Good morning-

March is coming in like a lion here.  It's snowing pretty hard right now, and will continue for most of the day.  There's more expected tomorrow night into Monday.  This should have happened last month-March is almost Spring!  The birds are active at the feeders and Niko is chattering his teeth at them.

I was off yesterday and spent most of the day wallpapering my bathroom.  Thank goodness for Youtube videos that showed me exactly what to do.  It's about 3/4 done, and I will finish it today.

It was painful when the safe staffing ratio bill was defeated in MA.  The hospital industry spent a lot of money spreading misinformation and scaring people.  That money would have been better spent hiring more nurses.  One of the lies they spread was that there are not enough nurses to fill open positions that would have been created.  MA graduates about 2500 new nurses a year, and most have to go out of state to find hospital jobs.  It left a really bad taste in my mouth.  It essentially gave hospitals public approval to understaff.   We could have used you, Herring!  Tweety-I hope you were able to recharge a bit yesterday.

Hey Ted-guess who's coming to Boston?  Randy Rainbow is playing here on 7/28.  My sisters and I are taking our mother, as she is a big fan.

Time for breakfast and then back to work

Good Morning!

I've been up about an hour and figured someone was about to start the thread and waited.  Supposed to be a gorgeous sunny and warm day today and I'm getting outside.  Going north county to see a friend of a friend's art exhibit at one of the libraries and then going to a lake for a walk.  The county is a peninsula and really just a megapolis at this point and getting to north county in snowbird season is a pain and I rarely go.  But it being a Saturday might be easier.

I'm feeling refreshed.  One of my better qualities I think is that I'm really good at shaking off bad times at work and leaving it behind.  This period was particularly rough with the exaggeration by the surgeon and the lie affecting my morale.  But that could happen anywhere and I usually have tough skin.  It's just demoralizing to give blood, sweat and tears, stay past 21:00 three days in a row and be knocked down.

It's the first time in a long time I've actually looked at job openings at the only other hospital I'd work at close by.  The other hospitals are HCA owned and word is they are dreadful.  One even has a union that went on strike because of ratios being so bad.  It didn't help.  Otherwise I'd have to commute too far.  So on the plus side, I have five weeks off a year, a seven minute commute to work, and top of the salary range and perhaps better the devil you know.  I'm nearing 60 and if I leave, I think I need to leave soon to convince people that I'm in for a long haul rather than just a short-term until I retire.

BC sounds like you were very productive

Tweety glad you're good at shaking that stuff off.  I need to be more like that

Work was fairly good yesterday, although few answered or returned my calls.  Hoping this won't continue to be an issue.  Or at least not an issue until I'm ready to leave

Met J at one of our usual places last night

Woke up feeling down, in spite of it did cooking and cleaning even before I had breakfast.  Better now, perhaps hunger and lack of caffeine?  Might see the counselor again for a few sessions, given the job stresses.  Would like to see the same one I have been seeing but her schedule is tight and her hourly rates high

Meeting dad today for lunch as usual.  Will be nice since we haven't gotten together the last 2 weeks

Going to the closer bowling meet tonight, first time in months.

Thankfully found I only gained back a half pound since last week, glad the overeating on last weekend's trip didn't cause me too much trouble.

The cat has seemed hungrier recently, bugging me for food more often.  Odd, nothing has changed, and she certainly doesn't seem any less obese

Weather is going to get colder tomorrow, but hopefully after that things will warm up

Joe, hope that you're feeling better today.  The counselor I saw a couple of years ago took my insurance but I still had a $40 co-pay.  Was expensive when I saw him every week.

BC, I had made a comment to you but it turned into the funny font and then a box with a question mark in it (as did my last paragraph which I can't remember).  Anyway, glad the wallpapering is going well.

Good morning.  I was up early, watched the rain turn into light snow, drank my 2 cups of coffee, perused the news.

I was on the verge of thinking I should get in my car and drive 4 hours to my best friend's house for the weekend . . . then the snow started, which will get worse as the day goes on.  So, here I sit.

Started a fire in the woodstove.  The "boys" are still asleep.

Had a good visit late yesterday with my hospice patient, his wife, and met one of his sons and a grandson.  This man is quite an excellent artist, in wood and painting.  The wooden sculptures on his piano were so beautiful and the vivid colors in his painting amazing.  I'd certainly love to buy some of his artwork.

I was hoping for a walk today but doubt the weather will cooperate so Tweety, enjoy your day!  I'm jealous.

Time for a nice hot shower and will get busy with some productive stuff . . . maybe.  😉

Hi:

It rained hard all night. Still coming down now. We still have room in reservoirs so it is good.

I've gotten out my old exercise tapes. I have ten 20 minute work outs that are 24 minutes with the warm up and cool down and four ten minute that are 14 minutes. I've had them since last century.  I just looked up Tony Horton, who looks good and in shape at sixty. He must have been in his thirties when he made those tapes. At almost 75 I do some moves at half speed now. And don't kick as high.

Today I plan to drop off husband at his lodge, do 20 minutes of exercise, and binge watch for the first time. I'll watch Star Trek Discovery on ROKU.

Good morning all!

