Morning

Anticlimactic day yesterday, for a final day.  Made a few calls in the morning.  In the afternoon packed up my equipment and took it and my ID to the office.  Supervisor wasn't in so I left those in her office.  Asked the employee replacing me if she had any questions before I left, she didn't.  And that was that

Ran a few errands and had dinner with J as usual

Learning hand stitching and might need some resources, having problems with making my stitching even and level.  Do like it better than crochet or knitting

Today meeting dad for lunch as usual.  Also it's the first day of the local farmer's market.  Might get outside for a walk too

Lucked out with the weather, the rain is now expected to start in the afternoon instead of the morning.  Am a little tired of all the rain we've had this month

Morning-

Headed out to Philly in about an hour or so.  It should take about 4.5 hours, but there's a lot of construction on the way through CT and NY.  It might take closer to 6 hours.  We'll be going to a barbecue at the home of the groom's parents tonight, and the wedding is tomorrow at noon.  I'm hoping we can be back on the road by 4 PM Sunday, and home by 10 PM.  It's a long drive for an overnight, but fiance really wants to go.  The weather is supposed to be beautiful.

Joe-Congrats on finishing up at your old job!  Enjoy your weekend!

Hope all have a great weekend!

Hello all.

Work was okay. Just two more nights!!!!!

My Italian friend, and me, and another nurse, took a quick, Belief-O-Matic quiz, which tells you which religion best suits you.

Not surprisingly, me and my Italian friend came up as Secular Humanists.

Other religions that came up for us; Liberial Quakerism, Scientology, Christian Science and Reform Judaism.

It was a fun exercise.

Sunny and bright and low 80s, predicated today.

Perfect day.

I will go to sleep now.

It rained some last night. Nice!

I wish us all a good day this Saturday. And for Lil Nel, sane patients.

Joe, maybe you would like doing embroidery?  It's hand stitching, yes, but fancy stuff with many intricate stitches.

Good morning all!

Tweety, that salad looked good, yet my brain said "watermelon and red onion????"  Will trust you, that it did taste good!  Thanks for the recipe!

BC, safe travels and enjoy all the festivities!

Lil Nel, hope your work weekend isn't too bad!  And YAY! to look forward to traveling/vacation after!!!

Dh wants to go for a drive in the new car.  So we may drive to Oak Glen to eat lunch at a little diner up there.  It should be a beautiful day there!  Then in the afternoon we will head over to the Jamalong. 🙂

Have a good day!

I might like to try embroidery once my stitching is better

Oh, another day shift nurse worked 18 hours, as she stayed on night shift until 0100.

I warned her that what she was doing was illegal.

So, at 0100, we all went from seven patients, to nine.

The facility regularly, allows nurses to break the law, to fill their staffing gaps.

Disgusting.

I am so fortunate that my patients were sane last night, relatively speaking.

I did have one, who went from sleeping soundly (witnessed the change myself), to sobbing uncontrollably at 0650.

She apparently did the same thing on day shift.

I gave her Clonazepam.

The nurse who worked 18 hours, apparently had an insane group, including one, who earlier in the day left AMA, but not before repeatedly swearing at staff, including the MD.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, that new car, Dianah.

Tell us all about the bells and whistles.

Jack is apparently rallying, so I think my friend's wife will be able to join us on Nantucket.

I am so glad, because I really like her, and want our other friend to meet her.

There is a brand new hospital on Nantucket, and my friend met the CEO, and conveyed that she has a friend visiting the island, who is a nurse.

Well, the CEO, wants to show us around the new hospital!

Oh, no.

Hope all are enjoying the day.

Yep; nope, I am still not allowed to "Like" anybody's post again today...even though I did/do like them, I am forbidden to indicate that! RATZ! Am I being too enthusiastic or something?  "Like-ing" should be Freely Unrestricted. (redundant much?) But...maybe the "Likes" jam up the AN site's main computer, falling in between threads and are hard to clear out. I dunno.

Joe, sounds like you were able to quietly sneak out of the now ex-employer's facility. Would've been far worse if, like in Tweety's place of employment, there were suddenly a LOT of last-minute things pop-up, keeping you overtime on your last day! I know his and your jobs a very different, so that would be quite unlikely. Anyway, enjoy your weekend, and all the best to you at your new job!

BCg, Ooooh you've got a lot of ground to cover, and like you said, much construction to slog through. Wishing you great endurance and more especially, Safety-with-a-capital "S"! When hubby and I used to get trip-tiks from AAA for our Asheville to Maine trips, I'd always specify..."don't put us on the Jersey Turnpike"! For the Asheville to Sarasota trip, we did the most expedient route. Orlando's always a mess anyway. If driven straight through it was about 12 hours, and generally we'd stop halfway for an overnight. But one year Spring Break had already started and the motels we might have been able to afford were crammed with kids, and the room prices were exorbitant. That one time, I drove straight on through. We always had a ice-chest of drinks, and another with three choices of home-made sandwiches (roast beef cooked the night before, ham/turkey deli slices with cheese, and good ol' peanutbutter and jelly/jam.....the latter always being referred to as "Peanunkle'n'jammer snamiches". We also packed salty and sweet snacks (home-made frosted brownies). The only stops we made were for getting gas or getting to pee. We travel very well together. Now, if only we could indulge in that again. Yeah, I sure hope ONE DAY, SOON, we will be able to.

