    Racism in The United States

I think for most part most people if treated fairly will treat you fairly. But just like anything else there are exceptions to the rule. I briefly dated a Mexican American guy in 2009 and when I met his mother I was polite and first thing out her mouth about me (actually white people all around) was "I don't like white people" I was taken aback by this because I was raised in New Orleans and was told from early on not to prejudge anyone to be nice to those who were nice and that's always been my approach. Then another time I was dating a different guy a few years later a supposed mutual friend of ours stated "Mexican women are better because white women are more materialistic" I was say what like what? I've seen all races of women and men be materialistic. But now I'm happy to be single and materials have never won me over if so I wouldn't have dated mostly broke guys. lol!

    Where are we headed?

I lived with and around addicts so I do have compassion for them but my compassion mostly goes out to the innocence of children. The woman I shared an apartment with for 3 years I felt sorry for and worried about her a great deal but had those moments of head banging against a brick wall frustration. I could probably be accused of crossing lines by going to her care team to tell them if they didn't act soon she would die! I'm not a nurse yet and don't pretend to be one but common sense should prevail when a known heroin addict has gone from a comfortable 145lbs to anorexic looking and I don't just mean thin I mean sunk in. And her speech was so incoherent to the point that a person with dementia makes more sense! Plate pool war dog... Is about the kind of sentences she made at best. How the heck did her care team that came over every week not see this? In San Diego they could have committed her on a 5150 very easily as she was gravely ill. I do have compassion though but again my greatest compassion is for children and them being denied basic right to basic food. That's where my frustration lies.

I don't blame the victim at any time but the real victims in the case of parents spending funds on their addictions is the children. yes addiction is a disease but disease shouldn't interfere with the care of children. I also believe if the caregiver of children is addicted then rehab is needed. Also the social security administration in California at least makes sure that anyone with substance abuse on record gets a payee to make sure funds are used as they are supposed to be used. I think this should be implemented in other public benefits.

    Where are we headed?

Im not bitter by far. I am compassionate or I wouldn't shed tears over those I've seen sleeping on sidewalks 100s that lines the streets. Also i do not like greed to me privalaged and poor alike can be greedy. When someone is poor you may wonder how they can be greedy in my definition if you are all take and no give then you are greedy. Not to say all poor or all rich so please do not misconstrue it that way. When I was in a higher tax bracket and worked over time I had some coworkers tell me "what's the point it's all going to go to taxes" my response was "well if it goes to help feed someone then ok" So I'm not a meany bullying the poor as you think. I've made it clear over and over I do not like any type of waste of resources. I do want more people to be motivated to do something not just for the economy's sake but I think it just feels good to go out and do something even if all a person can mentally or physically endure is a few hours a day. As well I do not think ones success can be measured in dollars because the most awful person can be financially successful and a very poor person with no material goods can be a successful human being. Another thing I wanted to point out anyone at any economic level can have diminished social values. Again money doesn't equal bad person no more than poverty equals good person or someone which doesn't have short comings. Im never bitter not strawberries and sunshine but not bitter that's why I can laugh through a lot.

    Where are we headed?

I do know for sure! Up close and personal is my life experience... I think having my tent stolen and laughing about it then and now is up close and personal I mean how the heck and who the heck steals a tent from a homeless person lol! Yep I've got a sense of humor even when I had to eat peanut butter which had gotten infested by ants because whoever stole my tent also stole my better ice chest lol! Oh well we scooped the ants out and put it on bread. I come off harsh but I've seen a lot including homeless in wheel chairs and I've seen also the other side where someone brags about being lazy and being a substance abuser because they can.

    Where are we headed?

Fair enough! I know the woes of the economy are not the fault of any particular group. My pount of view as to where I've seen fraud and abuse up close and personal is from residing in areas where everyone is poor. It does make me wonder why some thrive and keep trying and then there are those that truly do not want to try any more. Maybe I expect more out of my peers I seen and spoken with those that when not high or drunk that have intellect and common sense, therefore, it frustrates me to see them resort to drugs and to lack motivation. Ive come from a lot of rough roads and still I strive for something more. So may sound chest pounding I'm not but merely making a point that wow we live in the same neighborhood same education similar past so what gives?

    Where are we headed?

I agree! This is what I'm talking about getting people motivated to get to or back to work. I do think there are those with barriers to employment which is understandable. I also think that there are those out there that have a survival of the fittest mentality and will never understand that either.

Also back to the original topic no I'm not in favor of Obamacare I don't feel anyone should be forced to buy health insurance.

    Where are we headed?

Let me make this clear since you don't seem to understand I am a good person by many standards regardless of my income level. I do not want to cut safety net programs for anyone I simply do not understand why people like you want to continue to give away hard earned tax dollars to those that are addicted to drugs to buy more drugs instead of feeding and taking care of the children the benefits were intended for! this is fraud not only against the tax payer but the innocent children in which the benefits are paid to benefit them. If you can not reasonably say this is fraud against children then something is amiss here. Another thing I said about the poor that you seem to think I am calling bad poor people is the fact that there are those who do chose to not even try to do anything else and yes i have known those that have stated exactly that. Valid reasons to not work in my opinion are as follows: Disability (even the invisible disabilities) Having children with disabilities which require parents to miss work due to frequent Dr visits. The single parent which if went to work would pay out more to put a child in daycare than to work. In some areas though there is day care assistance to help but that's hard to come by. Also low wage earners which are doing everything they can and need help top keep food on the table etc..,. no I do not have a problem with that either. But to see drug addicts stealing from their children's food money for drugs is where I have the main problem. If you cant see a problem with someone buying heroin or crack with food money then I do not know what to tell you other than than its fraud. Also I am against any form of abuse of the system even corporate welfare for corporations. And to clarify I do not label people as good poor people and bad poor people I simply say good and bad because believe me I have seen good and bad in every level of income persons.

    The entitlement of the privileged

As far as entitlements of the rich go. I've done some research online over a few years and from what I've read corporate welfare doesn't work like social welfare. With social welfare the more assets you have the less welfare you get. With corporate welfare, however, the more assets you have the more welfare you get. At least that's what I've read. Although I'm not a beat up and pick on the rich type person I shake my head and think "oh really you can get welfare but the poor or low income get it and it's frowned on by you and others like you? That's hypocrisy.
