Good morning!

I did not get called in yesterday, so had a nice relaxing day.  Cooked a couple of things.  I tried my hand at making jam on the stovetop (one of two burners currently working), a tomato habanero jam that was pretty good.  Took a longer time than the recipe stated to simmer down to a thick jam and I nearly burned it, but it was good and very fiery hot.  Otherwise I laid low because I had to be ready to go to work until 3pm.

Working today.  Off Monday and Tuesday.  Working Wednesday and Thursday and have a five-day weekend coming up.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Morning-

Had a good day yesterday.  We met with the caterer for our wedding.  She had coffee, fruit, and homemade pastries waiting for us.  That sealed the deal for me, 😂.  We've decided to just do appetizers and cocktails.  It's going to be a small group on a Sunday afternoon on the beach.  We're trying to keep it simple and keep the costs low.  Afterwards we went to the beach.  There were a few seals swimming off shore and everyone was watching them.  I think we were all looking for shark fins, too, although the beach we were at has never had a sighting.  The water was walk right in warm.  We stopped on the way home at a little take out place and had delicious fish tacos.

Today will be yard work, and maybe some pool floating time.  The pool is a relic from when the kids were little, but It's held up and I will keep it until it leaks or something happens to the filter.  Tonight I'm going with my sisters, my cousin, and my mother to see Randy Rainbow perform.  It should be a good time.

Tweety-Glad you did not get called in yesterday.  I saw the pics of your jam on FB.  It looks good.  Do you eat it on crackers or use it as a topping for something else?

Hope all are well this AM.

Tweety my mom woud sometimes make homemade jam

BC have fun, Randy Rainbow is hilarious

Didn't get to see the train yesterday, the crowds were enormous and the parking non-existent.  Stopped by the arboretum on the way home as I really like their gift shop.  Met dad for lunch. Rode my bike yesterday afternoon in spite of the heat

Today I have church and cooking to do today.  Not sure what else I'll do.  I might go outside after church if it's not too hot

Good morning from the mountains where we have smokey skies and it will reach 96 today.

Did I mention Spidey drove by a big fire off I-5 in Canyonville, OR yesterday.  He was amazed at the destruction and flames.  This area is steep and full of old growth timber and lots and lots of brush, unfortunately.  Not sure how it started but it started small of course and then just took off.  It is one year ago that we had those two awful fires here locally that scorched so much earth, homes, and killed people.

Spidey made it safely to Portland and met his sister at her work where she cooked for him.  Then he went back to her place while she continued her shift.  I asked him to take some photos but he hasn't done so yet.  He isn't like his paparazzi mom.  😉

Tweety, I love my sis-in-law's jalapeno jelly.  So good on crackers!  Glad you didn't get called in.

BC - some time on the beach sounds good to me right now.

Joe - sounds like a pretty nice weekend so far.

I'm not sure about my day, yet.  I honestly only had energy to do about 1/4 of what I need to so in Spidey's room.  I did take the curtains down - they are the light-blocking kind that I have in my room as well.  I washed mine once and the stuff on the back of the curtain kinda crumbled so I took Spidey's curtain outside, hosed them down, and hung them over the fence.  Truly redneck, y'all.  😆 But they are clean and back up on the windows.

Enjoy your Sunday folks.  I'm gonna need a 2nd cup of coffee although I slept all night.  ☕

Good late morning!

We had a good time at lunch, but Olive Garden is not my favorite restaurant. Husband and I shared a salmon and broccoli lunch. It was LOUD in there. too.

My husband'a Mom had ten kids. Three are still living at age 88, 90, and DH had his 92nd birthday in a couple months. They have played together, argued, and  loved each other all that time in three states.

Going to the gym today because it is too hot to exercise outside.

My mother-in-law loves Olive Garden, but for the soup and salad and bread sticks only.  She loves their salad dressing and I found it at Safeway about a year ago so bought her some.

Our local Olive Garden (Redding, CA) is usually not loud but Red Robin, next door, is very very loud.