The new neighbors across the street got married at Myrtle Beach last weekend and are having their reception (VERY informal) at their 'new' house. They had been burned out of their previous house about 6-7 months ago, and then a week and a half after they moved in across the street, a big tree in their front yard fell onto their "new" house. GADS! If it was me, I'd be inclined to feel kinda-sorta a bit un-lucky!  I guess the insurance company's payments help some; but they really did lose everything, except (thank goodness) their lives and their dogs.

We are invited over to grab some food (caterer planned for 60 people.) We'll go over shortly after 6 PM. I can hardly wait until it gets rolling after dark; Nannie might have several cows because she sleeps at the corner of our house closest to them; the LARGE workshop they've cleaned out has a large door that rolls up and that'll be where the music will be blaring from, with nothing to block the sounds between there and Nannie's bedroom window. Plus, oh my goodness, can you even imagine, there will be a good bit of drinking going on. GASP! Nannie will have LOTS to gossip about! She keeps thinking they are having a wedding over there and wants to see their "decorations". Part of their 'decorations' are that a month ago, they had moved their 5 large dog's large pens down into the back yard's backyard (it tiers down), and raked clean and sprayed down (with I don't know what; maybe enzymatic stuff) the dirt where the pens were. But there's no olefactory (? sp?) hint of dog in that area.

So, Nel, was the Belief-O-Matic quiz on-line or in a magazine? That would be fun and interesting to take. Doubt I'd be found that Scientology suited me. No offense IF anyone here is one, but that organization gives me the CREEPS! Don't consider them much of a religion, either. Maybe kinda like Brainwashology or a Hypno-gion.

Nel, I'm with herring, wishing your patient assignment at work gives you AMAZINGLY nice, pleasant and sane people to take care of. Could you take it? I think you could, though you may spend a shift like that in a state of suspended disbelief.

dianah (and Joe), I'm sure I've said this before, but I could only enjoy knitting or needlework if words were printed along the length of the skein; a short novel, for instance. I'm not happy sitting for long periods, unless I have printed words upon which my eyes can gaze. That's why hubby says my family, who have the same trait, are "Print Junkies"./ di, BTW, have a good Jamalong!

We are in the fifth inning of Nannie's formerly loved but currently very confusing Brave's game this afternoon. I have quit even trying to explain anything to her. I give eloquent shrugs instead. Only thing I straighten out for her is if she thinks a player is ours or not.

YOIKS! She said with disgust, that she "can't believe" hubby is going across the street, wearing baggy cut-off sweat pants and a not-very-tidy t-shirt. I suppose she still thinks there is a wedding going on over there. Her mental retention has shrunken to 10 seconds sometimes. Yesterday I told her something and a minute later she said that somebody had told her such- and-such, as if it was new news, but it was exactly what I had JUST told her.

UhOh, I've made her mad; she said she was going into the bathroom, and I said "to peek out the window at what's going on across the street?"-----because she does that ALL THE TIME. She'll come back into the den telling us about all these different cars and trucks that are coming and going; she doesn't recognize any of the vehicles, can't tell the neighbors apart or even if they are neighbors. Anyway, she slammed the hollow-wood bathroom door REALLY hard. Then, apparently the view wasn't good enough (my guess) because she went to her bedroom "to get some clothes", but that room has the better, more clear view across the street.

Gotta stop; may be back later--

Good afternoon!

Joe congrats on finishing up smoothly.

Dianah, I cut back on the red onions, but they did make it more of a salad that could be eaten with dinner, rather than just a fruit salad.  Enjoy the ride.

Nel, I've taken those tests before and believe I came up Universalist-Unitarian but I consider myself more of a Humanist.

BC, enjoy the wedding but that drive does sound tedious.

Herring, I guess the drought is over in California.

Y'all can send some rain our way, it's quite hot in the 90's every day and we need our rainy season to go ahead and start.  It cools us off but we need the rain for our reservoirs and aquafers.

I'm actually posting from work.  It's about 18:10 and I'm done.  I have one patient and the floor census is only five patients.  The other RN has four patients with her RN orientee.  We really should close the unit, but the other floors are busier.    I'm not complaining, but time is starting to drag.  I've read my email, did computer based training, organized things.  What's going to bust my bubble is if we get one of the usual shift change admissions.   So I'm holding my breath that doesn't happen.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

I think it sounds wonderful.

Tweety - I'll save it for when I'm out of the Induction period of Atkins.  Thank you!

It is 83 degrees today.  No rain in sight.

Yard work, a memorial service for a good friend whose dad passed away very suddenly from a fluke illness.  Very weird.  The service was simple, good, and showcased a very gentle man who loved his family.

Dh and Spidey are headed out to cut firewood - Spidey took the lawnmower out to cut his Nana's lawn and he also fixed her fan (it wouldn't oscillate) but got home and they decided to cut a load of wood for Spidey's boss.

Not much else going on.  Enjoy your weekend folks!

I'm going to mow the lawn shortly.

Stars, go online to Beliefnet.com. Then look for Belief O Matic. It's about 20 questions.

The spontaneous cryer started up again at 1830.

Day shift nurse had to deal with it.

I will be prepared for 0650!!!

Clonazepam in hand!
