Good Morning!

It's a very raining morning in this part of the world. Thankfully, the temperature is 52 degrees outside. If the temp was 30+ degree COOLER, we'd be having a Nor'-easter! Yikes!

Recently woke up. Currently drinking First Coffee. . . . Yum!

Regarding work, yesterday evening, while playing the role of Mr. Shift Director - Someone said the "Q" word!! UGH!! Really long story short, the evening shift was busy, busy, busy! When I got home, around after mid-night, I was high as a kite on adrenaline! LOL!

I think I got all the obligatory Shift Director Paperwork Stuff done yesterday evening. (???)

I'm off for the next three nights. YES! Today? Amy and I are going shopping. Tomorrow? Choir rehearsal. Church. Second Choir Rehearsal. THEN, Early Christmas dinner with family and friends. THAT, I'm looking forward to doing! Monday?? Choir rehearsal and rehearsal with other musicians/singers at 8:30 PM followed by Christmas Eve Service at 10:00 PM.

I'm working Christmas Night, hopefully "just" as Mr. ICU Nurse.

Hope all have a "Q" Day today.

Peace!

Ted

P.S. - Edited to Add:

Here is one of the videos that Amy and I did for our 2018 Christmas Gift to Family and Friends. It's our take on "Jingle Bell Rock", which I'm sharing to you all for your listening and visual pleasure. Hope it helps get you into that Holiday Season Mood! Enjoy! :D

Good morning-

I'm so happy to hear that Stars is feeling better. I hope the relief is long lasting. Ted, that was quite the eventful night at work. I'm glad you have a few days off to recover.

I am off for the next 4 days. We are closed both the 24th and the 25th. I need a break from the office. Maybe it's just me, but it seems as though patients are becoming more demanding and less reasonable. I find myself asking in my head, "why are you here if you don't want to take our advice or make any changes?" several times a day. I have said it out loud once to a particularly frustrating patient who continues to smoke heavily and is non-compliant with medications, and then comes in and literally asks me to "fix their breathing". I cannot care about them more than they care about themselves. Rant over.

Not much going on for the weekend. We are meeting friends for lunch today, and then may see a movie. I'd like to see Mary, Queen of Scots or Vice. I did want to see Welcome to Marwen, but the reviews are terrible.

What are y'all doing this weekend?

Stars glad to hear that you're walking without a cane now

Ted our church has a late Christmas Eve service too, 10:30pm. Choir has to be there at 9pm to practice beforehand

BC I don't know about rude patients but within the last week rude drivers seem to have increased exponentially. And people in the stores seem more rushed

No school dreams last night

And work was pretty good. My anxiety was trying to get the best of me but I managed to push it aside. I'm becoming more aware of subtle signs that it's increasing, and more accepting that anxiety happens but that I don't have to let it bother me

Last night had a special hour and a half choir practice for the 3 pieces for Christmas Eve. Two we're solid on, one we still need more practice. Would have been worse except the director chose to replace a more complicated piece with a simpler one we've done in the past

Today I take my car in for oil changes and such. Also have to wrap gifts. Not planning much else apart from exercise and watching more episodes of Dad's Army-a member of our church who grew up in the UK got me into that show

Realize that I haven't yet watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. Think it was on TV a few weeks ago. Have it on VHS. Might watch that today too. So far the only Christmas special I've seen is from the Japanese anime show Aggresutko

Good Morning!

Ted, what a great video. Amy is so pretty, youthful looking with great skin. Did you rob the cradle or is she just naturally pretty. LOL Glad your step-mother is o.k. and that you guys could help her out.

Stars, hope things continue to improve for you!

Joe, hope you got to talk to J and that the work tension is left behind.

BC, enjoy the next four days off!! Noncompliant but "fix me anyway and give me a magic pill' patients are annoying top the max. Didn't know the reviews to "Welcome to Marwen" was bad but I've seen the trailer a few times and the PT that says "embrace the pain" when he falls during therapy drove me crazy. There isn't a physical therapist alive that would say that to a patient. They'd be calling the nurse or the doctor to help the poor fellow management his pain prior to therapy. At least I hope that's how they operate.

Dianah, sounds like you're having a love-hate relationship with this process, but I'm sure it's mostly love. :)

Nel, glad you like the new raincoat for Big Boy. Crazy year for rain there.

