Morning

Have a three day weekend

Was a good day at work yesterday, got a lot done, in a good position for next week

J wasn't feeling well, he had a late night Thursday with the retired teachers, so we skipped dinner last night.  We'll meet tomorrow

Today going to meet dad for lunch, nothing else really on the schedule

Looks like the rain is done, at least for now, so I'm headed outside

Morning-

Sunny and a bit cool, but will get up to 70 today.  I have a few errands to do, but we'll leave around noon.  We'll visit a winery in CT before meeting Fiance's brother for a late lunch/early dinner.  I need to throw a few things in a bag and I'll be good to go.  I already watered the flowers and veggies, and fed the rabbit.  We'll only be gone overnight so I can just leave food for the cats.  DD will be stopping by later, anyway.

Joe-Glad the rain stopped and you can get outside.

Hope all have a good start to the weekend.

Joe and BC, have a great weekend.

I had eight patients last night. Three are mentally exhausting, one is confused and fell, three are GOOD, and one is in between good and bad.

One got rabdo after ingesting meth. He is very, very, very, dramatic and full of angst. Just exhausting.

My 89-year-old is still with us. I just LOVE her! She is great.

Is it Monday, yet?

Safe travels to all!

Good morning!

BC, that sounds like a lovely weekend.

Ted, I'll echo Nel "vacation again???".  I know you get a long time off, but wow.  😂

Joe, glad you had a good week and are set up nicely.

Nel, hope things come along with the nursing ratios.  Will probably be very slow going but kudos for keeping the issue forefront.

I'm so frustrated with Sears.  They charged me another charge for a refrigerator with a warranty.  Instead of canceling the prior order without it, and I notice another pending charge for a third refrigerator.  How incompetent.  Someone I talked to on Thursday said there would be no charges within 24 to 48 hours.  But instead it went from pending to being charged.  I've talked to them four times and each time its "everything is fixed" and nothing is fixed.  I've even bumped it up the chain.

Going with best friend to the theater.  We're ordering in pizza and.  We got wheelchair seats to accommodate his broken heels.  Will do a few minor chores like change the litter box and take out the trash.

We're having weather in the upper 80's and low 90's and no rain.  Moving into summer weather.

Good morning from Tornada Alley!  Well, actually, nothing touched down but we had some absolutely amazing photos by locals (some by me at our ranch at the beginning of the storm as the clouds built up).  I put them up on my FB . . .I'll try to add here too. Quarter and golf ball sized hail (not at my house), rain, lightening and thunder, winds.  You'd have thunk we were living in Kansas!

It is clear, beautiful, by lawn is bright green.  We are headed to Mt. Shasta for two games with the traveling baseball team my son plays on and these are the 1st games.  Tomorrow 2 more but in Redding. I'm grateful for the time off.

Visited with my mother-in-law late yesterday . . . I'm simply amazed at how well she is walking now.  She walked around her home with no cane.  Took a long walk down the country road yesterday but took her walker for stability.  Her right leg still lags at times.  And again, still NO physical therapy.  I simply cannot get a big enough fire built under two separate doctor's offices in two separate states to make this order for PT happen.  But still, she's doing well.

Mt. Shasta has some nice downtown walking areas with cool stores, coffee houses, restaurants so I'll probably spend some time there. BC, I know you are going to have such a great time.  Good for the soul!

Tweety, sorry about the fridge issues.  We don't even have a Sears here anymore.  They went defunct last year and the mall simply tore down the entire building and started from scratch.  Not sure what is going in there.  But it was the oldest part of the mall.

Two cups of coffee down, time to get dressed.  Enjoy your Saturday everyone!  (Let's see if I can attach photos).

