Good morning!

Nel, I had a coworker nearing retirement do that.  She had a really bad day and a doctor that was a patient gave her a hard time.  So she just announced it was her last day and walked out and never looked back.  I suppose it's hard to put up with BS when you are able to retire.

Herring, sounds like  you're enjoying the food and the history of the trip.  Have fun!

BC, happy anniversary.  How fortunate that you have a keeper like that.

J22, sorry about the headache.  Hope it stays aways.

Stars, OK, I'm going to call you Stars, don't work to hard.  Projects like that can be satisfying when they are all done.

Work was good.  We had great staffing and low census and sane patients and families.   Two RNs and a tech got to go home after a large exodus of discharged patients left a census of six.  One of them was me, so it was nice to get home around 4pm and relax and walk the dog.

Happy Birthday to me!  Sixty years young and fabulous today.  Sheesh.

Happy birthday Tweety

Morning sirI

Fairly quiet day for me yesterday.  Went for a hike and ran some errands.  Had lunch with dad.  Did some cooking.  Watched most of Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein

Did get a bit soaked by some thunderstorms I encountered during my errands.  Thankfully they ended by the evening

The usual church and choir today.  Going to meet J for lunch then we're going to buy some plants for my dad, our usual Mother's Day tradition delayed due to weather.  Hopefully the weather won't delay us again today, more rain expected

Good morning!

Happy Birthday to Tweety!  Yes, you are fabulous and don't you forget it!

Yesterday was a great day.  I spent most of the day planting my veggie garden and doing yard work, then relaxed on the deck reading.  It was sunny and 73, and was delightful.  Today I will plant some flowers, and then go for a walk or bike ride.  I'm off tomorrow for Fiance's daughter's grad school graduation.  She's getting her MSW and will be working in a therapeutic school setting.  She went to the same school I went to for my MSN.  I haven't been back there in 10 years.  They built a new building for the Nursing School a few years ago, which I will try to go see.

Joe-Hope the weather doesn't ruin your plans today.

J22-Hope the headache is better and you can enjoy some of your weekend.

Stars-Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I hope you can get the shed sooner rather than later.  Hope Nannie stays upright and leaves you alone today.

Siri-Nice to see you!  Hope you're having a good weekend.

Herring-Hope you're enjoying your trip.

Nel-Yes, it was the old Charles St. Jail.  They've done a beautiful job converting it, but demolished the old Buzzy's Roast Beef in the process.

Steph-More baseball today?

Ted-Are you mowing today?

Hi Dianah!

Hope all have a great day!

Fun, BC.

I actually stepped into the Charles Street Jail, when it was still a working prison.

When I was a journalism student, I had an assignment that took me to the jail, to interview an inmate.

It was creepy.

Buzzy's!!!!!!

Haven't thought about that place in years.

Used to see both daily, riding the Red Line across the Charles River, into Boston.

Ahh.

Enjoy the graduation, BC!!!

TWEETY!       Birthday1008-013-109-1069.gif

Good morning sirI, Joe, Nel, BCgradnurse, and everyone who follows!

I'm emulating Tweety and eating different from home while on vacation. Yesterday we had jambalaya, gumbo, and crawfish etouffee for dinner. Before that we walked slowly to a block party. There we heard a great Dixieland band, and then  latin music. The band leader was from Spain and one member from the United States, two from the Dominican Republic, one from Honduras, a Mexican two Cubans, (drummer and a singer), and two from Columbia. The street was full of people dancing.

A good time!

Glad you are having such a good time, herring.

One of the nurses on day shift, had to unexpectedly put her horse down, over the weekend.

He essentially developed CHF.

Her kids rode him Friday. He was fine.

Went the barn yesterday, and he had labored breathing, swollen chest area, but no temperature, no nasal discharge.

Vet did ultrasound, and area around his lungs and heart was filled with fluid.

His heartbeat was irregular.

Vet said they could give diuretic, but that would only prolong his life by months.

He was older horse, but younger than my Biggie.

Horrible.

I will hug both my boys REALLY tight, tomorrow.

Hey, a mostly quiet Sunday here. However, at some point in the early evening I made a comment that Nannie didn't care for. When we turned the TV on to her usual program-preferences...being true murder investigations and the like...

The show tonight featured a "mixed-up couple", as Nannie calls it.  She picked up her crossword puzzle and refused to look at the TV, nor would she speak to me. I reckon it is my fault for not being shocked  or offended about a mixed-race couple.

After she muttered this derogatory remark: "it's just not right!", I said, somewhat irritably , "God, Nannie, it's been going on for years already; besides which people are people, regardless of their color. If they're lucky,  people find someone to love who loves them back. What's wrong with that?"

No response.

I should know better, for so many reasons, to just keep my opinions to myself. Many times I have to compress my lips tightly together to remind myself to remember to keep my mouth shut and offer nothing verbally. But, well, sometimes my exasperation leaps out.

But a kind of funny thing today --- a friend from church called her and when she got off the phone, she said about this woman, and I quote: "All she did was complain and tell me about all of her and her husband's health problems, and she kept repeating herself. And she keeps pushing at me to come back to church. She didn't seem to understand that sometimes I just CAN'T go. I'd have to use my walker, and you know, I wouldn't be able to remember any part of the sermon. She is very disappointed in me for not being able to go. I mean, I'm 90 years old and I can't do the things I used to do.You know, just don't want to talk with someone like that; it's depressing."

Hubby and I exchanged looks, like, "Tell me about it!"

And blah-blah-dee-blah-blah!!!!!

You all make me want to travel and eat something that's not your All-American Standard Restaurant food.

My Grampa used to say, "It'll all come out in the wash." Too bad Nannie's is too big to fit in the washing machine!
