A roof collapsed in one of the departure lounges at Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris. 6 people are known dead....................

When you think that you are leaving on an enjoyable vacation you never expect this to happen. :uhoh21:

My heart goes out to those that lost their lives.

Its awful news - sympathy to all the families involved.

We are due to fly to Paris later this year - its scarey.

About five years ago I spend over two hours waiting in one of the terminal lounges, as our flight home was delayed . . . that is really scary news. So sad for the families!

That's very very sad...one never knows what will happen, that's why we have to enjoy every day.

I think the fatalities have been downgraded to four at this time, but , man, that's awful. It was a new terminal, and the opening had been delayed a few months due to construction problems, as I understand. It was a modern, tubular type design.

People in the terminal heard some loud cracking sounds and some concrete dust started to fall, so the terminal was in the process of being evacuated when it collapsed. Otherwise, there would have been more fatalities for sure.

Sounds like the airport is going to be a mess for a long time while repairs and rebuilding is done. The section that collapsed was just part of a larger newly opened construction, so the whole terminal may be determined structurally unsound.

And I thought LAX was bad!
