Waxing, shaving, and other ways to be hair-free

I started a thread about this a while back. I wish I had answers, but have the same problems you do, except for the little boys interrupting. In the summer I have to shave every single day to get a close shave, and even then it really isn't that close. I was interrested in getting my legs waxed but you have to let the hair grow out for like a month and half for it to be long enough and I just can't do that, especially in the summer. I tried Nair, it was awful, it did remove the hair but the very next day is was back, I got the same results as I would have if I shaved. I seriously am thinking about looking into those "laser" hair removal techniques.

    Having children in your 30's

OMG!!!! I hope you can still have kids well into your 30's because I'm 29 and haven't even started yet. I don't plan on having my first until I'm at least 30 years old ;-) Honestly, I'm not knockin anyone that had their children when they were in their 20's but I cannot imagine starting my family when I was in my 20's. I am so much more grounded and focused and financially secure now than I ever was when I was 25, 26 or 27. So, I say go for it!

So sad and scared about my doggie

Hi Sharann, I'm so sorry about your pup. I had a cat once who lived to be about 12 years old. We had to put him down because in the middle of the night we awoke to him kind of meowing/crying. The upper half of his body was fine but he was unable to move his hind quarters and was dragging himself with his front legs. We rushed him to the vet and he had no feeling in his lower extremeities, nor any blood flow. It turned out that he had thrown a clot that blocked all blood flow to the lower portion of his body. We had to put him down that night. I sincerely hope that you pup is having some other treatable problem.

Cheating husband & his wife doesn't know...

Never been in this situation but I truly feel for your predicament. I think I would tell her what happened and that her husband told you about his cheating. Maybe if we lived in a world without STD's, HIV and AIDS it would be a different story but it sounds like this guy really sleeps around. Who knows what he could be taking home to his wife. He is putting her health and life at risk and I don't think I could knowingly do that to another person. Especially as a health care provider. Even if you did not divulge all of this to the wife, you can't be friends with them any longer anyway. No matter what you do your "friendship" has been forever changed and possibly ruined by what you know. Could you still remain friends with her with this heavy burden on your mind? If you truly care for her I don't see how you could. Either way the friendship is irrevocably changed and possibly ruined forever, at least if you tell her she can at least protect her health. How you tell her is another story but I would tell her.

Help! My fathers girlfriend is nuts!

Hi Ang, I loved your response and glad to see that it worked. My husband and I have been married for close to 4 years and are no where near ready to start a family yet. When his friends or co-workers say things to him like "why haven't you started a family yet?" he replies back, "Well, you'll have to hold her down first." That shuts people up real fast. We're really not ones for rude comments but starting a family is such a personal decision, I can't believe some people think that it is acceptable to ask those types of questions. Especially with so many couples with fertility issues.

    strict hubby, daughter miscarried

Hi Olive, I'm glad you were able to get your daughter to the doctor. To be honest with you, the very first thing I thought of when you mentioned that your daugther came to you saying that she miscarried was that she was actually having complications from an abortion. I hope this wasn't the case, but my experience has been that teens tend to tell half truths when they think they'll get in trouble. Sort of gloss over the information and spin it so that you get the important information but maybe not all of the background info. Anyway, I just wanted to add if your husband asks tell him she was having problems with her period and hopefully that's all he needs to know and will want to stay out of it. Good luck, Col

    Shaklee Vitamins

I understand that if you are taking pre-natal vitamins because you are pregnant or hope to be, you should stick with the special "pre-natal" vitamins because many regular OTC vitamins lack Folic Acid which is very imporant for fetal growth and healthy development. Also, pre-natal vitamins provide the necessary quantities of other vitamins and minerals. If they make a pre-natal vitamin, I would check to see that Folic Acid and other vitamins and minerals are in sufficient quantities.

    Leg Waxing and the like

Athomas, Be careful when you look into the laser procedures. I saw a news report once with a young girl who had the procedure done. After it was all over she noticed round red marks on her legs (the shape of the laser tool). It turned out the laser gave her second and third degree burns all over her legs. I felt so bad for her, even years later she still had really bad scars. I think they said that the cosmotologist operating the laser equipment should be specially licensed/credentialed so I would check into that before just signing yourself up.

    Leg Waxing and the like

The problem I have with shaving is that I never have a nice close shave and there is always some amt. of stubble left and since my leg hair is dark even after I shave you can still see the hair in the pore. Not a problem in winter but not attractive in summer. Plus, I have to shave every single day. I tried Nad's a few years ago and it was horrible. Didn't stick to the hair enough to rip it out but stuck enough to make it really painful to get off. I wanted to try leg waxing at my local salon but it's $60.00 for just both lower legs and I read that you have to let your hair grow to at least 1/4 inch long. That will take me a whole month which isn't a problem now but later on in summer I don't want to have to wear pants in 90 degree weather for a month so I can have my legs waxed. What do you guys think?

    Leg Waxing and the like

Spring time is around the bend........ Does anyone have any recommendations on at home leg hair removal products such as Nair or wax products that you can use at home? I would like to give it a try but don't want to waste my time or money on something that won't work. Let me know if you have ever tried anything and what you thought of the results. I would love to use something like a wax that will last a while but don't know if cream like Nair will last as long. Thanks

    Baby Cat Needs a Colectomy

I am also glad that everything has worked out. And a vet bill of $280.00 sounds pretty good to me considering they wanted to put her down in the first place. I have two cats and just to get them their yearly checkups is about $180.00. I'm glad you could find a knowedgable vet who really took an interest in providing the best care possible. I guess in a way we should treat vets. like we would a human doctor. If we were sick and went to a doctor and didn't like his prognosis or treatment we would probably go find a new doctor, guess we should do the same when we run into vets. that we don't agree with too.

    Bad car accident last week...

Even a minor fender bender can leave someone feeling fearful of driving. I can only imagine how that feeling would be compunded with a crazy driver coming at you from behind. Maybe the airbags did not go off because you were so airborn when your car rolled forward and then rolled on it's side rather than actualy making an abrupt stop by the front making contact with another object as you would see in a 'typical' car accident. Good luck with everything, I hope they prosecute this person for the sake of everyone's safety.

Any good tips to know before building a house

Guess I got lucky, my Buyers Agent had an MBA with a concentration in Real Estate Law, a lawyer and their fees would have been a waste of monetary resources for the simple purchase of land.

    Bad car accident last week...

OMG!!! I can't believe that happened to you. It truly is amazing that your son was not injured and although you sustained injuries it could have been so much worse. I hope you make a speedy recovery and get over the emotional baggage that an accident of this nature can leave one with. I don't know how you feel about it all, but if it was me, I would make sure this person was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I know in PA they passed a bill that says if you are hit/injured by a driver under the influence you can pursue them in a civil suit, you don't have to just take whatever insurance gives you. Don't know if that's true for ilicit drugs also. I will wish for a fast recovery, Col
