Good morning!
Ted, sorry you're feeling so exhausted.   Hope that gets better for you and that you get to take your trip.  My boss is supposed to go to France next month and so far it's a go for her as well, but that could change with the Delta Variant and they are expecting a final word soon.

Stars, around here conventional vets require vaccination (sometimes I wonder if it's a racket but they make a lot of money).  As I said, I would have to switch to a vet that is holistic and doesn't require them.  But with two dogs, I have a plan I pay monthly to take care of it all and switching vets, especially for teeth cleaning would cost more.  Which reminds me, it's time for their monthly heartworm and flea pill.

J22, places around here are considering required vaccinations for employees.  I can understand, covid is taking out their employees and affecting their bottom line.  Workers here are scare is some places and losing one or two workers to covid not only harms the employee but their bottom line.  Several places here have had to temporary close due to lack of employees because of covid.  But also dealing with belligerent people can be a pain.  The county next to us had a hearing about a mask mandate proposal to go into city hall and the public that showed up and spewed ignorance was very disappointing.  Imagine something as simple as a mask and you take time off of your day to go to city hall to object.

Dianah, mashed boiled eggs with mayo and butter...hmmm...  It's funny the strange combos that we can come up with.  Tik Tok is doing some strange combos that I've tried like Oreos and salsa, and watermelon with mustard.

I had a nice day off.  I went to the gym and it was busy and I was the only one wearing a mask.  Workers in the grocery store I went to and I noticed it seemed less customers were wearing masks.  I'm hoping it's because they are vaccinated, but I doubt it.  I'm vaccinated and I read that we can spread it and catch it.  Florida reached another record high for one day:  over 21,000 cases.

And so it goes.

Working today.  Bleh

Morning Tweety

Ted I can see how you'd be burned out, hope things ease up soon

Stars I'm trying to keep that in mind, that things will turn out OK

NJ22 it will be nice to, at some point, not have to worry about looking for jobs

Hi Amo

Work could have been bad, as we got additional work yesterday (you'd think they'd be starting to wind things down).   But made good progress on it, so hopefully next week won't be bad

Completed the application for the internal position and have an interview scheduled for Wed.  It reports to the Texas office but I can continue to work out of the Illinois one

Had a phone call with a recruiter, they're forwarding my resume to the employer, an insurance company that does workers comp.  Another interesting possiblity

Rest of the day was quiet, exercised and took it easy

Notice I tend to feel down at the beginning of the day, though usually feel better later.  Not sure why, sleep has been fine

Today have some birdwatching then the dentist.  One of my cousins is having a BBQ today, haven't seen that side of the family since the pandemic

Tonight Svengoolie has Black Friday, which I've seen before.  One of those with both Karloff and Lugosi

Warm day today, in the upper 80s, rain possible this afternoon, hope it holds off for the BBQ

Joe, I had to look up Black Friday.  Interesting history behind the making of it, and the premise does cross the line between scifi and gangster.  Will be interesting to hear your take on it.  I don't get the channel that features Svengoolie, so can't see it.  Bet I can find it somewhere, though...

Slept in a little, as did dh.  Woke up with that neck pain again.  Meh, it'll go away.  Dh is busy feeding the cats, and then we will tune in to Zoom Sabbath School (which is now a mixture of real-time attendance [masks optional] and Zoom).

Have a good day!

Lazy Sunday. _____Except it is SATURDAY!_______We slept in, except 'one' of us got up at 3:30 PM, dressed, made her bed, and went in to the den to sleep in her recliner. I'm not saying WHO, but we all know, don't we?! And hubby came downstairs at that time and told her to 'at least' take off her shoes!

Yesterday Nannie said her ear hurt and she requested a q-tip. Hubby got it for her and she dug around a while....then INSISTED *I* look at the q-tip so I could see what she pulled out of her ear. I said "Please don't make me look at your used q-tip!" But she said I had to because there was blood on it. Indeed there was, mixed in with a gawd-awful amount of ear wax. She thought the blood might be from a tooth which, she said, she 'thinks' may have broken while she was eating a piece of pizza. I told her there was no way a broken tooth would cause her ear to bleed. Then I reminded her that for two days she has been sticking her little finger (with it's stabbing long nail) in her ear and c/o itching. She said sometimes when she moves her mouth (jaw?) a certain way, she gets a pain that shoots across her cheek, from ear to front of face. I told her if she is having pain from a tooth, she needs to go to a dentist. which she doesn't want to do because her previous dentist died, oh, say 6 or 7 years ago and she doesn't 'trust' a new one. (!) I get it, but pain is pain, and if it's a tooth, it needs to be seen to.

