Good morning!

BC, enjoy the weekend!  I've stayed lakeside in New Hampshire.  Loved it.  Funny that the friend whose cottage it was had all the windows open at night and slept in nothing with no covers.  I'm covered in blankets and comforters.  It got down to the frigid 60's at night.

Joe, hope J is feeling better.

J22, hope no one has dehydration or hypoglycemia on the long bike ride and that you enjoy.

NB, I think it was me that asked what you're studying.  Good luck to you!  In another life I would have gotten my BSN right after high school and a NP after that but I decided to become an alcoholic instead.   Oh well it's my journey.

Stars, I'm a bit disappointed in the donuts and chips for lunch on the run episode when a sit down lunch was not forthcoming.  I promised I would not fall apart during this stretch of days and I let myself down.  The steak was a rare treat and quite good.

Ted, I had a similar experience.  I had a patient that doodled a gorgeous portrait of a female face, she explained she was an artist and gave me her card.  When I went to her website I was totally impressed.  Also have taken care of a couple of widely published writers.

Stars, I'm really ashamed at my eating as I let myself down.  I promised myself I wouldn't fall apart during this five-day stretch of 12 hour shifts (one of which I was sent home early) but I caved during a busy day when it looked like lunch was no where in sight.  But the steak was good and a choice I sometimes make.

Day five of five and I'm worn down. I will never work 5 days in a row again.    Of course I said that the last two times I've done this didn't I?  I took my sleeping pill each night and slept mostly decently at least.  Will detox from them on my days off.   Yesterday was pretty good as we continued to discharge and ended up with a census of only six with one to leave.  The hard part of having such few patients is not having a tech.  So even having 3 or 4 patients without a tech to help with vitals, baths, turns, discharging patients,  etc. can really keep you busy in my opinion because one still has to chart, assess, do admissions, blah blah blah.

Hoping everyone has a great Sunday.

Too late to edit but "worn down" is a bit dramatic.  I'm feeling my normal robust self, especially after coffee, but am getting tired of the grind.  But happy my stove and SlowBro's vet bills are paid.  Ready for the next big money expense!

Tweety glad you're almost done with that 5 day stretch.  I've fallen off the wagon with my diet mutiple times.  I've found that as long as you don't get too crazy for too long, the effects are usually minimal

Busy day yesterday.  Had the fingerprints done again, hope they're accepted.  Also got a refund from the pharmacy and stopped at the store.  Met dad for lunch

Got to the corn fest without getting lost.  Finally got an email telling me where the environmental group had set up.  Initially I was very nervous about asking people to sign a copy of our letter.  But I got bored with standing around and began asking the people passing by.  And got a couple of them to sign.  Not as many as some of the other volunteers but I didn't want to be too aggressive.  Wasn't sure when I started doing it but enjoyed it by the end.  We closed up the booth a bit early and I headed home, watched some TV, talked to J and went to bed

Today have church and a meeting of the rummage sale committee.  J decided that we would just do the play and skip the brunch as his stomach is questionble.   Sometime  today I have to do the cooking for the week too

Weather was nice yesterday, and should be nice today. too.  Rain is expected tomorrow

Morning All,

I'm just passing through temporarily just to wave. Take care! Today is my rest day. I've been running nonstop all week and I'm tired.

Yesterday dh and I spent some time in the afternoon helping youngest ds and dil pack up the rest of their apartment, and then we took the boxes to our garage for storage, till we can send them to their new place in Ohio.  They were tired but they are young and will bounce back.  They were hopefully able to sleep on the plane last night.

Oh, and ds showed me a "spider bite or something" on his abd, at the belt-line.  It looked like a nickel-sized necrotic middle area, surrounded by 6" of cellulitis.  Looked very ugly.  No general fever but the area itself was hot.  I did the mom/nurse thing and impressed on him how important it is he get it looked at and get on some antibiotics.  They both agreed --- as soon as they get back they will do it!  Frustrating for me, because I would like him to do it NOW.  But they finished their cleanup task, returned a U-haul, and caught their flight home.

True to their word, I got a text at 0600 this morning (it was 0400 their time), that "I don't think it was cellulitis but they numbed it and drained it.  Oh, wait, the document says abscess and cellulitis."  Yup.  Good he got it looked at!  I hope he got some abx and that he is now snoozing!

Today I plan to shop a little in preparation for our trip, plus we need some groceries.  I didn't sleep well any time before 0300, and slept till about 0830.  We'll see how long I last.

Have a good day!

Hello, it's almost tomorrow.

I just watched Johnny Carson on "Antennae TV"; he had on Gregory Peck, Edgar Bergen, and "Lonesome" George Gobel. Other nights after Johnny Carson there are shows like Carol Burnett, Perry Mason, Bewitched, Dick Van Dyke, and others. I usually stay up until midnight before I go upstairs. Sometimes Nannie gets up and I help her do a quick bathroom visit and help her back to bed. Then I take a 10 minute breather of silence outside on the back patio before I go up to my room. I will stay up reading for an hour or two before I go off to the Land of Nod. Gotta use the alarm clock in the AM because I have a PT appt at 10:30 AM...otherwise I'd just sleep until I wake up....anytime between 8 AM and 12 N. Tough Life  😛
