You guys did it to me! I finally, actually made a REAL pot of coffee. Been meaning to so many times when you early ones head off for your second cuppas. I have NOT made a pot of coffee for about 1 year+. A rare cup of tea, but not coffee. It is a physical effort for me to do so. Now I just have to wash the pot out.

But I did it this morning! Sadly, not as tasty as I was expecting. My dry mouth problems interfered. Smelled GREAT, but taste ... meh. Likewise I have a crockpot chili cooking and it smells sooo good.  My sense of smell is fine, but taste is altered. I feel like I always need more salt, but my edema would prob hospitalize me! I do without as it was just one year ago this time that I was hospitalized and rehab'd (place from Hell). I can taste sweet, like chocolate is fine and other sweets.

My NY resolution continues in that I'm still using present pantry items. Don't know that I'll ever make the chili recipe the same way ever again.

I guess we'll all be eating in more often or eating out less often. I was wanting to order in a delivery pizza. But I hesitate for all the new & now reasons. Also, I consider myself more like a shut-in like many seniors or sick folk become. Like the 'Boy in the Bubble', my contacts are limited so I'll continue to espouse minimal exposures however

herring - some posts like that show up on youtube or Yahoo.

Ted - I saw an owl once. Was in a big tree in our backyard - not exactly a wide open space. All the local birds were screeching wildly. I went to the door to look and saw the bird take off with the WIDEST WINGSPAN I ever saw. It was either an owl or an eagle.

Tweety - hope you keep the name 'waffles'. I think that's cute.

One really neat thing about posting here is I can get to use the 50-cent words. Like 'espouse' . When was the last time anyone used the word 'espouse'? I don't think I ever did before.

Think I'll go make some spaghetti noodles for the chili. I think spaghetti is used for Cincinati style chili. We'll see.

Our governor just closed all schools until April 7th.  All restaurants and bars are closed until April 17th for dine in services.  They can be open for take out. No gatherings of more than 25 people.   I think it's the right thing to do.  There is a lot of concern because none of the people at the Biogen meeting that caused the bulk of our cases were symptomatic, and yet so many people ended up ill.

Update: altho my chili SMELLED soooo good, I really couldn't taste it. So I added small amt of sugar. It tasted better where I kind of stirred it in. So I added more sugar. Better tasting. I could taste the sweet.

Dang! If I didn't know I was too old, this craving/tasting for SWEET things would worry me. Don't want to make any Guinness Book of World Records.

Wow, herring, what a story about the big "dog"!

I did order pizza and went out to pick it up (they had no delivery).  So we have meals for 3-4 nights.  Tomorrow we will go out for dinner with oldest ds.

Again: not much planned for this week, except getting music ready for Friday's memorial service.  We are happy to do this for the family.

No rain yet today.  Supposed to rain tomorrow, Wed, and Thurs.   We'll see.

Supposedly our county had its first confirmed case of COVID-19 today.

We are laying low.

Ted, I so enjoyed the elegantly performed CRV Etude, I played it once for me, once for MiL and once for hubby. Thank you!

Tweety, I want  to see a photo of your new 'Waffles', could you post her here since I am not a facebooker? I am excited for both you and SloBro; I hope they are instantly smitten with one another! w00f!

BCg, I know what you mean about social distance spaces not being properly observed ...Saw a photo of hundreds of folks pushing-pushing-pushing shopping carts into WalMart and it was scary how the only thing keeping them 'separated' were the carts ...  between which there were no spaces. It was a traffic jam from hell, of very intent people forcing themselves through  the front doors.

AND another thing: when people so called 'sneeze into their elbows', they sneeze UNDER their elbows and the droplets spew just the same as if they made no effort to stop it from being launched at others! YUCK!

I've done Private Duty cases in the mountains where there were large mama bears and their babies walking through yards. Made life interesting. Not so scary, was one apartment I lived in in Nashville, I was on the second floor and a maple tree was right outside my bedroom window. I saw 4 young screech owls just out of their nest, singing and going limb to limb. I would whistle my imitation of their chirping, and they would answer me. It was thrilling, and they didn't seem afraid of me leaning right on the window-sill. Some friends and I would also go out in another friends' sailboat, settle in a cove at dusk, and whistle and hoot to screech owls and barred owls, and get answers back. I do a pretty good guinea pig imitation, too, but you don't find them in trees here in the South! 😀

herring, that was one BIG dog!!!! YIKES! Interesting story! Thanks for posting it!

amoLu, I once babysat the children of  a woman who used the word ""grandiose" conversationally. I was maybe 15 the first time I heard her say it and it fascinated me how she could easily toss it of just like it was a word everybody always used! (Sorry 'bout your chili!)

Welp, it's midnight and I have to get up at 6:30 AM to get to the Imaging office for bone-density test, AAA test, followed by mammogram. Then I'll go get my nails done, and in the afternoon is Ozzie's grooming session. Biz-ZZZEEEE day!

I'll have to sleep fast, and not hit the snooze alarm tooooo often!