I just can't get over her trying to connect the broken tooth and her sore ear and the blood altogether. Like her tooth breaking caused her blood to leak into her ear. Uh-HUH! And like she hasn't been gouging out that ear with her little finger....no blood on her fingernail being proof-positive, she thinks, that she is innocent of causing her ear to bleed a little. JUST a LITTLE, I'm telling you! No further blood on any q-tips during further forays into the ear! But, I mean, just.... UGH!

Life is weird sometimes, isn't it?

Welp, we are out of milk and bananas so I am going to hop out to the store for a moment.

May be back in a while.

stars - Just to say, ear wax impaction can cause serious itching and face pain!!!  BTDT. Rare occasion I get water in an ear, and the gamut of S&S can send me to an Urgi-Center for its removal. Some time ago, I had an impacted right salivary gland that backed up and abcessed. Hospitalized me for a week!

Good Evening -

I'm at work. Gratefully, it seems that No One said the "Q" word because, right this moment, our happy, teeny-tiny hospital is. . . . (shhhhhhhhh).

However, a couple of hours before my shift started, it seems that someone did say "That Word". There was a Code Blue on the Med/Surg floor. Long story short, happily the patient is alive and even doing well, and currently safely residing in our teeny-tiny ICU. This lucky individual is awake, alert and back to neurological baseline.

The Puppy. . . A little less nippy & bitey. We had some nice play time around noontime, in-between First Sleep and Second Sleep. She's so darned cute! But, she can be a little devil sometimes.  Currently, Amy and the Puppy is at a Home Owners Association (HOA) picnic that one of our neighbors is holding today. Interestingly, the puppy does well around other people. She should do well and behave at this picnic. Hopefully.  Wish I could be at the picnic too. But, alas, I'm at work.

After tonight, I'm off the next three nights. Yes!

Amy. . . I keep on forgetting to share this. Amy is part of an on-line workshop for a play that is being developed, which, hopefully, will be produced Off Broadway. This play is about a woman with Cystic Fibrosis who wants to be a Broadway actress. Amy is playing the part of the Grandmother. (I'm grinning as I type this! LOL!) This workshop is being done by Zoom; all of the performers are at their homes. Together, they perform in front of their personal computer's cameras and microphone using their Zoom program. Today was Amy's 2nd day performing for this workshop. She's getting a modest stipend for her time and effort. Who knows?!? If this play eventually does make it to Off Broadway (in NYC), maybe Amy will be in the cast. THAT would be very cool! It's interesting how this pandemic is creating clever ways to safely continue the performing arts.

Well, gotta get going and do rounds. I hope all have a pleasant and restful weekend. 🙂

Ted

Hi, it rained most of the morning and it was glorious. I had a lovely run in the cool, clean air. We looked at potential used pick-ups to buy. They are more expensive than I thought they would be, but aren't they always.

Impacted cerumen can indeed be painful! But yeah, scratching leads to itching leads to more scratching. I used to get a lot of ear infections. My last bad one sent me to the doc. They removed (flushing and mechanically) a large impaction, and then said "ooh, that looks bad. Once it ruptures, it will feel better." And they gave me antibiotics. And the pain gradually increased to just shy of excruciating. The durn thing ruptured about 3 am, and I reached 10/10 pain. I drove myself to ED (stupid me) and I felt immediately judged about being a narcotic seeker. They scoffed when I said I didn't think I should try to flush it at home because I thought it needed to be sterile. They instilled warm Colace to soften it up, and tried to flush it out and they still needed to "dig it out." They insisted it was more cerumen and didn't believe it had been disimpacted 12 hours earlier. I thought it was looked purulent. They actually gave me an rx for 2 whole vicodin plus some antibiotic ear drops. I had to flush it 3 more days at home for purulent drainage. Since then I've had a Prevnar vaccination and have not had another ear infection.
