Good Morning!

Wow! It's 7:33 AM (EST) in this part of the world and I'm starting today's Good Morning thread! LOL! Hope all are safely slumbering away. . .

Recently woke up. Currently drinking First Coffee. Happily, all of the coffee brewed this morning made its way into the coffee pot! LOL!

The Healthy Heart Night event, yesterday, went well. A fair amount of people from the community attended the educational event. Us ICU/CCU staff nurses all worked together to make sure everything was set-up (and taken down) for the event. As mentioned before, we've been doing this since around 2005 or 2006. (No one was able to remember the exact year we started doing this. LOL!). This was my first time co-chairing Healthy Heart Night. Happily, it will be my last! LOL! (I'd rather be a worker-bee than a leader-bee. LOL!) Got home around 10:00 PM last night. Unloaded my car from all of the audio equipment that I brought. (It was -4 F outside at that point. Ugh!) When that chore was done, I went straight to bed.

Today??? In about 45 minutes, I'm leaving to meet my step-mother and step-brother at a bank to create a new bank account together. I'm doing this because I'll be helping out pay for a new car loan for my step-mother. After the account is created, we'll be looking at new or newish cars for her. Honestly??? I'd rather be doing this in warmer weather. But it needs to get done as my step-mother needs a safe and dependable car for herself.

Nothing much else to share at this point. I'll be back later to read your posts. In the meanwhile, I hope all have a pleasant day today! 🙂

Ted

Good Morning!

Ted, glad the event went well.  Doubtful this will be your last event because they'll ask you next year and you won't say no because you're nice like that.  Wish I had a child to get me a new and reliable car.   Glad there was no coffee disaster.  Been there and done that myself.   LOL

Joe, congrats on the weight loss goals.  Hope you had fun at bowling.  Bet you're posting right now too.

Herring, what a nice gesture to get the pizza.  I'm sure they enjoyed it.  Glad step-mom cooperated with the eye exam.

Nel, glad the pictures came out to your liking.  Hope your weekend at work is going okay.

J22, hate when they don't give nurses the proper orientation they've promised.  We've pulled a tech and nurse off orientation early when short these past few weeks, but they were experienced and dealt with it, but still it's not right.

BC, glad you're out of the cold and getting in some relaxation.

Dianah, sounds like an nice social and music weekend.  I only know Maria Muldaur from her big hit "Midnight At the Oasis".  I've always loved that record, kind of racy, good lyrics and a great voice.  Apparently she's continued to make music all these years and is a bit of blues and jazz.  Since your post I've listened to her new album from last year on Spotify and she's great.  Hard to believe people I used to love in high school are now in their 70's and some still out there.

It's already 64 here and will get up into the 70's. I'm sure even warmer down BC's way in South Florida.

Work was okay.  There was a little staff discontent that I won't go into but it's always something.  I found a coworker is a mechanic and might fix my car cheap but I'm not sure I want to go under the table with someone that I work.  My inner voice is tell me no, but my bank account is saying yes.

Going to the theater tonight to see a play I'd never heard of, but it's a troupe that never disappoints.

Doing my taxes today.  I've had my best year income wise in my life.   I've got a new air conditioner, new water heater, new teeth, some world travels to show for it, but no cash and I'm still broke.  sigh.....   LOL  Hope with the tax cuts I still get something back and don't pay.

Hope everyone has a great day.  I'm off for four days.

Morning Ted and Tweety

Work yesterday was back to the usual lack of response and "call me later" who never pick up.  Oh well, I've made progress.  I'm finding that I have to not get so disaffected with work that the quality of my work starts to become less acceptable to me.  If I feel I'm doing a pretty good job and working pretty hard it's easier to deal with lack of progress in other ways

Met J last night at one of our usual places.  Had bowling after that.  Was OK though a little dull.   Got home late

Did some cooking this morning, will meet dad later for lunch as usual.

Glad the weather is going to get up into the 40s, although with all of the snow and the rain expected things could get messy

Hello from rainy northern CA.

I finally figured out how to join the Breakroom. sirI helped me.  I'm simply a dunce when it comes to these things.

Tweety - we get our car repairs done, for the most part, from a retired CHP who does work on cars in his retirement.  Spidey bought a lift kit for his pickup and he worked with this guy to do all the new work.  I'm not sure what you mean my "under the table" though.

