Morning

Productive day yesterday

Met the new dentist, she was very nice.  Cleaning went fine, no cavities, only a little wear.  And unlike my previous dentist, she sees no need to replace 2 older fillings with expensive porcelain fillings at this time, only continued monitoring.  So this will cost me less than I had expected

Rest of the day I did laundry, baked some cornbread, and went for a bike ride.  Watched Werewolf of London on Svengoolie

Today will be quieter.  Church then cooking.  Will run a few errands, probably in the morning as rain is expected in the afternoon.  Will cut some more felt for the new craft project

Will be rainy today, but will remain cooler, at least until next weekend

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a good day.

Dianah, that's awful about the fires.  Hope people and property stay safe.

BC, glad you enjoyed the beach.  Understandable about the travel restrictions.  We can now get tested for no reason here so it would be easy for Floridians to get a test prior to traveling up north, but I also think rather than asking people to quarantine for two weeks, they could offer testing there.

The covid situation here remains the same with almost always nearly 10,000 new cases a day.  The positivity rate overall is 11% but 8% where I live.  Still too high.  The death rate average over two weeks is at an all time high.  Never any good news.

All that said,  I decided that I would go to bowling and if I felt unsafe, I'd just leave or not return.  I think with masks and social distancing it would be okay.

Went out for dinner with best friend, and we enjoyed a nice walk on the new city pier, and ice cream.  All outside.  Was good to see so many people wearing masks compared to a few months ago.

Today I'm going to yoga and doing some meal prep and hopefully taking a nice walk later in the evening.

Sunday is a sunny day today, though it was forecast that we would have a good soaking rain all day.

Hubby said last night that today he was going to drive to see Nannie and bring her some of her favorite yogurt and some chocolate pudding and that way I could have the house to myself so I could putter about.

WELL, he used to do this very same thing when we lived up in the mountains...tell me he was going to drive down here to see his parents, and THEN...I was reminded of that when today, it got to be a little later and a little later, and I asked him, "Weren't you going to go drive out and see Nannie today?" His reply was, "Nooo, I don't think so."

I hate getting set and looking forward to a day to myself and then have it 'cancelled' at the last minute. Now I feel kinda crabby about it, but OH WELL!!!!!

Joe, I'm glad you didn't have to pay for extra dental work right now.

Tweety, How is your BF's foot doing? Enjoy bowling! Stay extra safe; I worry about you being in the midst of all that is hitting Florida HEAT AND COVID AND HURRICANES, OH MY!

dianah, You stay safe too. Your state is also really going through an awful lot as well. I am about to email my younger bro and ask him if he didn't think it might be time to leave California. He has been dodging earthquakes and fires ... I don't remember how many times he and his wife have had to move during this last year, maybe about 4 times?

amoLu, Today is National Sister's Day! Happy Sis-Day, Sis!

Hi from Mt. Rainier National Park! Cell service is spotty, but been reading you all. Weather has been nice. Did a nice, easy hike yesterday. The grandkids got to see a black bear, mountain goats, and a pika. The wild flowers are beautiful. I will try to post pix when I get home. Dd and her boys are leaving today, we are here until Tuesday.

Fire is now at over 12,000 acres.  Three buildings (two houses) and some outbuildings burned.  Most is National Forest. 😞  It is headed for a small community in a difficult-to-access area (only one road in) - Forest Falls.  We used to take the kids there to walk 1/2 mile to a waterfall, and then to play in the stream.  We were there one June when it SNOWED!  Lots of good memories.  Hope they can get a handle on the fire today.  Friends in the apple community where we usually play in the summers, during apple season, are keeping a wary eye on the fire.  They have moved their horses (draft horses they use for farming and wagon rides) already, in anticipation.  Dh says over 10,000 lb of fire retardant was dumped yesterday.

Here are two photos from friends.  One is earlier in the day, the other at sunset:

Yes, Tweety, how is George's foot progressing??  Loved the photos!

Forecast is for 100 degrees today, 17% humidity.  We will be indoors most of the day, though I need a few things from the grocery store.  We have leftovers, so we won't starve. 🙂

Have a good day, and thank you for all the fire-fighting thoughts and prayers!

Oh Dianah! Fire is so scary! It's been a long time since we were on the roof with hoses and ready to evaporate. So glad for firefighters.

Last evening we watched "Crazy Rich Asians." It was good with beautiful scenery, young dressed up attractive people, lots of food, and the old fashioned plot like a Doris Day movie.

Those fires are scary.  Hate to say "great pictures" but they are stunning.

Herring, I saw "Crazy Rich Asians" in the theater when it came out.   Liked it a lot.  Apparent the sequel book is out and a friend said it was the same stuff different location and was bored, but liked the first one.

Stars. sorry that your day off got canceled.  I understand the need for some private down time.   My ex traveled a lot which I liked.

BF's foot by his account is doing better.  Not 100% healed but better.  He has another bone density test in a week or so and he's hoping that his osteoporosis doesn't progress.  If it's worse he says he's going to ask for and expect they come up with a diagnosis as to why this is happening to him.  He's had a big work up already and they can't figure it out.  It is what it is.

Was listening to some meditation music last night on my headphones and for some reason started thinking one by one of my three dogs I've lost over the years and got a bit emotional.  Funny how things just come out of nowhere.  But I have two rescue dogs I love and life goes on.

Tweety, hugs to you.  Loss hits us at such unexpected times, and surprises us with its force.  My theory is, our animals love so unconditionally, that we give of ourselves in return.  Can't help it, as we are their caretakers (getting so much more in return for feeding and walking and vet visits!)  Then when each one, with its particular personality and habits, is gone -- well, we miss their innocent, all-encompassing love all the more.  Yes, time helps soften the edges.  But the hurt and missing them is always there.

Yes, the photos are stunning and scary.  Over 20,000 acres now, and more than 7000 persons evacuated.  0% containment.   Again: scary.  At least it isn't traveling as fast as the Paradise fire, which at one point covered, what? Three football fields per minute?  Scary any way you look at it.  Oh, and likely arson.  So angry to know that!

One of our cats just vomited a wrapper she'd eaten.  Now, why would she eat a wrapper????  Good she got rid of it.  Will have to check trash cans for any other same wrappers.  We have covered trash containers in most rooms, just for that reason (to discourage digging).  But she likely got it out of one of the uncovered waste baskets.  It's always something.

Scheduled for a Zoom call at 530 this afternoon, with the ds's.

Have a good afternoon!

Yippee!! Comcast came out to fix my cable. On the blink since Thursday - I was so discombobulated without my TV when I go to sleep. It makes like 'white noise' and low light for me.

I continue to try & clean out my refrig/pantry. I threw out some soft flauta shells. Dated 2018, 2017 & 2016. Also clearing out some old medications, and taking inventory of meds I need to renew' like duonebs & ventolin. The old meds I'm tossing date to 2014 etc.

Stars - Happy Sisters Day back at you, mi Hermana. Hubs might still be having difficulty re accepting Nan's NH placement. So he's ambivalent to visit.

dianah - those 2 same locale pix are breathtaking, but in a not-so-nice way. The pix might be worthy to sell to some photography/news service.

Fires on the West coast and hurricanes on the East. Let's all pray for the middle country. Does anybody else think the media & weather people have butchered this hurricane's name??

Flipping TV channels and just glanced at the blurb for 'The Simpsons'. Not a show that I really ever, ever watch too often.

But it is now season 31 for the show!!!

And I can watch Nat Geo again. It's Shark Festival time again. I mean how many shark shows can one watch ... but I like its mindlessness!
