry and in the upper 60s

Joe, yeah, I've been coming to the conclusion that I also have to go 'news-lite' for a while. When I read the paper or look at the news feeds on my laptop I get such a horrible sinking feeling. People's actions are so appalling, and the world is losing it's **** so much more rapidly these days.

The other day I decided I would look up some Broadway Shows and Movie Musicals LYRICS, and sing out, unaccompanied. I had been thinking all the words to The Music Man's "76 Trombones", and Bye-Bye Birdie's songs, Camelot w/ Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave, West Side Story, etc., etc. It blocks other things out of my head while doing that. Seems as sane as anything else going on these days, so WTH, eh?

Hope this coming week is ... what? ... better? Anyway, y'all have a good'n.

I'm following you all, but not sure about posting myself just now. We'll see.

I'm keeping up with news in newspapers. TV news repeats too much. People who don't live here started fires in Hollywood in the same block husband's restaurant was. Where I walked when our daughter was a baby.

We watched some coverage last night about the demonstrations in Seattle. But this morning volunteers were showing up as soon as the curfew lifted at 5 am to begin cleaning up. And I watched an episode of the West Wing about a fictional administration that cares about all citizens.

Did a quick run this morning and stopped at the auto parts store to get wiper blades. Youngest ds helped me get them on. I was heartened to see a church service in progress in the parking lot of the high school. People were sitting in or near their cars and the pastor was using a PA system. Many houses of worship have been doing online services, but I know they have been anxious to meet in person.

Weather continues cool, and hopefully the rain holds off long enough to cut the grass.

Amo, I feel you frustration with your new phone. My employer provided me with a smart phone but there have been many glitches in setting up so that I can actually use it. Last week all of the contacts that I entered 3 weeks ago disappeared, and I could no longer see my work email. And I need to go through IT to download any apps, including ones I use for references like meds.

Hello all!  Hope all are safe.

Couldn't sleep last night.  We participated in a JamKazam jam, online, from 4-5pm yesterday.  Then we loaded the instruments in the car and drove to friend's house, where 10 ppl (all jamming friends) met, maintained 6ft distance, and all wore masks -- outside!! -- just to jam together on hymns and gospel songs.  It was on friend's front porch, and it was a beautiful evening, though it sure cooled off after the sun set.

Dh and I were the first to arrive, and were met at their little dirt parking area by a herd (15!) of wild burros.  They sauntered up to see who had arrived, and a couple of them approached to sniff a hand.  Then they wandered away.  There are several herds of wild burros in the canyon in which our friends live, and they are quite harmful to one's landscaping and property.  But they are protected, so far.  There has to be a middle ground somewhere...

Anyway, we sat out and played for two hours, and since we were in the cooler weather at sunset, I figured I would sleep well since my body worked hard at staying warm.  Wasn't REALLY cold, but wasn't comfortably warm.  And then didn't sleep, after that.

It was good to see everyone and to play with them.  Our group is aging, and some have chronic health issues.  Some moved a little slower than previous times.  It happens.  Most of us are 65-70+ years old, these musicians in this group.

Today is house chores day.  It has been 80 degrees out, nice weather.  Bear is holding his own, eating and drinking water.  He doesn't tolerate the sub-Q fluids.  By that, I mean, he doesn't hold still a lot for it, and I am only able to get 100ml into him at a time, before aborting the procedure -- not wanting to hurt him with the needle, as he moves around.  Dh tries to hold him but Bear still moves a lot.  Anyway.  It is what it is.

Talking with youngest ds and his wife, via phone, this morning.  Nice to hear from them.

Have a good afternoon and evening!

Good afternoon.

I'm old enough too, but this has probably been one of the roughest years in my lifetime as an adult.

At work finally having lunch at 4am.  A nurse called in with a sick child. Then another nurse got sent home with a fever.  Had another patientnap AMA.  Again not a safe thing to do.

I'll read you guys later.  😀

Hello to all-

I am also limiting the amount of news I watch.  It hurts too much to see what's going on.  I went to a peaceful demonstration in my town this AM in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.  It was nice to see people come together.  Then we took a drive to have a backyard visit with DS, his GF, and her mother.  We got some take out for lunch and sat around for a few hours, just catching up. DS got another shipment of N95 masks from his employer that he is donating to a local nursing home.  He's not out in the field much these days, so he kept a few for himself, but would rather see them used where they're needed.  His employer supports the donation.

I'm in a baking spurt again.  Right now I have blueberry muffins in the oven, and I have the dough resting for a cherry-chocolate bread.  That needs an overnight rise in the fridge, so I'll bake it in the morning.  All this baking needs to stop, 😂.  So far my jeans still fit, so I think I'm getting away with something.

Joe-You scored the bird jackpot this AM.  I have had a male red bellied woodpecker at my suet feeder all winter and spring.  He's a beauty.  Do you keep a life list?

Sing it, Stars!!  Maybe you should record yourself, like Amy and Ted do.  I hope today has been relatively peaceful for you.

Herring-I hope you are safe and away from any trouble.  How is DH feeling?

J22-I hope you get the grass cut and your week ahead is good.

Dianah-Sorry you couldn't sleep.  Maybe too much stimulation?  100 CC of fluid is still helpful to Bear.  I'm glad he is still eating and drinking.

Tweety-I think you met having lunch at 4 PM-not 4 AM.  Otherwise you've been at work way past your shift!  I hope the nurse with the fever does not have Covid.  I agree that 2020 has been a pretty lousy year so far.

Here's hoping next week is better in this world.

Joe - am noticing that you USUALLY don't use punctuation 'periods' when you end a paragraph. Ending sentences with a period in the middle of a paragraph, YES, but usually not at the end. Is this some statement quirk or just something that you do?? And you're right,  Sveengoolie was weird.

My phone travails seem to occur because I just 'fat finger' keys. One needs a different 'touch' for phones vs TV remotes. And they're all so little and squashed together.

Am another one disliking watching too much TV news. Too much repetition, but even without all the repetition, the news is depressing. And then it still angers me when I see blatant disregard for distancing & proper mask use. And I think that TV should NOT be videoing persons who are doing the infractions.

I'm impressed with myself - I made a coleslaw salad last nite. Just pre shredded bagged cabbage mix, but I add pineapple chunks, shredded apples, raisins, mini orange slices and apple cider vinegar with sugar. More like a 'fruit salad' but I love it. I made a crockpot shredded roast beef the nite Thursday. Need to do something with a roll of polenta. Thinking of slicing & then frying the slices, but that task of cooking is an endurance issue for me.

I wish I knew my H&H. The home phlebotomy services are being swamped by requests at this time, so everything is backed. I have that new consultant MD visit Tuesday, so just waiting for that with baited breathe as I noted some new spotting way early AM-ish this morning. Need to put together a 'grab & carry' list of my medications, diagnoses, current practitioners, my Cpap rx, POLST?

Things are so dicey

Our part of town is safe. Husband is annoyed with the catheter, but no pain. He has a good appetite. He wants to nap, but can't sleep. He won't take the prescription pain med. He said, "It only bothers me a little and I don't want to be constipated. He has the news on. I took Pearl for a short run/walk. Inly a few blocks, but got tired. Then did squats and a bit with weights.

BC I am starting a list, just to see which birds are rare and which one are common but I just didn't notice

Amo to be honest I'm not sure I even pay attention to my punctuation when posting.  Usually spent most of my time correcting my many mispellings 🙂

Joe - just something I noticed. For some reason, it reminded me of singer kd lang and poet ee cummings. Odd connection.
