    Thursday September,

Morning- Insomnia is kicking my butt again. I got some Camomile-melatonin gummies that are just not doing it for me. I've been up since 3 AM. My big issue is that I can't shut my brain off once I wake up, and then I'm up for the duration. I think it's time to talk to my PCP about this. Maybe I need some kind of cognitive behavioral therapy to learn how to shut my mind off. I do all the sleep hygiene stuff-no screens, no caffeine, bed room at the right temp, etc. Meh. I did read you all, but don't have the brain power to remember what y'all said. I hope Herring and J22 feel better, and that everyone else is ok.

Good morning- It's a beautiful day here, after a night of thunderstorms. We're heading to CT in a bit to celebrate my MIL-to be's 80th birthday. I made a malted chocolate cake to bring. Dianah-Welcome home! I can't wait to hear about your trip. Stars-I'm glad Nannie had a nice birthday. I hope you and DH got to relax after all the guests left and she went to bed. J22-I love to bake bread, but since going low carb I've given it up. Nice that you were able to get out on your bike. Must get dressed and ready to go. Hope all have a great day!

    On 9-12-2019 Debate

Beto O'Rourke won a lot of respect from me last night. Finally, someone with the backbone to come right out and say we should remove all assault-style weapons. There's precedent for this. The US required registration and taxation of tommy guns in the National Firearms Act of 1934, and in 1939 the Supreme Court ruled that the law didn't violate the constitution. Sales of those high powered guns dropped dramtically, and no one lost their freedom or their right to have other types of weapons. Let's do that again.

Morning- Yesterday was bizarro day at work. I spent too much time arguing with a parent that a milk allergy is a food allergy and needs to be documented as such for school. She kept insisting it wasn't, because milk is a drink, not a food. Where is the banging your head on brick wall emoji when you need it? Also had another parent wanting a list of all the milk and egg free choices at Dunkin Donuts. Umm-black coffee??? I don't have their menu and ingredients memorized. The last one was a patient with environmental allergies who said she didn't have any pets at home. I asked if she had any animal exposure at all. She said yes, my DD's dog and cat. I asked how often she was exposed to them, and she said everyday, because my DD lives with me. So I said, but you just told me you don't have pets. Her response-I don't own them, so they're not my pets. Maybe I expect too much... Woke up at 2 AM and by 3:30 decided to get up and go downstairs, where I promptly smashed my foot on the leg of the coffee table. My first 3 toes are nice and swollen, and turning purple. It's gonna be sandals at work today. Sorry, OSHA. Joe-will you be working full time from home or just a few days a week? J22-I hope you get some pain relief from the cream and the gabapentin. I loved the picture of your Main St. My town did something similar on the town common. A man from our town was killed in the attacks in NY, and has family decorates the common and holds a service every year on 9/11. Stars-I'm glad your pain is better, even if you haven't entirely convinced the gypsies to leave town. Wishing all a peaceful day today.

    The President Donald Trump Thread

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/trump-admin-will-deny-temporary-protected-status-bahamians-who-fled-n1052561 I have no words that I can say here without violating TOS. Bahamians who are allowed to come to the US as refugees will not be allowed to work while here. So what are they supposed to do to support themselves? Collect welfare?? We can't have that, can we??? That's anathema to the right. These people have lost everything and need a place to stay while their country is rebuilt. Why not let them work so they can support themselves while they are in the US, and not be a "burden"? Trump touts his low unemployment rate, so I highly doubt they'll be taking any jobs away from Americans. I remember 18 years ago when other countries showed us support in the face of our disaster. Apparently that's been long forgotten, at least by Trump and his minion Stephen Miller. I pray that karma is a real thing.

Morning- Weather was glorious yesterday after a very cool start. We took a short ride down to Newport, RI to see if the surf was high after the remnants of Dorian. It was a little rough, but nothing major. We did the Cliff Walk, which is an almost 4 mile trail set up on the cliffs by the ocean. It goes past several of the old Newport mansions from the Gilded Age. Most of it is paved, but there are a few sections where you have to scramble over rocks. I got hit by a rogue wave that came over one the sections that is a little lower down. I was drenched, but the sun was shining, so I didn't care. We later went into town to have oysters by the water, and then some gelato. Today we are invited to go sailing with a friend of Fiance's. We will stay in the harbor, as their boat is small and there are still high surf advisories. I will take some Dramamine before we go. DD made it back to the mainland last night, as ferries started running again around noon. Tweety-I hope today goes well, whether you have a tech or not. I hope all is ok with you. Hope all enjoy their Sunday!

