Stars I pray for you too, I hope dh's daughter is OK and that he can find some relief for his knee

Was a quiet day at work yesterday, which made it all the more odd that I was so tired in the afternoon I needed some tea to help stay awake

Evening was quiet, got the usual takeout and watched Yes Minister.  Was quite stormy but not as bad as expected

Today will go birdwatching.  Will try out the new rubber boots as it will be quite wet.  Might stop at the farmer's market if I have time.  Will also exercise and do some cooking

Svengoolie has The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad which should be pretty good

Little rain expected today but it will continue to be quite warm

Good morning Joe!

Today I got an email from my cousin's daughter. A couple years ago I mentioned in a phone call that I had bought a pork chop for my husband to cook.  She sent a copy of her grandmother's recipe for smothered pork chops.

It includes some of my uncle's opinions on how to do things. First it states a cast iron skillet must be used. The onions must be Vidalia. (He and my aunt used to drive from Oklahoma to Georgia to buy those special onions).

Self rising flour must be used. Way back in the seventies he started a program at the church to feed hungry people. It was called "Our Daily Bread". He used to make pancakes breakfasts there most mornings. He once loudly explained who it is beat to use self-rising flour and NOT pancake mix.

Today I plan to buy the ingredients and cook them tomorrow. Yesterday I found out which relatives and friends want us to bring them some, and how many servings they want. Because I have only one large and one medium iron skillet I will use the big iron one to brown the meat and after making plenty of gravy I'll simmer them in other covered frying pans.

Tomorrow afternoon husband and I will drive to two of his sisters and my sister's place. I'll call and put the meat, rice and gravy, and greens on the porch. Wearing masks we will visit with them and their families and then go to my sister's to do the same with her and her friends.

I'll take pictures so my cousins, nieces, their children and grandchildren can see how much we appreciate remembering our beloved uncle and aunt while eating a long remembered meal.

G'day

Working.  I've had worse days.

Another record setting 9500 covid cases.  Deaths remain low.  Hospitals are stretched but okay.

And so it goes

It took me a while but somehow I got back here, 'round Farmer Jones's barn ... I permanently erased about 160 messages from the deleted messages and many more from the "all mail" category, and a whole bunch of rude, porny-type messages from the SPAM section. I had no idea all that stuff stayed on here; well, I've never been a whiz at computers, so it was kind of a surprise to me to find all those OLD messages. Also found my old answers to my sibs old emails, etc. Guess it's true that nothing on line is really 'gone', even the ones that were marked 'delete forever'. HA!

Also, somehow I am able to get onto my google acct inbox again and found out I didn't miss anything important. But, can't put AN in the search bar on google, because for some reason it doesn't want to search for anything! ARGH!

I slept until 1:45 PM today and only woke up when hubby was mowing the backyard, which my bedroom window faces. Nannie had her breakfast around 11 AM, hubby says, when she got up, and SHE fell back to sleep and was sleeping soundly until around 2:45 PM. She woke up having a pleasant conversation (still in her sleep, I guess) and then finally opened her eyes. After I gave her lunch, and she'd had about half of it, she leapt up to go to the bathroom and left a long trail of pee from her recliner to the toilet. She hadn't put on any kind of undergarments at all, so nothing was there to absorb it. Got that and her cleaned up.

Hubby has gone to get deer-corn and birdseed.

I don't have actual real PAIN, but a heavy-ish ache sometimes, in my right lower back and hip. The plain ExStrTylenol works okay, though. I am 'saving' the 9 Hydrocodone tablets I have for when I REALLY need it. But, y'know, sometimes when I am up and walking I have no aching at all. I will be glad to get a look at my scan next week to see what changes have taken place. This all pretty much sucks rotten donkey eggs (as my bro used to say when he was about ten years old).

I see amoLu has just left an entry here, so I'll switch over to find out what exciting stuff is going on (or not) in her location. Guess Ill leave my laptop on AN for a while so I don't have to make that long indirect trek to get back here.

Three more weeks left of this "Mercury Retrograde".Blah.

Hullo. Gray, cool day here and I'm not feeling motivated, at all. That is weird, because I had a great run this morning which usually invigorates me, but not today. I came home yesterday feeling yucky. I was unhappy with the crazy one, but more so with the powers that be that let her do what ever she wants and I get to clean up behind her. I also had a headache (get them every day now) and my arm hurt where the CT dye was injected. And I got a email from the union saying my employer is expected all nurses to take a 32 hours of furlough time in the month of July. Which is weird, because they just hired 2 more nurses. So I ate a snack when I got home, and drank a beer, and then something I never do, had a second beer. After that, I just couldn't keep my eyes open and laid down for a nap.  I woke up thinking it was the next day, and looked at the time and couldn't believe I'd slept 12 hours! Well, I didn't. I slept 1 hour, 😂. But I got up and had some left over chicken tiki masala for dinner, and went back to bed.

