Morning-

Day 3 of insomnia.  I've been up since 3 AM.  I took melatonin, but it's not keeping me asleep.  It's my Saturday to work.  I'm glad it's only a 3 hour shift.  I see a nap in my future.

So sorry your not sleeping BC.  Too bad you have to work.

Its Saturday night here 9pm.  Still in Osaka.  Took the bullet train to Hiroshima.  Haunting experience.  They seemed clear they started the war with America and didn't sugar coat it.  But boy did they suffer.  Amazing the great city that arise from such total destruction.

Again, will read everyone but respond another time

Good Morning -

BCgradnurse - The insomnia thing is no fun. Hope the 3 hour shift is kind to you. And, hope you get the nap in. (I'm a nap-taker. Have been most of my life. L O L!)

Tweety - I see you "down there"! You'll probably share your post before I hit the Submit Reply button. I've (we've) enjoyed the photos that you've shared on your vacation. Seems like you're having a great time.

I've been awake most of the night. Being a night-shift work, that's not unusual. Actually, I like being up at night. It's peaceful. I've written and sequenced (recorded) most of my compositions during the very early morning hours. Didn't work on any music, last night. But, I did further explore the many potential functions of my photo/video camera. (It's a Panasonic GH5). It's a powerful little camera which takes GREAT photos and videos!

I just got a phone call from work asking if I can work the Day Shift, TODAY, as Shift Director. Apparently the Per Diem Shift Director, who was scheduled to work, forgot to come in this morning. That person actually suggested that I work for her!! Not Cool! I said, "No!" I explained that I made arrangements to work in the ICU tonight (which is my usual week-end off) so that one of the ICU Staff Nurses can have the week-end off for religious reasons. My name is on the schedule to work tonight, and has been for WEEKS! I told the Night Shift Director (who called me) that the per diem Shift Director can get her "butt" in and do her job. I've known and worked with this person for a long time. She is a good and caring nursing. (Actually, she's now an NP.) However, she has a history of being forgetful. (She also has a history of being a pain in the "butt" sometimes.) Blech!

Nothing much else to share. I did read everyone's posts from yesterday.

Hope all have a pleasant day today. 🙂

Ted

Sorry you didn't sleep well, BC. I hope goes smoothly, and you get a nap soon.

Back in the 80s, I read several books, Tweety, about Hiroshima and the effects of the atomic bomb.

Horrific.

Work was good last night.

Heading into sandwich night, tonight.

Time for sleep.

Safe travels to all.

BC sorry about the insomnia, hopefully you did get some sleep.  Melatonin sometimes works for me, sometimes doesn't.  I've found Remeron helpful

Tweety sounds like a very interesting trip so far,I'm sure you'll have interesting pictures.  I've always found bullet trains cool

Ted glad you said no, you shouldn't have to compensate for someone else's forgetfulness

Yesterday was pretty good at work.  Was annoyed that our new vice president pointed out that a slide for a presentation I and our assistant worked on had the wrong header.  Minor change, but why would a VP involve himself in something so minor?  Hopefully this isnt' a sign he's into micromanagement

Speaking of work, need to set some sort of alert on Indeed, last week a former manager let me know in the next few months her company would be advertising a bunch of new positions there.  Hopefully better stuff than I would find with these recruiters

As I predicted, J wasn't feeling well after his root canal and we decided against going out last night.  We'll meet Sunday as usual

Today have a meeting of the environmental group, then lunch with dad.  Then I'll do some cooking and perhaps watch Svengoolie, he has a movie I haven't seen before, Son of Dr. Jekyll.

Might go for a walk this morning, it's cooler than it was but still nice weather.  Tomorrow will be colder with snow possible

Oh, I am a napper too. In fact lately, I am napping too much. I have a routine health check scheduled, I intend to ask about getting my thyroid checked. Eldest ds and I drove to Seattle yesterday. He amazed them with his endurance on the treadmill-went 17 minutes, and he had worn the wrong shoes. No major arrhythmias, echo was good. They are going to have him follow-up with a geneticist. We had lunch at a cute little diner.I had something called Eggs Carmel with  artichoke, avocado , mushrooms,  tomato, jack cheese, cilantro and chipotle sour cream. He had corned beef hash. And they had the most heavenly coffee.

The weather was partly sunny yesterday, but the rain has returned. Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, is about to start. Later,

j22

10 AM: Woke up to  LOUD Thunderstorms! It has rained off and on all day, along with some intermittent thundering. Just hanging out, reading, doing crossword puzzles, trying to decide what to nibble on when I go to the kitchen soon, to dish up the dog-suppers.

Perhaps I'll NOT nibble; Nannie just came out of the bathroom, describing in excruciating detail, the "dysentery-like action" that just occurred inside of her pull-ups. She doesn't know the meaning of "T-M-I".

Egads. I may have been a nurse for a looooong time, and have had to clean up my share of those kinds of accidents, but I don't find them infinitely fascinating as Nannie seems to. And truth be known, I am not interested in the least in what comes outta Nannie, verbally nor rectally.

Since you mentioned it up above, NOW I have to get a cup of coffee,  j22!  Probably it will not qualify as Heavenly, but it'll certainly be sufficient, as it gives me an excellent excuse to leave the room!!!!

Hi everyone.

Wow, that Eggs Carmel sounds wonderful!

Hi Tweety - glad you check in.

Sorry about the insomnia BC.  I'm in a good sleep cycle right now . . . but I know that insomnia monster is lurking.  Maybe with my kicked up exercise that will keep the monster at bay.  We shall see.

I spent the morning with my son.  We picked up his Nana's non-burnable garbage along with ours and recycling (plastic bottles/aluminum cans) and took them to the dump/disposal area.  Took ourselves out to lunch at Subway with the proceeds ($26.00).  Son dropped me off at home and he went to pick up a friend for hitting practice at the high school.

Today is Opening Day of Little League Baseball.  I'll probably head over to watch my nephew's kids play.

It is sunny and in the 60's.  I'll most likely mow the lawn when I get back.  Maybe burn the yard waste from all the pruning I've been doing.

Take care everyone.

Husband's Jitterbug phone doesn't always ring. We went tp get him a new one, but won't activate it until he gets home.

Doctor made a house call to step-Mom yesterday. He ordered a teeny tiny dose of oral morphine for her various aches and pains. She ate ice cream OK. The wonderful caregiver is trying to mix her Ensure or Boost with ice cream and freeze it to feed her. She is still alert and talking.