Good day,

It's rainy here today. Yesterday was overcast and showery, but I did get many weeds pulled. I have lots of flowers to get planted, but it's too muddy now. Dh worked from home yesterday, and took me out to lunch. I have been craving a Costco hot dog (sorry veggie friends) so off we went. And it was delicious!t It was not as busy as normal, so we did a stroll in the store as well. I almost got run down a few times, because of standing in one place too long to suit aggressive shoppers. And that is why I don't go there often.

NSIME, I sympathize with you and interacting with Nannie. I feel that way about nutty co-worker. She has a sing-songy speech pattern that makes me want to yell at her to talk like a normal person. And she is so self-centered and judgmental.  If it wasn't her idea, she is against it. I am willing to try just about anything if there is a reason, but she is nope, that is stupid, that won't work.

I am going to go to the cemetery to visit my parents and place flowers. They do a nice job each year with flags, but with the rain, I don't know if they will be out. This weather reminds me of when we visited Arlington. It was so somber.

take care all,

j22

Joe, I'm sorry you aren't crazy enough to wear the furry outfit on your last day of work. I guess it'd be tough to talk on the phone with that head-piece on, anyway.

BCg, I'll trade you our 96 degrees for your 70 degrees! Have a good overnight trip.

Nel, What is "rabdo"?

Ted, What is a "vacation"?

Tweety, I think Sears is somehow related to Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. I had told The Fargo clowns (a way while back) on the phone while I was in a Financial Advisors office (a witness!), that I was NOT interested in and was refusing the 'offer' they made me to double up payments for three months, because I'd already paid off 2 months of those payments. They had already signed me up for it before their offer was made to me. AFTER my refusal, it took almost 2 & 1/2 months to get them to actually cancel that whole thing. I don't remember how many people I spoke with ("Oh yes, that's been taken care of." HA! Right!) but they were bound and determined not to pay a bit of attention to me. I wrote a blistering review about them on line, and THEN they straightened it out. BUT! Then when I went through the mortgage (mortification) modification process, they denied me that, and instead RAISED the monthly payment by $15/mo. And that's when we decided to sell the house to one of those "We'll pay you CASH!" pirates, and move down here to Nannie's house.

Steph, no one could PAY me to live in Kansas, nor the other two states (Oklahoma and ?) that were torn up by ... what was it? THIRTY-TWO tornadoes that touched down the other day? YIKES! By the way, your links to the photos said Access Denied. / If it wouldn't get you in trouble, I'd ask you to drive by my brother's office in Redding and heave a huge rock right through the front window. But I don't know if his office even has a front window, so never mind.

Well, like I said, it is 96 degrees here and the weekend is also supposed to be a scorcher. I grew up and lived for 38 years with no AC; I actually did not like AC because it made the bones behind my ears ache. The hospital I trained at had no AC, but they had windows you could open top and bottom, with screens and splash-guards so bugs or the rain couldn't come in. But, boy-oh-boy, do I ever LOOOOVVVE AC now!!!

I certainly have no plans to be outdoors for any length of time today. Hubby got up early and has already spread a pickup truck bed full of mulch around the trees and the flowerbeds. I think he must be acclimated, but he said he hasn't acclimated since he was diagnosed with diabetes.  😯

j22, I had a hot dog craving yesterday, too! It musta been in the air! I had mustard, chili, and onions on mine, because they DON'T grill the dogs or the buns. If they grilled, as I much prefer, I'd have had mustard and relish on it instead. Why does everyone want to steam hot dogs?

I'll check back by here later. Meanwhile TGIF! (except to Nel, 'cause she prefers TGIM!)

I do like Monday mornings, Stars.

Rhadomyolysis, Stars. People sometimes refer to it as compartment syndrome.

This guy probably fell, or remained in the same position for hours.

He developed rhabdo, in his legs. Realize autocorrect took away the original h.

This guy likes to say: "I am so blessed. I really can't complain."

And of course, he goes on to complain about something.

