You are reading page 2 of "It Ain't Because You're Beautiful". If you want to start from the beginning Go to First Page.

The fact that she thinks she is so beautiful is a clear give away that she is probably already insecure.

i can deal with insecure.

don't do well with shallow.

here's how we handle newbies and students where i work that think they're beautiful and above us.

the women are easy, we figure out their imperfections/insecurities and subtly hammer on them. it's mean as hell, but so are they.

That's so passive aggressive.

What not just out and out tell her she's a P-I-A and full of C-R-A-P.

ugh.

i can promise you, had she leaned her chair back into me that many times, i would've kicked those wheels so she fell flat on the floor.:saint:

and why do these young broads always think we 'mature' women, are jealous of their youth/beauty????

i can promise you, i would never want to be 25 again.

arrogant little twits.

Hahahah! Just because we're older doesn't mean we are not beautiful.....hehe...

I have only worked with one nurse who was unfairly judged because of her looks. She was drop-dead gorgeous, blonde, incredible figure---and one of the sweetest, kindest, most competent nurses I have ever known. She was a permanent float, so when she started, many people didn't know her and were too quick to dismiss her as "Nurse Barbie" until they worked with her. After people got to know her, the floors that got her for the day considered themselves very fortunate. She was one of the best nurses I've ever known. However, she always conducted herself in a professional manner with patients, staff, and doctors and, again, she knew her stuff. (I remember the first time I met her and thought, she's so gorgeous she's GOT to be stuck-up. I felt very embarrassed and ashamed of myself when I realized how competent, intelligent, and NICE she was.)

But, from what you describe, Ruby Vee, it isn't quite the same situation with your NP student. A twit is a twit, no matter how physically attractive (or unattractive), no matter how young or old, no matter how well-educated (or over-educated or under-educated) he/she might be. I've had the dubious pleasure of working with a few twits and I have to say that there are few things worse than a twit who is old enough to know better but doesn't.

Looks fade but stupid lasts for a lifetime.

Is this person for real?? How could she sit there on the phone and say that? What a freak! Just think, she has to be HER for the rest of her life! The laugh's on her!!!

She was probably a former staff nurse, who wore hoochie mama clothes and hot pink crocs.

Hey, don't diss the Crocs! They may be a fashion faux-pas but I still find them more comfortable than many shoes, especially after having foot surgery. I used to wear such cute shoes and now I am in "comfortable shoe" hell. :crying2:

Seriously, the hoochie mama clothes bother me in a work environment. Please, at work, try to look professional and don't wear skirts up to there and blouses cut down to your navel. And don't wear colored thongs with white pants! (I have truly become an old fart.)

these knuckles know how they're acting is wrong, you can't tell them much of anything, so we just have fun with them at their expense.

Here's what I think will happen to her. She's a NP student right now stinking of arrogance and truly believes she is above it all. Eventually she will become that NP. I think she will make some mistakes. Probably a big mistake. Her NP halo will be tarnished. I think I would be compelled to flip my hair right back at her if she's standing that close to me. If she objects, I'd say "yeah that's irritating isn't it." I see employees come to the floor who aren't in a nursing capacity who wear club gear with skin tight clothes and stilleto heels. They can barely walk off with three charts in their arms about to topple over. They look stupid and this student NP doesn't realize how stupid she looks acting/talking like she does.

I just smile to myself and remember that age waits for no one. Good looks are a great perk for some young people however they fade and when the hair flipping no longer garners any attention it is going to be a rude awakening for those that didn't foster other positive traits. Either that or she will end up like some of the mid 50 somethings I have seen still wearing Forever21 clothing with faces already nipped and tucked up so tight they practically have a gotee. :D

True, because if there's anything more annoying than the young and arrogant, it's the mean, bitter and passive aggressive. I think taking the high road is better..after all, I'm sure many of us were unintentionally annoying at some point to somebody.

I sincerely like many of the people who posted here but the thread itself is just a little too much on the catty side..saucer of milk anyone? ;)

On the subject of people that think they are too above us because they are young and hot, We recently had a brand new doctor start with us. After her 1st day word had already traveled across the hospital that Dr. Barbie had entered the building. I did not see her untill the next week when I had came out of the elevator. Down the hallway walked a tall blonde wearing a MINI DRESS about 5 inch heels, bleach blonde extensions, caked on makeup, and obnoxiously chewing a huge wad of gum! Not only did she walk straight into the nursing station bumping 2 or 3 out of her way, she logged on her FACEBOOK instead of patients info!!!!!! I thought maybe she was dressing like that to make a first impression, but now 3 months later and I have not seen her in pants once! always dresses and pencil skirts that end above her knee!!!:eek::eek::eek:
