Good morning- It's sunny, but cool here. It's not supposed to get above 50. My older cat had her first spring adventure, going walkabout for 3 days. My neighbor found her sleeping peacefully under her deck yesterday and brought her home. She ate like a pig and went right to sleep. Her record walkabout is 29 days. She is microchipped and has her name and my phone number on her collar. She will be 17 next month. Joe-Glad you get to see J tonight. I hope he is feeling better. Nel-I hope Wally enjoys his day of beauty. Seeing Garrison Keillor would be fun! Stars-Good luck with Nannie. She isn't going to change. It's hard to believe she hasn't had a serious injury yet. Hope all have a good day!

Good morning- Yesterday was a beautiful day. It hit the high 60s, so we went for a long beach walk. The water temp was right around 50, so I didn't even put my toes in. Both DD and my sister stopped by when we got back, and then we had a good dinner and went out for ice cream. I'm volunteering at a charity event at my synagogue this morning, and then may go for a bike ride this afternoon. My sister and her 14 year old son are going to China next week. He is studying Mandarin in school and has picked it up quickly. He has autism spectrum disorder, and is extremely skilled in math and languages. He had a difficult time socially this past year, but has made great progress in dealing with his emotions, so this trip is a reward for all his hard work. It is a group trip with an educational organization and he will be going to school in Beijing for a week and staying with a host family for a few nights. The parents will be tourists while the kids are with their host families. I'm so excited for them both. I wish I could go with them. Tweety-I didn't realize your trip was so soon! I hope you have a wonderful time and see lots of cherry blossoms. Post pics on FB if you can. Safe travels. Hope all have a great day!

    Presidential Election 2020

So you think it's all the liberals fault that the US doesn't rank #1 in happiness? Let's see...we are pretty high ranking in gun violence, we have one of the highest rankings for maternal death in developed countries, we rank somewhere around 27th for health and education, etc. But that is all the fault of the liberals who actually want to take steps to improve those areas. It's the conservatives who elected a president ( and female genital grabber) who put an absolutely unqualified person like De Vos in charge of education, who want to cut Medicare and Medicaid, resulting in even poorer health outcomes, and want to have so-called "Christians" insinuating their beliefs into our life and liberty. I bet we would rank higher if you got rid of the White nationalists, the racists, the misogynists, and the elected officials that cater only to the rich and are bought and sold by the NRA.

Good morning- The illusionist show we saw last night was excellent. It was a great blend of comedy and magic, performed in the library room of an old hotel. We really enjoyed it. Today will be a house work day. We have 3 doors to hang and more painting to start. It is supposed to warm up to the low 60s this afternoon, so a walk may be in order. Tweety-I hope work goes well today and you get out at a decent hour. Glad the BP was normal. Ted-How nice that you met a kindred spirit to work with on composing and arrangement! I'm glad that you have your trip to look forward to in a few weeks. Hope all are doing well today.

    The President Donald Trump Thread

That article was actually laughable, not to mention so poorly written. No, Donald Trump owns his "coarseness". The Left didn't create that. He is responsible for his own ignorance and "stagnated ratings". SMH.

Good morning- It's Monday, bleh. I am only working 3 days this week, so I shouldn't complain. I'm off tomorrow for a derm appointment and Friday is my once a month Friday off. I'm looking forward to the short week. Sorry you couldn't sleep, Tweety. I hate insomnia. I really don't want to be up at 3 AM trying to solve the world's problems, . Hope all are well today.

On the cob. It's heavenly. And I agree that clam chowdah must be whole belly clams. Bacon is optional, but bacon is never bad!

I've never heard either of these chants at events I've attended. We did hear "Jews will not replace us" from the video of the Charlottesville rally. You know, from those "very fine people".

    The Congressional Thread

The government also funds the Paralympic military program. Should we pull that too? The measure of a nation is how it treats its most vulnerable and disadvantaged. We really suck at that. Mega tax breaks for the rich, but no more funding for the Special Olympics. Caging children, taking away healthcare, cutting Medicare and Social Security. We should be ashamed.

Hello all! Another sunny day, but still cold. Temps will warm up gradually over the week, to 68 on Saturday. We have a beach walk planned for that day. Not much else going on. I'm trying to find an inexpensive cat window box for Niko. He's an indoor cat, but loves the fresh air, and is too big to lie comfortably on the windowsill. I'd like one with a cat door that can be used all year round. They are upwards of $300!!! I may have to have DD's boyfriend, who is an architect, build one for me. Herring-I feel badly for you and step-mom. I hope something can be done to lift her spirits a little. Take care of yourself, too! NSIME-My mouth is watering now with mention of the steak bomb. Do you remember Bill and Bob's just over the Salem-Beverly bridge? Yum! BTW-I'm going to Farnham's Saturday for lunch. First fried clams of the season! Nel-I agree that healthcare in RI is not up to par. I frequently have to fight with the insurances to get my patients seen by the proper specialists, and forget it if I want them to go to Boston. One of my dear friend's mother just had similar experience to your mother. Ended up with sepsis, but fortunately survived. Yup, in RI. Safe travels to you! Tweety-Hope the beach walk was soothing to you. I think the beach is the best remedy for HTN. Hope you sleep better tonight. Joe-Don't worry about etiquette at th intrview. Don't get drunk, don't burp loudly, and chew with your mouth closed. That ought to cover it. Steph-Sorry to hear about MIL. Sigh-it's hard to watch our loved ones grow old. J22-Sorry to hear you get your former office mate back. I recommend a pair of noise cancelling headphones. Hi Dianah, and anyone else who stops by! Hope all have a good day.

