    Bare Minerals makeup

If you use a primer first, then it won't settle into the pores and wrinkles. Also, a dusting with mineral veil helps. It is the only makeup that I have used that doesn't wear out half way through the days because of the oil wells I have disguised as pores.

Popes lack of action with sexual abuse

I was referring to the original post & not anything else after that. If you go back and reread it you may see what I saw. ANY person in a leadership postion, with the potential to influence others, has a certain responsibilities... That is all I will say on this matter, except to state my disappointment.

Popes lack of action with sexual abuse

just had the urge to remind of these passages: http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/matthew/matthew7.htm "stop judging, that you may not be judged. for as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? how can you say to your brother, 'let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye? you hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye..." http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible_hold/john/john8.htm "but when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, "let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her..." i am astonished on how just one area of corruption (or as some would think of as evil) prevelent in all facets of society is being focused on and chosen to be part of a manipulative directive. i really have an equally hard time understanding why someone would question the choice of another person's religious faith, just my opinion.

    A Few Words About Hospice

Just changed specialties and am now a hospice RN case manager. The first week of orientation dealt with a lot of backround and regulations regarding hospice. Yes, hospice is now funded by medicare. Here is a link http://www.hospicenet.org/html/medicare.html We have hospice patients that have been on service for over a year. Just because they rally does not make them ineligible for recertification. I cannot see why you cannot get back on hospice services. You certainly have the right to live your life as you choose to. My prayers are with you.
  8. I wish more people would realize that my Father's story is not the exception, but the rule, for the majority of those with health insurance in the US. Denial runs rampant, as does the gullibility that allows one to be manipulated by propaganda. Just can't do anything about solving a serious problem until one accepts that the problem exist. Hopefully the truth will prevail.
  9. My father's HMO continually denied an EGD for over five years for complaints of GERD with difficulty swallowing. By the time he was able to get the EGD, his esophageal cancer was metastized & the insurance company initially denied the surgery that would extend his live. He died less than a year after the diagnosis & had to go to an understaffed Veteran's Administration Hospice, (where I had to be his primary caregiver after completing my daily work and on my off days) because he could no longer fight the battle with the insurance company to obtain the very same treatment someone who had a different insurer could get. He had no choice in plans or insurance companies because his employer was the one to decide that. For all those that fear the government will ration healthcare, wake up to the fact that it is being done (and has been done)through Health Insurance Companies; and, with all the profit they make in denying necessary treatments/tests/medications, they have the financial ability to introduce the propaganda we are now seeing.

I so want these locks for my home

With my luck I would have a cut on my finger and screw up the recognition. I think I will just keep my door unlocked and keep using my security system of 4 giant barking dogs at the front door.

    Spiritual Nuggets: The Anointing

As a Roman Catholic, anointing comes in two common forms for us, and is based upon many of the passages you quoted: The Sacrament of Confirmation & the part of the Sacrament of what used to be called Last Rites and is now referred to as Anointing of the Sick. Another instance that comes to mind is when a priest is ordained his hands are anointed with oil.

    dog euthanasia

I am sorry but I find it very hard to find sympathy for you. Pet euthanasia is one of the most heartwrenching decisions that must be made and it is usually because a pet is physically suffering or its death is impending, not because it is now unwanted. I, personally, consider my pets as children and would never have chosen a place that would not accept them---period! As for the behavioral issues, they are the same as a child's---there is always a way to overcome bad behavior, it just takes time and commitment. Any vet that is willing to kill your pet because of the reasoning you are giving should give up practicing. Pets are not any more disposable as children. BTW, with what you describe as the agressiveness, seems more to be that your dog is trying to be the protector to both of you. This is easily cured with proper training.

Anyone interested in a prayer thread?

Please send up prayers for my husband's friend Mark. My husband just received a call from him, where he is afraid of dying & asking for prayers. Mark is alone in a small rural town in North Texas and has no family. He is also considered mentally 'slow' & does not understand what is happening to him. From the conversation my husband just had with him (while driving home from work), Mark is saying that he was placed in a Nursing Home because he is unemployed and the hospital knew he couldn't pay the bill. He says that for over a month he was seeing a doctor for headaches, back, leg and arm pain and was treated for constipation (which he said he didn't have), until a week ago he was unable to walk and called an ambulance. The diagosis seems to be 'a spine infection' where he was sent to the Nursing Home to receive abx and then have 6 weeks of 'therapy.' My husband doesn't know what to ask, so that's all the informaton he gave me when he got home from work. My husband is going to visit Mark tomorrow and see if he is willing to give me his medical power of attorney so I can, at least, look over his medical records; and, he will make sure his dogs and home are being cared for. Mark is a beautiful and kind soul, who has retained a childlike quality. He has no understanding of what is happening to him and would appreciate (and has requested) prayers being said on his behalf since he has so few people in his life. Thank you, all nurses.
