Good morning, Joe.
Hope the job search is all you want it to be.
Crappy, crappy, shift last night. We were short-staffed, as usual.
My patient load was 9 patients, plus 3 assessments for an LPN.
At 0100, I lost two patients, as a nurse came in at 0100, but all of the hard work was done at that point.
Only morning med pass left to do.
Three patients with Foley's, two to in and out cath, and two with IV antibiotics.
One in and out cath requires a coude tip fr 10. So it takes 20 minutes to drain out 800 no of urine.
One patient has explosive, bowel medication induced diarrhea at 2000. The tech and I spent 45 minutes in his room getting that situation settled.
I finished med pass at 2300.
I still had dressing changes to do.
It was horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just ate breakfast. Time for sleep.
I am exhausted.
The day shift nursej handed off to this morning had these patients all weekend, too. She said she dreaded coming in this morning.
And she is a 23-year-old new grad.
Bedside nursing sucks.