My new (to me) car is a VW Passat, diesel.  I took it in for its first oil change last week.  It is considered a "high end" foreign car so our local oil change place doesn't work on those.  The place I took it to was . . . very upscale.  I felt like I was in a wealthy neurosurgeon's suite of offices.  Anyway, the guy asked me if I'd like my DEF topped off.  I had to stop him and say that I had no idea what he was talking about.  I guess diesels in California (maybe other states) must combine DEF (aka bull urea) to lower emmisions.  It is very caustic and he warned me not to spill it if I wanted to "top it off" myself.  I told him to do it.  Can I say I'm not diesel-savvy as well?  I will say I love my car, it handles well in the snow, and I get fantastic gas mileage.

I missed our local Healthy Heart event yesterday due to being on call.  Lots of photos from co-workers and it was well attended.

Ok - gonna have to get used to not hitting "enter" twice to make a paragraph . . .

Spidey's basketball team won last night against the Weed

Gotta go . . . memorial service to attend.

Hello all.

Just woke up.

Last night wasn't early as bad as last weekend.

Hopefully, tonight and tomorrow night be will okay too.

All the parking lot cats are accounted for. All seven of them made it through the polar vortex. I don't know how. The only have a sparsely wooded area for shelter.

It is in the 50s here. I am sure the pastures are turning to mud again. I will find out in a little while.

Glad the Healthy Heart event was a success, Ted. Especially since it was so cold outside.

Good luck with those taxes, Tweety.

Enjoy lunch with your dad, Joe.

Busy, busy weekend, Dianah. Enjoy the concert.

Hello Herring and Spider.

Hope BC is having the time of her life.

Good day!

Glad that you found us.  "Under the table" is that he comes to my house and fixes and I give him cash.  He's just a person that works on cars on his off time and apparently is very good.  No sales tax paid, and more than likely he just takes his money and doesn't report it to the IRS or anything like that.  BTW what profession is "CHP"?

Nel, glad to hear the cats made it through.  Probably had to use up one of their nine lives.

I am getting a refund and the taxes were pretty painless to do online and cost me $17.   Not sure with the government shutdown when it will be direct deposited but I could use it.

Tweety, I'm sure someone will get back to you on this before I get this entry posted, but here ya go: CHP = California Highway Patrol.

Things are going well here at Nannie's w/o hubby present. Yesterday I took my pain med just before lunch, and was feeling easy and amenable, so I sat and listened to her rattle along with her usual anecdotes, but now sans coherent time-lines and/or people's names, and stayed quiet, and cool as a cucumber.

GADS, I have to go feed these YELLING dogs! I'll be back...

Okay, I'm back. I fed the dogs, put them out on the small front porch with the baby-gate at the stairs, then Nannie and I walked out to the mailbox and back.

We are all currently in the den, and she'd better pick up one of her Christian Romance paperbacks, or a puzzle from the newspaper and get busy to HUSHing. I don't feel as easygoing about having to listen to her re-runs of re-runs right now.

But OH! I have an out! My laundry is ready to be switched over to the dryer. Then I'll 'be busy' so I won't just be sitting here with my vulnerable ears, listening to her babble and watching her play with her fingers and fingernails and rings...something she does toooo much, for toooo long; but hubby says "she's always done that."  It's NOT meditative; I know this because in my mind I hear Garth Brooks singing "Brainless"  😏

Off to the laundry-room ...

Yep, California Highway Patrol.  I have two nephews who are CHP's as well.

The memorial was wonderful.  Lots of funny stories, laughter, and tears.  All 3 of her kids spoke.

They served us lunch of tri-tip and chicken thighs; we all brought a side dish.

The sun came out, the rain is holding off, I might head outside to do some yard work.

YIKES!  🤯 <this emoji is called "Shocked face with exploding head" Hahahahahahahahahaha!

9 PM and Nannie just decided to go to bed! I am astonished, except I'm not. Apparently, earlier, she decided to 'take her bath' (wash up at the sink) , which she usually does after supper ...  today she took it before supper.

Another part of her after-bath routine has been to take her PM meds ...

I had said to her, "Don't take your pills yet, it's too early." She said, "Okay."

Uh-huh, welp...  😲

Yup, she took her PM meds on an empty stomach, an hour or hour and a half TOO EARLY = "I don't know why I'm so sleepy; I can hardly keep my eyes open."

Hubby called me earlier, he said, "When I get back, we have to find you somewhere you can go for a couple of days off. I tell you what, time away from Nannie is SO refreshing; I can't believe how much better I feel!" I knew it would do him a lot of good to shuck off the pressures for a time.
