Good Morning!

J22, oh you're talking about personnel file.  I didn't know that we could add stuff to it.  I'd be curious to see mine.  My reviews have been pretty good and no write ups, but I'm sure I haven't gotten away without a patient complaint.  As far as the tramadol incident goes, I documented what I did truthfully.  If it comes back to bite me so be it.  I don't mind taking the heat.  Being busy and short staffed would be a factor, but isn't going to hold up in a mistake.  A mistake is a mistake.  I do like that our incident reporting system when we report falls and other errors there is a question "was staffing adequate".

I do worry sometimes that as I age and my manager retires, my new manager might be a bit more hard nose when it comes to such things.  My mind says "it was an honest mistake on a very busy day, no harm came and I returned it, albeit not in real time but three hours later, and the patient was discharged home by then.  I'm not afraid to face consequences of an honest mistake and learn from them.  It's the story of my life.

Although perhaps I should keep a personal journal of work things for future reference.  (I think Herring did this.)

Working a weird schedule...this weekend...off Monday, and then working Tuesday and Thursday...afterwhich I have a five-day weekend.  One of my co-workers that's a charge nurse on my opposite days is in clinicals for NP and needed me to switch.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning

Fairly decent day at work, steadily busy.  More changes, but so far no additional work for me.  We'll see what happens next

Exercised and worked on my cross stitch last night.  Getting better at the more I do it.

Printed some pics of J and the cat and got frames for them so I can put them on my desk.  Need a plant too, will likely get one today

Meeting a longtime friend for brunch today, haven't seen him since before Christmas.  Will be nice to catch up

Will try to get outside before then.  Going to be warm today but not as warm as yesterday

Good morning-

I'm waiting for a break in the rain so I can get out for a walk.  I could go to the gym, but I like to exercise outdoors in the summer.  I've been slacking this past week due to getting out of work late and some GI issues.  I'm hoping both have calmed down and I can get back to a regular exercise schedule.

I have a hair appointment later this AM, and then we're going to go look for some furniture. We just had the hardwood floors on the second floor sanded and varnished, and we want to move our bedroom upstairs, but we discovered that my large dresser cannot be manoeuvered around a tight corner and up the stairs.  We'll have to leave it in the downstairs soon to be guest room, and get something for upstairs.  It's not exactly in the budget, but we'll figure it out.  We're meeting friends for dinner later.

Joe-I hope you have a nice time with your friend at brunch.

Hope all have a great day.

Good Afternoon!

Just a warm but quick hello. . .

Work in the teeny-tiny ICU was "Q" last night. As for the ER?!? That's another story. Spent the first few hours in the E.R., helping them out. Afterward, went back up to the peace and "Q" of the ICU.

While at work, received texts from my youngest step-brother. His Dad's (second) wife passed away last night at her home. She was in Hospice. He was with her until the end. Sadly, his  brother, (my younger step-brother), was there too, but really, really, really drunk. Sadly, it seems that he's an angry drunk, "trashing" the house, "kicking and punching the walls". My youngest step-brother needed to vent. Besides texting (which I always find kind of weird), we also talked on the phone. Thank goodness the ICU was "Q"! I encouraged him to call the police. For good or for bad, he was reluctant to do that. It seems that our drunk brother finally fell asleep in a drunken stupor. Surreally enough, Hospice hadn't picked up the body yet, at the time of our texting and phone calls to each other. To be honest, I do not know if the drunken brother gets this way often, or if this was a rare occurrence to help deal with an emotional situation. But it scared our youngest brother. (For a little background, the youngest step-brother is in his later 40s, and the 2nd to the youngest and drunken step-brother is around 52 years old.) (They're not "young" anymore.) Their father passed away only a few weeks ago. Without a doubt, this is a tough time for them. I did speak to both brothers on the phone last night. The drunken was not that angry drunk at that point. He was "just" drunk. I'm glad that the "youngest" brother reached out.

It was a surreal night at work. . . in the "Q" ICU. . .

Been texting the larger and extended family this morning. It seems that the "youngest" left the house and brother behind for calm and to regroup.

I'm going back to bed for second sleep. Hopefully it is really "Q" tonight.

Ted

Ted: I'm sorry. I've read your posts over the years and know she was a good woman who was loved.

I'm doing yard work again today. I'll try to get it done before it gets too hot.

Aftah-noooon, y'all--

Tweety, that IS a weird schedule you have this week. I know you'll be looking forward to that long weekend! Working every other day doesn't really let you take care of things and get in some rest and leisure in.

Joe, Sounds like a nice day you've got lined up....although by this time it's probably half over! Anyway, hope the brunch 'reunion' is/was a good visit.

BCg, Hope your GI and furniture issues get resolved well and quickly.

Hey, sirI, Steph and herring! And j22 and dianah, who usually post later than I do.

TED! My gosh, it was a good thing the ICU = 'Q' last night, with the ER being so busy and then step-brothers' woes. Sad to hear about their mother passing, and hairy to read about the drunken rage going on at their house. Whew! Some drunks can get pretty scary when they get out of hand.

We had a heavy downpour of rain last night, for about 30-45 minutes, and you'd think it would've cut some of the humidity, but ALAS! T'was not to be so. Today and the next three will be hazy, hot, and humid, Tra-La!

Hubby, this morning, mowed the lawn AGAIN, trimmed, edged, and used the blower. UGH. Apparently my husband just likes to sweat and be covered with shreds of grass. When he came inside and got a cold drink, he went to the door to go out and smoke a cigarette. Then Nannie said what she ALWAYS says when he goes toward the door, "Where ya goin', honey?" I don't think it is totally due to her dementia that she asks that. I want to say things like, "What's your best guess?", and "I give up; where?", and  "Hawaii" or "Kalamazoo". It would aggravate the pee-water out of me if she asked me stuff like that all. the. time. ALL! THE! TIME! Why she has to keep such close track of him and everything he might do or does, is beyond me. It's not like he disappears or anything; he IS around the house somewhere ... outside working on the yard, sitting + watching the birds or talking with a neighbor , or upstairs taking a nap. If he does go off in the car he always says so. Today when he came inside, Nannie said, "Do you want me to fix you any lunch, baby?" She hasn't done anything at all in the kitchen in the year since I moved in, so I don't know where THAT offer came from. I think if she was my mother, I'd be crazy, or living far, far away!

Ballgame is on at 4 PM. Last night Nannie said it was stupid that they had 4 men on first base at the same time. Well, it was the 1st base ump, the first base coach, the first base player, and the guy that just hit a single run to first base. She just didn't understand, she said, how they can keep score with that kind of a 'mess' going on. She also has a hard time with the re-plays shown from several camera angles, or someone stealing a base. Poor, poor Nannie. Much as she loved (and loves, SOMETIMES), watching Atlanta play baseball, she gets all mired-up and ends up going to bed, disgusted, before the end of the game. One funny thing is, EVERY time she sees Dansby Swanson, she'll say, "HE used to play with the Braves..."  Yup, and he still does! Every game!  (smh).

Welp, that's about it for now...

Y'all enjoy the rest  (or work) of the weekend as best you can----
