I keep moronic high school acquaintances on FB just for the entertainment value. Look at it that way and have a good laugh at his expense. I'm sure he'll provide additional entertainment soon enough.

If it were me, I'd make some smarta** comment about how the only happy ending you're familiar with is the happy ending your pts get when they get to keep living due to properly administered medicine and thoughtfully executed care plans. So really, you give happy NOT-endings. Deurrr what a tool bag.

The people we knew 30 years ago have either grown up or stayed the same. I have some high-school classmates, not all were my friends, who still behave like they are teens. The crass jokes and no boundaries, too much for me.

It just seemed like a mis-informed comment to me. Send him a private message telling him how you feel about the comment and based on his response delete him as a friend. I would also keep personal info like your profession and where you work. (if you have that up there), off of fb or select certain friends to have different levels of access. my $0.02s.

Agree. I wouldn't block or unfriend him because there are many people who simply say dumb stuff in a crude attempt to be funny, friendly or as a really awkward pick-up line. I would not assume a hostile intent.

But I was born without the "ignore" ability for the most part . . .a private message can get the point across without embarrassing the person.

Ignore and defriend him. I usually hide posts from people I don't care to read comments from.

Delete his post, consider unfriending him. He's probably a porn addict and all he can think about is sex! I think this is a major problem in the world today and when these men are so obsessed with porn, it spills into their everday interactions with other people, coworkers, family, friends making crude jokes, comments and gestures. You could tell him you can't help him with his problem and suggest where he should go...

Yikes  There's a huge difference between incredibly poor taste, tactlessness, and ignorance- and PORN !! :uhoh3: I'm sorry this is how you see men- as if they're all porn addicts- :twocents:

Generalize much??? :)

I like the way your grandma thinks! Smart woman! Great advice.

My grandmother, God rest her soul, gave me some very sage advice when I was young (many MANY years ago). She told me that if I felt something to be offensive to me, first understand WHY you feel offended, second, assess who is doing the offending, and third, is it really worth your time and energy to address the issue if the offending party is a total jackwagon and would completely miss the point of your tactfully stated rebuttal?

With that being said, it is incredibly difficult to offend me. If you tell me that my profession is nothing more than emptying bedpans and wiping butts, I automatically know that you are a moron, and don't go into a long debate defending what I do as a professional nurse; the point is that I know what I do, and am very proud of my profession. I am actually laughing inside because I know that you don't have the first CLUE! I don't feel a burning need to rationalize and validate my profession to an idiot.

Unfriend him. You have lost nothing.

Delete the comment, UN-friend this person, and try to find a better class of friends. Remember - Don't teach a pig to whistle- it wastes your time and annoys the pig. Trying to wise up someone who is operating on the level expected of a fifth grade boy's locker room is a waste of your time.

Never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Hmm, I think that is in Proverbs. lol... :)

I think you can make some type of comment that you didn't appreciate it. Technically, you said he was an old friend from high school....consider that he was speaking to you as a peer, not a professional. = )

:o