Good morning all!

herring, lately dh and I will choose a restaurant based on the noise factor.  We like a quiet place where we can talk without shouting to be heard.  Also, if we are seated at a restaurant, I have many times asked for the music to be turned DOWN.  We are probably notorious in our area (there they are again, Jane, now watch: they will ask for the music to be turned down!).

Good Spidey made it safely. 🙂  At least you did his curtains.

Jalapeno jelly sounds GOOD!  Good you didn't get called in!

I prepared a variety of cheeses and crackers, and two bowls of fruit, and we left home yesterday afternoon (temp 102 degrees) to head to Wrightwood and our friends' home (temp 86 degrees).  They have a lovely, truly lovely home there, with a HUGE redwood deck (perfect for picking parties!) and beautiful wood walls inside, that they have filled with antiques.  It is a treat to just SEE it, and moreso to be able to BE there, and enjoying a jam!  There were at least two jams going, one inside and one outside on the deck, plus groups of ppl sat at the dining room table, or at tables outside, just chatted.  Potluck out on the table for nibbling.  We stayed till 10pm, then wrapped it up.  We and six others were they ones who stayed till the end.  Just couldn't stop, 😂!  It was good to see friends and meet new ones, and to play.

Today I need to pay bills and do grocery shopping.

Have a good one!

Afternoon everyone, slept just about all day yesterday. I guess my body was tired and catching up on much needed rest. Only problem is I slept wrong and now have this pain in one side of my neck that feels horrible and I can't really turn my head without horrible pain. I feel like I broke something but it's more likely just a stiff muscle.

Can't remember who asked in another thread but no I don't work rotating shifts. I used to work nights for years and from time to time my body reverts back to the night schedule. I don't know why but it does and when it does my days are chaotic.

Glad no one fell apart these past few days.

Anywho, I'm off to catch up on reading the threads.

My dh and I are HOH . . . both need hearing aids.  But they are too pricey.  So we choose quiet places as well and have been known to ask for the music to be turned down.

Old fogies rule!  👍

Morning,,just walked home from the diner after usual breakfast with ds. I usually get a plain waffle with a side of bacon, and bring 3 of the 4 slices of bacon for the dog. He will get 1/2 piece am and pm for the next 3 days. And of course, I had 2 lovely cups of coffee. Last night dinner with in-laws was meh. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and couldn’t eat the lettuce. It was not romaine, but some sort of bitter lettuce. Today will be a bit of laundry and a bit of gardening. Fitbit says I slept 4 hours last night, so I think a nap is justified.

I too dislike noisy restaurants. There is a local seafood restaurant that is highly rated but I refuse to go because it sounds like a high school cafeteria. I would rather eat in the park with a PB&J.

Not a fan of super noisy restaurants either.  There also has to be enough light so I can see the dang menu.

This aging stuff is for the birds!

Will second the lighting thing. I near missed a serious fall once entering a very darkened restaurant - just over the threshold. I was wearing eyeglasses that did have the light-sensitive Polaroid changing lenses and mine were a dark tint. It was like walking into a cave.

I still am on NOC schedule. All these years later. I woke up almost 2p this afternoon. I sacked out about 12MN, woke up to go to BR around 4a, then NOTHING 'til I woke up. I will admit that I did add back a teeny-weeny melatonin back into my pm meds along with a flexeril, half tramadol and 2 tyl X. I am better mobile in the morning, no hangover thing.

I toasted an English muffing and used jam my sisters made. They're into canning and gave me a jar of meyer lemon/rosemary and a strawberry/basil. They make a WICKED bread & butter pickle relish and tomato/herb jam and candied lemon rind. End of season bounty becomes an adventure for them.

I know I've commented here that I am techno-wimpy. My HHA just showed me how to program my DVD/VCR so I can start playing my best-est stuff,

Home for some 10 retirement years and I haven't been able to watch any of my favs. I've some of those sweeping classic-types and just plain favs like some vintage Disney, Charlie Brown, Christmas Carol, Rankin & Bass, Fraggle Rock, etc.

Maybe I'll have her show me how to e-mail. Talk about aging!
