    Sewing, anyone?

Are there any people who sew here? (I originally asked for sewers, but it just looked wrong, and all I could envision was dirty plumbing...). I have decided that I am going to get myself a machine and a DVD and teach myself to sew. I'd like to make my own scrub tops, and maybe tackle household stuff like napkins, pillows, etc. If you do know your way around a machine, what type would you recommend? Any tips/hints/helps while getting started? Thanks!

    Onto the next step.

You and me both, my friend. I blamed my mother for my diagnosis. Years of being told to clean my plate because of starving children in Korea... I never learned how to eat properly. And now, with every restaurant on the planet serving portions that would feed a family of four, it's impossible to control. MUST ... CLEAN ... PLATE ... !!! The good thing is that there seems to be a healthy alternative for just about everything. Brown rice, whole grain pastas and breads ... I even found sugar free jam that's not too bad. I don't fry anything anymore. I still eat chocolate, but now it's just a piece per day, instead of the entire bag. And I keep apples, bananas, grapes and oranges around just to snack on. Hopefully, if I can add some organized cardio and weight training to the mix, I'll be able to take my shirt off in public without making people ill...

I wish you tons of luck and success in your endeavors. I've managed to drop about 20 pounds in about 2 months just by cutting way back on the carbs and eating breakfast. I'm a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic, and I've found that portion control, eating fresh fruits and vegetables and getting rid of "white" food has helped me to keep the glucose under control as well as drop some poundage. The only thing I have yet to do is join a gym and get a trainer. I don't know what I'm afraid of, but I just haven't been able to do it ... yet. I'm eager to hear how you're doing with it.

GOOD MORNING, AFTERNOON, or EVENING to you all! It's been ages since I've posted on the GM thread. There are new people to know and old acquaintances to renew. It's so good to see you all. We have some fog and rain here in the northeast. I'm working tonight so this wll be good sleeping weather. Thanks to all who posted pictures of their feline furbabies! Those of you who know me know also that I LOVE the cats. I have some new ones of my two somewhere; I'll try to get them loaded soon. New job news: I'm leaving telemetry and going to the Cancer Center ay my facility. Those amazing people saved my life and my sanity just over 5 years ago, and this wonderul opportunity to give back just literally fell into my lap this past week. I'll be working the chemotherapy side of things. To say I'm excited doesn't begin to do justice to the way I really feel, but I am so excited! I have a lot to learn, and I can't wait to get started. I begin there the day after Memorial Day. That's about it for now, I suppose. Be well, and be blessed. Peace. Don

mister or miss? Madam or sir?

Thanks for this response, Kathy. I, too, didn't see anything in the OP that identified the person as gay.
