A woman who works at my school cafe, who I became friends with needs prayers, as does her husband. About 1.5 months ago he got into a minor car accident and bumped his head, just hard enough to pop a lens out of his glasses. Two days later at work he passed out and it was found on CT examination that he had blood clots in his brain. His neurologist said they were going to wait a month and see if they dissolved by themselves.
Well 3 weeks or so ago he had a second MRI and they had increased in size. He was sent to a neurosurgeon to determine what was going to be done. The doctor gave him something that he hoped would help the clots dissolve. About a week later he got into a very serious accident. He was air lifted to one of the major hospitals in the city, and was in the ICU for days. He had bleeding in the brain, internal bleeding, broken ribs, bruised lungs, had a chest tube and feedings through an NG tube. He was conscious but groggy (probably from the meds I reckon).
He is doing better, he got the chest tube out yesterday and his nurse and PT got him up today and he sat for a while in a chair in the hall by the nurses station. He is still being fed through a tube in his nose (as the wife put it, I am assuming an NG tube?). Because he aspirates if he eats. He either had a swallow study and endoscopy done today or is tomorrow, she was not exactly sure.
He also has epilepsy his wife thinks is why he got into the second accident. She said she reckons he either had a seizure (he has petite mal type) or passed out. She had been concerned about the blood clots because as she put it, he was having a warped sense of perception. She gave the example of they would be coming to a stop sign and she would say, "Honey you should be stopping" his response would be "I am" but only then would he begin to.
Additionally he is somewhere between the ages of 60 and 75 I am not exactly sure of the exact age but know it is somewhere in there. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him, and it is really hard on his wife, especially because she does not drive so it is very difficult for her to get in to the hospital to see him, to get there by public transport it takes 2 busses and 2 trains and takes approximately 2 hours.
The wife is VERY stressed out. I spoke with her for the first time today. It happened last Tuesday but I took some time before I called because, well I had no idea what to say to her at all. So if you guys could pray that would be great.
