Good morning!

J22, I had a weird financial relationship with my ex.  He was real cheap and I was the spendthrift, but he also made it clear we weren't to be one of those couples that pooled our money.  We both had separate accounts and rarely fought over money.  He wasn't so cheap he wouldn't buy nice cars or go on vacation though.  His father left him comfortable, but not rich when he died after we broke up.

BC, I agree it's good not to be the host for Thanksgiving.  I also agree some patients are getting a bit more demanding than they used to be.

I've always been a flexible person when it comes to change, going with the flow pretty easily. A good deal of the work changes I've been through have not been for the good, but I do what I'm told when it comes to things I can't control.

Work yesterday was good.  I let a nurse go home when we dropped the census and as I was giving report I was beeped for a new admission and then got another one. Both were ICU transfers. One was a mess and the nurse left me to give a med an hour late, a dressing change and a colostomy bag change.

Working again today and off for three days.  No overtime available to help pay for the new computer but I'll use my travel fund since I'm not traveling anywhere anytime soon.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Stars I hope Nannie agrees to take her meds and settles down, it's difficult with there being so much conflict and you can't even reason with her

J22 I hope DH calms down and gets the Christmas plans settled

Morning Tweety

Busy day yesterday.  More cooking, also did laundry and a few other errands.  Didn't get outside as the weather was cold and rainy

Today going to brunch with J after church.  Also going to a meeting of the gay group for the first time.  Kinda nervous I will admit.  Glad all of the chores are done, so I can just relax when I get home

Wanted to be productive this weekend as I have the convention next weekend.  Same furry one I've gone to 3 times before.  We'll see if I find it as interesting as in the past or if it's starting to get old

Rain and even some snow today, so another day to stay mostly indoors

Happy Dec 1!

Good work went OK, Tweety.  I'm sure you are enjoying that new puter!

Joe, rain AND snow??  Stay safe and warm.  Hope the Furry Convention is as fun as in previous years.

It is overcast but no rain is predicted.  We and "the kids" are going to Disneyland.  But not to leave till noon, as they want to sleep in.  Fine with me, for I tossed and turned till at least 3am then finally fell asleep.  Oh well.  Will have a good day anyway!

Gotta go reinforce buttons on dh's coat.

Y'all have a good day!

I'm awake, but still sleepy.

When I came upstairs to make my bed, hubby saw Nannie had just gotten up, so he brought her breakfast to her. The very first thing, I heard her griping at him...not sure what about, but they have been arguing for about ten minutes, her voice extremely tension-filled and angry. I did hear hubby say, "We are NOT going through this AGAIN. You are NOT going anywhere, you live here, you've lived here for 45 years."

I believe I'll stay up here for a while. It's bad enough this happens every afternoon and evening, but for her to START the day this way, it fills me with dread. You are right, Joe, there is NO reasoning with her; her dementia has her mouthing off about her (false) ideas, and she sounds quite self-righteous. Makes me want to puke.

--------------------------------------

Hubby just came up and 'splained to me that Nannie says that "someone put my name in the Sunday obits, saying I had died!" (Unkindly I thought to myself, from your lips to God's ears) ...Supposedly, she came upstairs and lay the newspaper on his bed.(she didn't). She demands it all gets straightened out, before she leaves! Hubby told her she is NOT leaving. And on it went....

Ozzie, poor little guy, has come upstairs to get away from all her  fussing and whining and yelling.

I reckon if that newspaper announcement was true, folks from her church would be calling to extend sympathy, but the phone has not rung one time. Even if we phoned the paper for them to tell her that her obit was NOT in the paper, she'd have an argument for them, as well.

This gets more discouraging than we ever dreamed possible. I see a doctor's appointment for her in the very near future, and then an appt w/the lawyer for us. She has not got the financial means to pay for a facility, unless the house and property are sold, which would put us out on the street.

GADS. No good deed goes unpunished.

Afternoon, all.

We're at the beginning of a snow-rain-sleet mess that will last through Tuesday.  I'd rather have all snow. Fiance has a job interview on Tuesday and I hope the weather doesn't interfere with that. His DD was supposed to fly out tonight to go back to school in Kansas, but she was able to switch her flight to 8:00 this AM. I'm doing some cooking.  I've got stuffed cabbage rolls in the oven and lamb tagine on the top of the stove.  That should take care of at least 4 meals this week.   DS and his GF stopped by for a bit.  It's always nice to see them.