BC, good on ya for doing your wallpaper project!  What does the wallpaper look like?

Joe, can't make ppl call back, eh?  Wow, you were a whirlwind of activity before breakfast!

Tweety, enjoy your outing!

herring and Steph, it is raining here too.  Doesn't sound like it will be for a prolonged period, or heavy rain at that.  Any little bit helps.

I could NOT get to sleep last night.  Finally fell asleep after 3am.  Slept in, of course!

We are meeting youngest ds and his wife for lunch, to exchange final travel ideas.  We drive to Long Beach tomorrow to board the cruise ship.  We have to take separate cars, as ours will be full of instruments and yes, a couple duffel bags too.  Theirs will contain sewing machines, fabric, and duffels.  I know of at least four ppl going on the cruise that we are acquainted with, besides ds and dil.  Plus the band, we know them a little.  Dh has been in contact a couple times via phone, ironing out what our duties will be (we are to help lead the evening jams).  I am looking forward to maybe reading a book and being outside and on the ocean. 🙂  And eating.  And playing instruments.

I have been buying containers of a low-sugar yogurt, with cinnamon and vanilla.  Ran out of them but had a large container of plain Fage 2% yogurt.  Scooped some up, added cinnamon and a touch of vanilla and some pecans and fruit, and WOW was it good!!

Y'all enjoy your coffee, I will enjoy my tea. 🙂

Have a good day!

My old exercise VHS tapes are Sweatin' To The Oldies with Richard Simmons!  I started working out with those after the birth of my 3rd child, my little girl.  With my 1st kiddo, I didn't start looking preggers until I was 6 months along.  I lost all the weight quickly.

It went downhill from there though.  I think I gained 10 pounds as soon as my daughter was conceived!!  🤣 😂

Howdy, y'all...

I just sent my sister an email to find out the status of the weather up in Southern Maine. If they haven't gotten snow yet, it looks like they will shortly, from what I could tell on the weather map.

BCg, We have not only the jonquils bloomed out, but also the dogwood trees. I just know we'll get a late freeze to zap other budding trees and everything else. I remember New England in the winter; last time I was in Maine they had 3+ feet of snow. Seems I remember several snowstorms every winter that were heavy and long-lasting. Fun to go out at 2 AM and wade through the thigh-high snow. / You're brave to take on wall-papering; I can only imagine how frustrated I would be to do that. I'd have some 'good'-ish sections and more woppy-jawed sections, than good.

Tweety, hope you get your employment situation settled. I don't know what I'f do if I were in your position. Those HCA hospitals sound terrible. How is the alternate hospital you mentioned, is it decent, or decentER than where you are now? That's a lot of seniority to give up, but sometimes ya gotta do, etc...Good luck with your decision-making!

Joe, I hope things perk up for you soon. I hate feeling blah, too. Your cat doesn't look any less obese? Neither do I. Ratz! Have a good time bowling!

Steph, Glad you didn't get out in the middle of the snowstorm! The woodstove sounds nice. / I have had some tremendously talented private duty patients, and a few times stopped just short of drooling over the paintings and carvings, etc. Fascinating people!

herring, Ya know, I have had some exercise tapes, from Richard Simmons to Jake whatshisname whose show I used to record, also various yoga, tai-chi, and stretching stuff. My take-offs were good, and after about 3 days to a week, I'd let myself get distracted  and quit. When we moved I think I brought 14 or 15 exercise tapes, VHS, and CD's to a thrift store. When I think now of all the money I wasted!!! OY! Thing is now, I am not allowed to do any exercises except walking until after I see the surgeon for my follow-up appointment. And even then I am going to be very, very careful, and go at my own rate, well, hopefully for a longer period of time than I had previously maintained things!

dianah, Sounds like you are all prepared to have a great time on the cruise! Probably all I'd do is sit in the ocean breeze with a book. Oh, and eat, too.

So I came down to the den a while ago and Nannie asked if I'd been outside yet...Uh, yeah, I have been gone from the house from 12 noon until 3 PM!  she's got what hubby calls "the pooch mouth" and is using her little whining voice.

So, I initially went out to Food Lion to get Coffee Pods; they have them from $1 to $3 cheaper than at Walmart!

As I was driving out the driveway, I decided to drive to my nail place to see if they were too crowded (it being Saturday). Nope, they could fit me right in. The owner of the shop did my nails; he is good at it, and fast, too! So when I got through there I decided I would go to the Hair place to see how bust they were. They weren't too busy, so I got a shampoo and conditioning and then had 6 inches cut off, so my hair is a shoulder length pageboy. May go back and have another inch cut off to shape it up more. We'll see.

Nobody has even noticed yet that my hair is so much shorter, but that's okay, I'm not insulted. I remember years ago when my oldest brother got rid of his beard, and nobody noticed it until he mentioned it (and he was a bit p.o.'d about it, too!) three days later!. Our responses were, "Oh, yeah, I THOUGHT something was different, now that you mention it!

Nannie is looking at an old church face-book (printed photos of the church members). I don't know or recognize maybe three people, as it has been over 10 years since I've been there myself. She is telling me about all the dead and gone congregants. Time to turn the hearing aid down a notch!

Obla dee, Obla dah!