Good morning! It's another gorgeous day here. I hope to get out for a walk at lunch, even though the only place to walk is around the building and the parking lot. I'm definitely going to skip the trip to the island tomorrow. The morning is supposed to be ok, but 7-9 foot seas and wind are predicted for the afternoon. There isn't enough Dramamine in the world to make that tolerable for me! Tweety-You certainly did right by your patient yesterday. She was lucky to have you as her nurse. It just goes to show how important good nursing care is. Joe-Congrats on your good review! I hope you get to work at home soon. Hope all have a good day. Stay safe if you are in Dorian's path.

Morning- I'm thinking of those in the path of Dorian. That is one scary storm and peoples' lives will be devastated. I am in deep denial that summer is over. Technically, we still have a little less than 3 weeks left. I was planning to go visit DD on the island on Friday, but we may have the remnants of Dorian by then. I can't do a rough ferry ride, and there's nothing to do there in bad weather. She'll be back on the 8th, anyway. Today Fiance's DD is coming for brunch with her new boyfriend. We haven't met him yet. I made an overnight blueberry French toast thing last night which I'll pop in the oven later, and I'll make a veggie frittata. There will be bacon, too. The beach was nice yesterday. It was a little cool at times, but I still went swimming. I'm hoping for 1-2 more beach days before all is said and done for the summer. Tweety-Apple cider donuts are bites of heaven. You boil down apple cider til it's syrupy and use it as the liquid in the batter. Add lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, and you've got one of the only good things about Fall, IMHO. I've made them at home, but then end up eating all of them. I'm glad BF doesn't have any pain. Joe-What design are you making with your cross stitch? Is it a counted cross stitch or a printed design? Have a good day, everyone!

Morning- Had a wonderful day yesterday. We went to my favorite beach, which is near where NSIME grew up and where I used to go as a kid. The weather was perfect and we ended up staying for about 7 hours. It was a terrible day for me diet-wise. We stopped at a farm to get something for breakfast, and I got myself 2 hot apple cider donuts. Bad BC!! I had a chicken caesar wrap for lunch, but didn't eat the wrap. Ok, not so bad. Then we stopped at a seafood place on the way home and I indulged in some fried clams and scallops, along with onion rings and a beer. I think I just need to have lettuce and water for the next week. We saw an unbelievably gorgeous sunset over the water to end the day. We're meeting friends at a different beach today. It's a little on the cool side, but sunny. A sweatshirt is in order, most likely. Tweety-We were talking with friends yesterday about the St. Petersburg area, and they are considering moving there. It's something we are also thinking about for 10 years from now. We will have to schedule a trip at some point to check out the area. Glad you had fun yesterday and had a good meal. Was BF ok being out and about? Joe-Have fun at the barbecue. Hope the rain doesn't interfere. Hi Siri-Hope you got your coffee! NSIME-glad DH is willing to move things along with Nannie. I thought of you yesterday while I was at Crane Beach. J22-Glad you are feeling better. Happy Anniversary! Herring-When is DH's birthday? I hope he enjoys his party. Hi Amo, Dianah, Ted, and the rest of the crew. Hope you're having a good weekend!

Morning- Had a very good visit with the radiation oncologist. He looked at all Mom's scans and disagrees that there's been a change. He is going to show the scans to a couple of other radiologists, but does not think there's been a recurrence. She'll have another scan in 6 months and we'll see if that shows any changes. Even if it does, he feels that a few radiation treatments would take care of it. We are all feeling relieved, and very, very lucky. We celebrated with lobster afterwards! My lawn looks like crap. It's been very dry in recent weeks, so it's brown, rather than green. At least I don't have to mow it when it doesn't grow. Tweety- Can BF sleep with the bone stimulator on and use it overnight? It would make me crazy to be stuck in the house for that long. You've been a great friend to him and I'm sure you're keeping him sane. Amo-I didn't realize you'd been so ill. Wishing for better days ahead for you. Time for work. Talk to you later.

Good morning- I got back around 7:30 last night from Maine. I had a great time with my friends. We went for boat rides and floated in the lake. It was perfect. It was quite chilly at night, getting down to the high 40s, but then back up to the mid 70s during the day. We saw bald eagles and loons. Back to the grind today. Tomorrow I have to take my mother to the radiation oncologist. It looks like she has a recurrence of lung cancer. She's been cancer free for 10 years, so this was a surprise. It appears to be a very small nodule. I'm hoping some radiation takes care of it. I'm also concerned I'm not getting the whole story from her. She tends to minimize things, whether out of denial or not wanting to worry others. She is a very young and active 87, and she's not ready to go yet. I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning- I'm leaving in a few minutes to drive up to Maine to spend today and tomorrow with my oldest friends. We met in jr. high school and have stayed friends. There will be four of us staying at my friend Stephanie's house on a lake. Years ago we would have been most concerned about having enough alcohol; now it's about what food to bring, making sure everyone has a fleece jacket for the cool nights, and having a float for everyone for the lake. Times have changed. It's about a 3.5 hour drive. Tweety-glad you got out a little early yesterday. Hope you're able to get a real lunch today. Hope all have a great day.