Herring, the pork chops sound wonderful. Growing up, my father would never eat pork, so my mother never cooked it. A neighbor would bring over a cooked pork chop for my mom occasionally and I thought it tasted amazing. Mom said dad ate so much salt pork when he was young that he wouldn't never eat it again.

Sinbad! I remember seeing those movies as a child and loving them. Perhaps I will check out Svengoolie tonight.

Tweety, when I read your posts it makes me afraid for my old co-workers at the hospital. The positives in our county are not needing acute care, but I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. On Facebook people are bragging about how they are beating the corona virus as they build herd immunity. Foolish, in my opinion.

Hang in there Stars. Hi Amo, and Dianah and Ted.

Afternoon, all.

I'm sad to learn of Esme's death.  I hope she is at peace now.

It's been humid and rainy here.  We badly need the rain, so I'm not complaining.  It was a very busy week.  My NP student finished her rotation, and I now have a PA student to precept.  I do enjoy teaching, so it's not a burden.

DD and her BF stopped by today.  I hadn't seen her since Mother's Day, except for a cameo appearance on a work Zoom meeting yesterday.  She is working part time at my practice, helping the office manager and maintaining our social media stuff.  I think she really wanted to see the new kitten, not me.  Speaking of which, Poppy and Niko are getting along well.   I'm happy about that.

I got ambitious this afternoon and made a big pan of spanikopita, Greek spinach pie.  We'll have that for dinner tonight with a watermelon-feta cheese salad.

NSIME-I'm sorry to hear about DH's DD.  I do hope they caught it in time.  I hope your pain is better and Nannie is quiet.

Dianah-I loved your photos.  Sounds like you had a great trip.

Joe-Did you see any good birds today?

Herring-The pork chops sound delicious.  I'm sure your family will be appreciative.

Tweety-The news from Florida isn't good.  Please stay safe.

Hi Amo-Hope you're doing ok today.

J22-I've had that same experience with CT dye.  It really does feel like you're going to wet yourself!  I hope the headaches are just temporary.  When will you get the CT results?

Hello to everyone else who stops by.  Have a good Saturday !

They were available to my PCP yesterday afternoon. But she is so unreliable, I doubt I will know anything before the end of next week. I may ask our TB doc to take a peek on Wednesday, if she is comfortable with that.

And spanikopita sounds wonderful.

I saw a bird I couldn't quite identify, think it was a juvenile red bellied woodpecker.  Often the birds don't look like they do in the guide book.

Also a bunch of cedar waxwings

Amo, thanks for letting us know about ESME.  So sad.  She was younger than me.

BC, glad to hear the kitties are getting along.

J22, that is a good nap when you think you've slept all night but it's only been an hour.  Funny I don't see anyone on my Facebook bragging about helping with herd immunity.  In fact only one friend actually has had it and he was quite sick for a while.  The rest of my friends are lecturing me for some of the things I do.  I do wish people would understand that even with a very low death rate with herd immunity, about 75% of us infect, that is still over 2 million dead.  Are they willing to kill 2 million people for herd immunity?  Seems like looking for a vaccine is better idea, but that's just me.

Hello all!  The food and fixings sound so yummy!  herring, I'm sure the family will appreciate your thoughtfulness!

Yes, amoLucia, thank you for the alert about Esme's passing.  So very sad.

Tweety, agree with pursuing a vaccine compared w/herd immunity.  Seems like positive tests are up (because of more testing???) but deaths are not increasing at the same rate.  But, too, it seems a lot of ppl do not put much store in what science reveals re: spreading Covid-19  and wearing masks and decreasing exposure.  Ya just can't talk to some ppl.

nurseJ22, hope you can find out soon what the results of the CT are, and can start some treatment.

No Stars, hope the pain continues to recede, and Nannie naps WELL each day!

We participated in a Zoom Sabbath School this morning, then around 2pm drove almost an hour, back up to the campground (we just left it yesterday!) to meet up with a small group that arrived on Thurs.  They heard us playing and asked for more, so we went back up and played 1.5-2 hr.  It was really nice to be back up at the campground, and the ppl appeared to enjoy the music.  They wanted mainly gospel music so that's what we did.

Stopped by the steakhouse on our way home and had a nice dinner (with lots of leftovers!).  Saw two families we know, was good to visit a little with them!   We are relaxing this evening, though I do have my scrubs in the washer, getting ready for the (dreaded) Monday back at work.  Hope I remember all my passwords. 😉 😉  😄

Y'all have a good evening, see you tomorrow!