    Presidential Election 2020

My kids were raised to make their own decisions and not blindly follow their parents. My son is apolitical, and does not think voting makes a difference. My daughter is even more liberal than I am. I don't think she's afraid to deviate from anything I believe in. I belong to a liberal Reform Judaism synagogue. We believe strongly in social justice, and that includes what's happening in Israel. No one in the group thinks Israel is infallable and has issues with how the Palestinians are treated by Israel. On the other hand, I have some very right wing Orthodox Jewish cousins who feel Israel can do no wrong, and Trump is wonderful because he allegedly cares about Israel so much. My 86 year old mother had a fight with one of my younger cousins over the weekend because she feels he "has his head up his butt" because he thinks Israel is justified in essentially practicing apartheid. I am so proud of her.

Good morning- Had a productive day yesterday. Got some yard work and painting done. I also had a great workout at the gym and am feeling somewhat virtuous today, . I'll meet DD tonight for dinner. I am heartsick over the suicides of the 2 Parkland survivors. I can't fathom what they went through, but obviously it's having lasting effects. Somehow I feel like we let them down in some way. Joe-Recruiters are weird. The few times I've dealt with them they make you feel like you're the best thing thing since sliced bread, and then they ignore you. I've always done better looking for my own jobs or hearing about a position from someone else. I hope things get confirmed for your interview this week. Tweety-It's going to take a while, as you know, for the acute feelings of missing Billy fade. I totally agree that more than one pet is necessary so the house is never empty. Hope all have a good day.
  19. Good morning! Tweety inspired me with his cooking, so I'm making Shakshouka for breakfast, but not the vegan version. Most of the snow is gone andit's supposed to hit the high 50s today. I'm hoping to get some yard work done. I also want to make some soup that I can take for lunches this week. Fiance has to go to NYC for work the beginning of May, and well go down on Saturday, and I'll drive back Sunday. he'll take the train home Wednesday. We just did this thing called Broadway Roulette, where you pay a discounted price for tickets, but they pick the show for you. You can eliminate up to 6 shows that that you don't want to see. We'll find out next week what show we got. We could go stand in line for day of show tickets, but this was kind of fun, and the price was right. Ted-hope your road isn't ruined. I hope you have a restful day today. Joe-I love Mamma Mia! It's one of my favorite shows. Tweety-How are you doing today? Nel-I see you down there. Did you make it to RI? Hope all are doing well today.

    Winning...the economy under Trump

FWIW-A good economy is not the be all and end all for me and lots of other Americans, and not the only measure of the well being of a country. A good economy doesn't give us decency, clean water, compassion, justice, and food on the table for a lot of people who are not reaping the benefits of said good economy.

Good morning- Deepest sympathy to Ted on the loss of his beloved father. I hope your memories of your Dad will help you through this difficult time. Yesterday was a dull day at work. It was "Q", which was good because we were short staffed. I have a full schedule today but we are also fully staffed, so things should be fine. It's s-l-o-w-l-y getting warmer here. At least it's sunny and the days are getting longer. Joe-Sorry the interview was rescheduled. Hope today's interview goes well. Nel-Glad you did not go unheard about the sleeping tech. Enjoy your dinner tonight. Tweety-Have a good day day off. Is it warmer in FL today? Hope all have a good day.

Good morning! Happy Belated Birthday, Dianah! I know some people who love the weighted blankets. I don't think it would mix well with my nocturnal hot flashes, . I hope you get to go on the Alaska cruise! Joe-Good luck with the interview today, and those later in the week. Tweety-Glad you're feeling well again. Have fun at bowling tonight. It's still chilly here. My phone says it's 33 degrees. It should get up into the 40s for the rest of the week, and maybe hit 50 on the weekend. I just made arrangements to have my septic tank pumped next week. The fun never ends!! Hope all have a great day!

    Saturday 3/16

Good morning- It's a sunny day here. It hit 60 yesterday and there was a lot of melting. I was able to put Lucy the rabbit back in her outdoor hutch, now that I don't have to wade through a foot of snow to get to it. I opened all the windows and aired out the house. Niko and Jolie were happy to sit in an open window for the first time in months. I had my usual busy Friday at work. We stayed in lat night and watched Green Book on pay per view. Fiance had to get up at 3:30 AM to take his DD to the airport. Her original flight back to school was booked on a 737 Max, and this was the only flight she could get back to Kansas today since these planes were grounded. I declined to go to the airport with them. Today I will have my hair cut and colored, and then go for a walk. It's not as warm as yesterday, but still nice in the high 40s. I hope Tweety is feeling better today. Stars-you get mega points for doing the corssword Nannie's way. Herring-I also like to hear about your family. Hi to Nel, J22, Joe, Ted, Dianah, Steph, Shane, and everyone else. Hope it's a good day for y'all.
