This job is a lot less hand-holding than I thought.
A lot less pillow-fluffing than I thought.
More griping,
More fatigue,
More frustration than I thought.
I want to be a great nurse to you and seven other patients too.
But I feel like I don't have enough time for all of you.
If I don't bring your pain medications exactly when their due,
Or your water, or your juice,
It's not that I'm ignoring you,
It's just that other people need me too.
I try to balance all of you and balance me too.
I am still learning.
I am still....
It's just that this job is a lot less hand-holding than I thought.
A lot less pillow-fluffing than I thought.
More griping,
More fatigue,
More frustration than I thought.
A little poetry/prose written by myself in hopes of expressing some feelings I have currently as I explore my new role as a bed-side nurse. Thanks.
