Obama pokes fun at himself at correspondents' dinner

I thought he did pretty good. Finally put to rest the teleprompter issue - the thing that Hannity uses every night. The right to bare arms is now in the lexicon!
  2. WASHINGTON (AFP) – US President Barack Obama poked fun at himself, his cabinet and the journalists who covered him at his first star-studded annual dinner with White House correspondents. The president joked about his reliance on a teleprompter and at what critics say is the easy ride he gets from Washington journalists. "Most of you covered me, all of you voted for me," Obama told more than 2,000 guests in the Cabinet Ballroom of the Washington Hilton Hotel. "In the next 100 days, I will learn to get off the prompter and Joe Biden will learn to get on the prompter," the president continued referring to his vice president. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090510/ts_alt_afp/uspoliticsobamaentertainment_20090510032309 I'm shocked you guy's weren't already talking about it.

Five reasons the National Council for a New America won't work

I make pasta with Lori, cake with Steph and I have no clue about your gay reference. It's cool with me though. Power to the people.

White House apologizes for Obama plane's NY flyover

I wouldn't count on the good people of New York wavering 8 minutes of a poor choice against 8 years of stupid. What are you selling again?
  6. This isn't news. Religious folks act strange as a normal function. Torture and the death penalty are something they just read about when learning about Jesus. Not a big deal with Republicans.

Make it 5 hours - I must finish cutting the lawn so my neighbors don't turn me in. Congrats, Hillary. Under the arch we meet for an AN high five!

Five reasons the National Council for a New America won't work

Great Time article: Republicans in Distress: Is the Party Over? As the party has shrunk to its base, it has catered even more to its base's biases, insisting that the New Deal made the Depression worse, carbon emissions are fine for the environment and tax cuts actually boost revenues-even though the vast majority of historians, scientists and economists disagree. The RNC is about to vote on a kindergartenish resolution to change the name of its opponent to the Democrat Socialist Party. This plays well with hard-core culture warriors and tea-party activists convinced that a dictator-President is plotting to seize their guns, choose their doctors and put ACORN in charge of the Census, but it ultimately produces even more shrinkage, which gives the base even more influence-and the death spiral continues. "We're excluding the young, minorities, environmentalists, pro-choice-the list goes on," says Olympia Snowe of Maine, one of two moderate Republicans left in the Senate after Specter's switch. "Ideological purity is not the ticket to the promised land." http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1896588,00.html

I'm waiting for a little more information to come out. Right now it's not clear what exactly she was briefed on, but I'm looking forward to finding out.