Steph, my mother is not a morning person so when I got up at 5AM or even left at 6:30 I did not call them. I'm not one of those people that puts a lot of stock in dreams anyway. Hope you get out of your funk, but I'm also not one of those people that say you're supposed to feel anything at Christmas. I used to feel like I had to be upbeat and happy at Christmas when most of the time, including now, I feel nothing. But I'm not a matriarch of a family like you. :)

Slept in this morning. Yesterday was fairly busy. It was our staff's Christmas cover dish and being in between 12 hours shifts, I only committed to getting chicken. Was going to send the secretary out to get it but I didn't have any money, so I clocked out and got it myself and lost some precious time. We had a very nice spread which I finally got to eat around 2:30. I think for the most part the crew is taken to heart to stop being so negative and work as a team, but there's still gossip. There always will be, I can just hope not to partake myself.

We got a lot of wind yesterday and it's just gloomy here. Slept in and going to do some laundry and head to the gym.

Have a great day!

Yeah, I realized that after I asked you the question - it was pretty early. I don't put much stock in dreams either but still. . .

No, not "feeling it" yet. Christmas every year just seems to be hard when you don't know what to buy people. That shouldn't be the focus. Or maybe I'm just getting old. Spidey is 17 now. I still leave the milk and cookies out for Santa. But it is definitely different when you don't have little kids.

I did see a great video this morning that made me laugh. A SNL skit about "the perfect Christmas ever!". I'll try to link it but I notice that it takes awhile sometimes for videos to link because the powers-that-be have to make sure it is ok. I totally get that.

Good morning to everyone else! BC - I have a family member who is non-compliant with his diabetes and I've just learned to shut my mouth. If I were a NP, I dunno how, at my age now, I'd have the patience. I was talking to a former colleague (we ran into each other at Rite Aid last night) and we discussed how grateful we were to have started to work in the medical field before it got like it is today. Clicking boxes, computer-on-wheels, etc. The days of paper charting, being able to look up labs by turning a page, writing orders without having to log-in with 2 passwords, etc. I don't think I'd want to be in this career now if I were just starting out.

Gosh, I sound like such a bah humbug person. Sorry . . . maybe I should get out and exercise to get some endorphins moving.

Have a great Saturday and yes, the video Ted and Amy is great!!

Good Evening!

Got a LOT done today, bought some useful gifts for ourselves at a neat Thrift Store. I'm of a practical nature, so fancy-schmancy bling and frippery are never on my Christmas List. (Did the shopping for Nannie's gifts at the mall last week). We picked up lunch at a restaurant and brought it home; feeding Nannie a big meal for lunch means hubby serves her a light supper, no cooking involved. I finished yesterday's laundry, and then wrapped all the presents; hubby arranged them under the tree to Nannie's satisfaction, so they "looked right". :sarcastic:

Pretty good day, so nice spending time JUST with hubby, rather than having to deal with the usual intruding, demanding focus of we-all-know-who.

Hip is mostly okay, I have had a few twangy-twinges and stabs at my 'sit-down-bone' which seems to be set-off by [>TMI WARNING:)] sitting on the toilet seat. I swear it feels like the back side of the top'o'the thighbone is broken sometimes! But we know that's not so. Prolly sciatic. Also, it is tough when I have to stand for a while, like in a store's pre-Xmas check-out line!

Anyway, I was told that the pains may become 'worse' for 2-3 days post procedure. Overall I am still mostly doing really well, so I expect to continue to improve as my core and trunk become stronger. (slowly, so as not to injure/aggravate). Not totally into Tai-Chi, but I think that it is probably safer for me at this point, so The New Year's resolution...which I never make...will be to seek out a tai-chi class and actually DO IT!

ETA: We ALL really liked Amy's singing, and all agree with Tweety about Amy's beautiful skin and how pretty she is!

going to play Ted and Amy's Christmas video during the next commercial break ...

Of course the new people starting out don't know any better so they are okay with it. Who knows that in 30 years they'll be saying...remember the good old days when you could log in with two passwords instead of this face recognition stuff...LOL

Had a nice evening. Went to see "The Favourite" a very avant guard but good indie movie set in the early 1700's England and went for Indian food. Walked the dogs and it's a quite cold low 50's. Very humid which is making it colder.
