Also an excellent post, and certainly reasonable.
I don't want no government regulation, or no taxes, or no public works. What I want is reasonable regulation that respects the needs of both job creators and the freedom of the individual, and a more fiscally responsible government. Trying to change behaviors with stupid things like huge soda taxes, taxes on foods with certain fat or salt contents, banning straws or even triple taxing cigarettes is counter-productive. Worse, it disproportionately penalizes the poor and working class.
The majority of true conservatives have no issues with homosexuality. We very much believe in live and let live, and the individual's right to the pursuit of happiness. Hell, I'm a male nurse. It's not as if I don't have more than a few gay men and women as friends and colleagues. What's tiring is the constant screed of all Republicans as racist, homophobic, misogynistic, islamophobic, xenophobic, Nazis, white supremacists, deplorable, evil and etc. And that's not the left wing fringe. That's the party leadership and mainstream media along with the majority of our "cultural elite".
Hell, this is Lil Nel yesterday. "Either they really do respect and admire the sexist, xenophobic, racist, environmental damage, no concern for the truth ways of the buffoon, or their ego is such, that the simply can't bring themselves to admit their grievous error in 2016." In the leftist mind, it's impossible to disagree with them about the role of government or cultural issues with anything other than evil intent. Sincere and reasonable dialogue is impossible.
And the increasing calls for violence against Trump cabinet members and conservatives in general is more than a bit disturbing.
I wish more on the left were as reasonable as you seem to be. If you're ever in Wisconsin, would love to buy you a steak and a beer.