You know the type.😒😉😉😉😉

To clarify, rhabdomyolysis is not the same as "compartment syndrome".  However, compartment syndrome can cause rhabdo if not treated right away.  Rhabdomyolysis is a syndrome caused by the breakdown of muscles into the bloodstream, and is often seen in patients that have lain immobile for a certain amount of time.  In patient's I've seen they monitor CK (or is it CPK levels) to monitory the syndrome and hydrate them like crazy to keep the kidneys from failing which is a complication.

I've seen a compartment syndrome in trauma patients from time to time and they are rushed to surgery to relieve the compartment in the muscles which is filling with blood/fluid  from injury and injuring tissues because there's no way out and there's so much pressure.

That's my layman's explanation from memory but Google is your friend.

Thanks for the explanation, Nel. /  Nannie also says how blessed she is and she can't complain, even though she was born crippled. And then she has to add "The Rest of the Story". Really would rather listen to those old radio blurbs of that guy...who was it? Paul Harvey. When I asked Nannie if she remembered his name, she said she didn't, but she did remember "he talked funny." Yes, he had a definitive cadence, but I wanted to say to her that SHE'S the one who talks funny.

j22, Your crazy co-worker and my MiL sound VERY similar. Does she make little tuneless humming sounds, too? I am extremely fond of silence, and when my step-dgt lived with us for two years, she did THAT all the time. She got it from Nannie, I'm sure. Hum a TUNE, if you must, but don't do those dee-lah-lah-hmm-hmm's all the time. AUGH!

A good example of her personality: Hubby comes in at 1 PM, all filthy and sweaty, and he said to me, "Would you please make Nannie a sandwich for her lunch? I have to go get some more mulch." Then, when he went back out, she said, all Southern-Lady-fake-humble: "Oh, honey, you don't have to do that...I'll wait until he's done outside." I said, "Nannie, I am here to help my husband who is helping YOU. So I AM going to make your lunch." Meanwhile I'm wondering what she would've said or done if I'd answered her, "OK. I won't."

Oh Tweety, incompetent Sears is to you!

Years ago I ordered a nice armchair in blue. They sent a pink one. When I called they promised to sent the correct one and take the Pepto Bismol colored one away. They then sent another pink chair. I was home asleep after working all night, but no one knocked. I called my credit card company disputed that charge.

Then I called Sears and got a supervisor. I told him that I had ordered ONE BLUE CHAIR, and received TWO PINK CHAIRS. The PINK chairs are in boxes on the lawn. Rain is predicted. I WILL NOT pay for these chairs. They will be WET is not picked up today. Take them away and hire warehouse people who can read and are not color blind. In less than two hours a gut knocked on my door and had me sign that I changed my mind. I wrote a paragraph much like the one above this one. I still have my carbon copy stating that SEARS sent two wrong items.

Too bad Sears went downhill after so many years of excellent service to generations of Americans. They could have been Amazon instead of slowly going down.

And thanks, Tweety for your explanation!  It reminded me of a bedbound patient I had once, who would go back to his favorite position after he'd been repositioned, the little rat! His legs became all drawn up, then they had them surgically released, twice! But those legs eventually got all drawn up again to the way they were. He was skin and bones and you had to 'floss' between all his contractures (or is it contractions? Guess I ort to Google that! I have lost ALL my medical lingo!) to wash him. He was mentally deficient, as he was offspring of his dad and his sister. The house he lived in had no AC and only one fan (also, no screens), so he could get pretty rank in the summertime, but he was THE sweetest person. Nobody else from my agency really wanted to go take care of him because the house was surrounded by junker cars and stray animals, it was hot and dirty, and his 4 brothers looked like DELIVERANCE characters, but I volunteered to take care of him twice a day for three days in a row, so I KNEW he received excellent care and attention. I just loved him. He was well hydrated most of the time and had never had a drink of alcohol in his life (I don't think so, anyway.) He'd been in a car wreck, which accounted for his physical condition.

So now I will go research rhombadoowhatsis , to see if he qualified....😄
