Poor kitty had been in rough shape for a while. Finally had to put him down yesterday. Vet was awesome. She wanted to do some more tests to see what exactly was going on, but in the end she said that she was just trying to make it easier for me to make the decision to put him down. It was down to feline leukemia or bowel cancer. Either way, he wasn't going to make it. He was having trouble walking, no food or fluids, no voids or BM for the last couple of days. Enough was enough. So she sedated him and I held him while the sedation took effect. She then gave him his final injection. I sat with him for a while longer. Poor little pumpkin. I miss him so much and I wasn't ready to let him go, but I didn't want to put him through any more tests or treatments. He was 12 years old. Big tough guy with a squeeky meow.

He was one of the cats that travelled cross-country with me back in '99. I'm going to miss him terribly.

Thanks.

It is so hard trying to guess at what they are feeling and trying to decide when the time has come to say goodbye.

Dear Morning Glory,

So sorry you lost your kitty cat. Cats are so smart aren't they and they are part of you family. I think you did the right thing for a family member in pain.

RIP Misty.

I know. We had to make this decision for an old dog of yours, a true sweetie, last fall. She was in pain and any hesitation was for us, not her. It was time.

I hope you're feeling better.

I'm so sorry about your fur-baby. There doesn't ever seem to be a time when we're 'ready' to say good-bye to a beloved friend, and they leave some pretty big holes in our hearts when they go. Be gentle with yourself and give yourself the time you need to grieve for your Misty; you've lost more than a pet, you've lost a member of the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rest in peace, Misty.:redbeathe ^..^

Life goes on, but he will stay with me. I know I made the right decision, but it stinks to have to make that kind of decision. The other cats haven't even been looking for him.

I must say that all of the rest of my fur-babies are getting a lot more attention. Probably a good thing.

Thank you all for your support.
