    Back on my %^#$ diet

Easier said than done sometimes.....but maybe try to think about food and exercise as a lifestyle, not a diet. Diets are bound to fail because they are restrictive. What you consume is your diet. I've always felt that everything in moderation is the key. If you want ice cream or chocolate, eat it. Just make sure you include some healthy choices in your day. Eat breakfast. And get some moderate exercise. Thinking of this as a lifestyle choice puts a more positive spin on it. I love sweets. I eat sweets every day. But I eat all the good stuff too. I used to sit on an exercise bike in front of the tv if I didn't want to do hard exercise. I hope this helps some of you.

When is the ideal time to have children?

I spent many years traveling, and I plan to do more. I'm 38 now, and decided seven years ago that it would be unlikely for me to have kids. I am definitely not having any now. I want to go to grad school instead.

    Are you happy being single?

I'm happier single than in any relationship. Some of my NAs have offered to set me up. My reply? "I'll meet my boyfriend when I'm in the nursing home." (As a resident).

How many out there aren't religious?

Also, the majority of people when faced with life or death could care less about the religious beliefs of their nurse. They just want safe care and a smile.

How many out there aren't religious?

No one has ever requested for me not to care for them because of my religion. My religious beliefs or lack thereof is not something that enters into work conversation. Why would it? That is my personal business.

How many out there aren't religious?

I'm not religious, but I respect other people's religions. Religion has nothing to do with nursing, at least not in this day. My beliefs are spiritually based. That's a huge difference.

    I feel yucky

You have to take care of your own health first. Colds are yucky. Stay home and rest. I hope you feel better soon :)

    Unsolicited Opinions

Unless its something I truly care to comment on, I usually just smile and walk away. I find too many people have unwanted opinions, and most of the time, it isn't worth my energy. In the end, I know I'll do what I please anyway. The unwanted busybodies don't matter.

Time to get in shape... what did YOU do today?!?

A walk and some yoga. And then I ate 2 100 calorie packs of Chips Ahoy cookie bits:p
  10. Maybe nurses would be healthier if they weren't so stressed most of the time from being overworked, and then told it is our lack of "time management" BS. Like, for example, missing breaks on a 12 hour shift because another admission came, and there is no coverage. Not to mention, avoiding going pee for extended periods, and getting a bladder infection. A few nurses told me this happened to them. Or when infection control staff remove the protocols on a pt who has strep, only to find out after 9 hours of providing care, that, "woops..he's back on. Sorry, we messed up?" What??! And the list could go on....

You win lottery, quit or keep working?

I'd work part time or volunteer and travel the rest.