Morning- Very humid and sticky out today. My hair is very big, . Did not sleep that well last night. Hopefully tonight will be better. I had an end of shift incident , too, yesterday. Our last allergy shot patient had a reaction. It was a child, and he developed hives and angioedema after his shot. A little epi, a little Benadryl, and he was back to rights in no time. Sent him home with a few doses of prednisone. I ended up staying about 45 minutes late to ensure he was ok. He's relatively new to shots and I think ragweed was the culprit. We'll cut his dose next time. Tweety-I hope you get what you want work-wise tomorrow. Joe-What play are you going to see? Ted-I hope your first night back is good to you. Off to work I go. Have a great day!

Ted-I'm not going to move anywhere that is colder and has more snow than I have presently, !!! Your part of the world is gorgeous, though. I'm so happy you're going to meet Nel. I've had the pleasure and she is lovely. Please tell her we miss her on the Daily Diary!
  19. Good afternoon! It's beautiful out, after some wild thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and last night. We had rainbows and lightning at the same time. I did develop a migraine, which happens to me sometimes with quick barometric pressure changes. I didn't sleep well and am dragging today. I am looking forward to bed tonight! Tweety-Step away from the overtime!! 5 12s is nuts. Don't do it! Ted-if you sold your house would you downsize to a smaller house or condo, or rent? Best of luck if you decide to put it on the market. Joe-glad the kitty is better. Working at the fair sounds like fun. J22-Good for you for volunteering at the ride. I hope you have a good vacation. Herring-your NP is gorgeous! I'd be a hypochondriac if he was my PCP. Hope all have a good day.

Hello all! I had a nice 4 days off from work. Went to the beach twice, heard some music, spent some time with family. Now back at the grind. I have to work a full 5 days this week. Oh, the horror! We had big thunderstorms last night. It was good to get the rain, but it's very hot and humid today. Should cool down later in the week. Tweety-Glad you had a nice Sunday. Joe-I hope your cat is ok. Hope all goes well at work with the new procedures. Ted-Amy's play sounds like fun! Bet you are staying inside today. It's beastly hot out there. Stars-I think of you daily and hope today is a better day at your house. Hope all have a good day.

Morning- I've been off the last 2 days. We went to a concert Thursday night, and I usually work a little later on Thursdays, and then didn't want to have to get up early Friday. We spent a little time at the beach yesterday, but the fog rolled in after a couple of hours so we left. Today we are going to an anniversary party for my aunt and uncle. It will be nice to see my cousins. We got some potentially bad news on Thursday. My mother is a 10 year lung cancer survivor, but her most recent scan showed an increase in the size of a lung nodule they've been watching. It may very well be benign, but I'm taking her to see a radiation oncologist on the 27th just to see what he says. She is a young 87, still healthy, active, and engaged. Keep a good thought for her, please. Joe-Congrats on keeping up with the healthy eating and exercising! It's not easy. Must go feed a very hungry Niko. Hope all have a good Saturday.

Morning- I still have the blues. My cat has not come back and I need to accept that she's likely not going to. Perhaps she was sicker than we thought and she did me a favor by going off to die. This, coupled with an early case of my annual end of summer sadness and a new bout of missing my kids has got me in quite the funk. I'm trying to stay busy, and this too, shall pass. Stars-I'm glad the shot helped the bursitis. Is DH still resistant to seeking help with Nannie? Tweety-I hope today is a pleasant surprise for you at work. It's nice getting that OT paycheck when all is said and done. Joe-I hope splitting the shopping works for you. I'm in the bad habit of going almost every day, as I'm a poor planner. Enjoy your day. Hope all are doing well.

Morning- I worked yesterday morning, and then we took a ride to a fairly local winery to do some tasting. The winery and weather were gorgeous. We explored the area a bit, which is right on the coast, but with lots of farms. I guess there's a little microclimate in the area which makes things grow well. We may hit the beach a bit later. It's on the cool side side now. It was nice to sleep with the windows wide open instead of having the a/c on. Joe-I saw part of House of Wax last night, too. Sounds like yesterday was a good day for you. NSIME-Oy vey! I hope Pippy is better today, and I'm sorry you and DH had to deal with Nannie at her worst yesterday. I hope that the hospital staff will help you find some resources to help care for her. Hope all have a good day.