Tweety-I hope there's no messes at work today, and you get out on time.

Joe-I hope your meeting goes well and you meet some nice people.  Will you be going to the convention for the whole weekend next week?

Dianah-Have fun at Disney!  Sorry you didn't sleep well.

Stars-I wish I had some brilliant advice for you.  This is a tough road for you and DH. Are there any Elder services in the area that might be helpful? Definitely get in touch with the lawyer soon.

Hi to everyone else who stops by.  Stay safe and warm.

I really enjoyed the convention.

Today I plan to buy groceries, wash clothes, and wash myself.

Tomorrow I plan to attend a seafood brunch with former coworkers and supervisors. I'm looking forward to it.

Good Afternoon -

It's snowing outside. Probably have about 3" on the ground, so far. The "prediction" (cough, cough) calls for a total of roughly 8 to 18 inches of snow by tomorrow afternoon. After I'm done typing here, I'm doing the usual "Three-Ss" and leave promptly to work. I have a 27.7 mile commute to work. Because of all the little town speed limits, it normally takes me about 40 minutes to drive to work. But with the way that it is snowing, presently, and with the roads being unplowed at this point, it'll probably take me about 1 hour to drive to work. So I'm leaving real early to make it to work on time.

Last night, someone said the "Q" word! (Darn them!!) It was busy last night. We all got through it, though. After work, there was the usual choir rehearsal and church. The choir sounded really nice. We've been working on this one anthem for a few weeks. There were a couple of tricky rhythmic sections to the anthem that the choir was having trouble learning. Happily, they (finally!!) got it! I came right home after church and had "dinner" with Amy. My head didn't "hit the pillow" until 1:30 PM, this afternoon. It's now almost 5:00PM. So, I got a few hours of sleep.

Happily, I'm off Monday and Tuesday nights. I just got to get through tonight. Hopefully, No One will say the "Q" word again! (Whine!)

Hope all have a Peaceful night tonight. Be safe, if you have to travel through snowy conditions.

Ted

Good afternoon,

Herring, glad to hear you enjoyed the convention. Brunch with the old gang sounds like fun.

Joe,BC, and Ted, stay warm and safe with that yucky weather. It's slightly warmer here today, up to 40. Clouds have moved in and rain is forecast. I just finished cleaning needles off the roof and applying some moss killer. The frost never really went away yesterday, so I waited to get up there. The birds are busy at all of dh's feeders. There was a downy-headed woodpecker on the suet and some purple finches that I rarely see. Mr. Hummingbird was zooming past my head I presume to get me away from the feeder.

Dh is stewing about something, I am guessing it is the whole gifting thing. He is saying he just can't enjoy Christmas without gifts, so he may just stay home. This is how his whole family acts when they don't get their way. I pointed out he is asking eldest to choose between dh's wishes or the finance's, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Stars, I would be tempted to pretend to call the paper, demand they fire the person responsible for this heinous mistake and demand they print a retraction! Poor little Ozzy! When my dad started trying to escape his care facility the staff said that he probably would pass soon, and they were right. They moved him into the Memory Cottage with the advanced Alzheimer folks, and he got really depressed and slipped away in a couple of weeks. Good idea to visit the doc. May be a UTI, or a psych med needs adjusting.

I'll be there the majority of Friday and most of Saturday.  Stopping by on Thursday to pick up my convention badge and hopefully (but not likely) avoid the long registration lines

Ozzie and I slept piled up on my bed, under a couple of blankets until 5:30 when he decided it was time to get up to be fed his supper. I kept my mouth shut and ignored Nannie. She asked hubby where her momma was and he told her "Don't start that again; I've told you six times in the past hour and the answer is still the same." She told him he was full of sh** and he was lying about her mother being dead. He said "No More!!"....and she GIGGLED and then said "ha-ha-ha".

Got her to bed at 8:20 PM. Good riddance. Poor hubby has spent ALL DAY with her.
