I am hoping this conversation continues...was considering getting a gel manicure before going on vacation and now I am considering delaying it until I don't have any days of work left scheduled. My educator told us gel manicures were ok because they do not chip like regular polish; she never said anything about harboring bacteria.

Thank you all for responding to my post. I had no idea this would create such a stir. I really wasn't expecting this many responses.

Just a few words about my screenname, "Hott"; I chose it because I've been making good grades in my classes recently...Hott as in intellectually Hott not in the physical sense.

I guess if policy says you can't wear the "sheilac" or "shellac" nails, then don't wear them. I haven't been informed not to wear them. My facility says it's okay. Artificial nails and long nails are definitely not okay.
