    Good morning!
Ted, that is being a team player, but you know that once you say yes once, they'll keep calling you.  We have only a couple of people that will switch shifts like that for overtime and I am not one of them.  Hope you're day goes well.
BC, please be careful and don't fall!
Joe, hopefully you can keep the picky auditor off your case.  Have a good night out.
We got some nice rain last night and it seemed heavy.  Today is a little cooler than yesterday.  Yesterday the air conditioner was on.  Today will be in the low 60's so won't be using it today.
Going to see Michael Buble in concert tonight.  I like his jazzy, old school Frank Sinatra vibe.  I bought the tickets and dinner for best friend for Christmas.  We're going to a buffet there at the venue which seems fancy and cost $55 ($10 off) so it better be good.
Otherwise need to houseclean and go to the gym.  I'm off took tomorrow off as my New Year's Day holiday since I'll be out "late for me" tonight.

Morning Ted and BC hope the winter weather doesn't prove too troublesome
Had snow and strong winds and some ice yesterday, made getting around tricky
Work was better, fairly productive.  I think I am having success changing processes to better adapt to our picky auditor.  Hopefully this won't slow me down too much
After work was also busy, stopped at the post office and grocery store and exercised
Tonight I meet J for dinner then go to choir practice.  J and I are meeting at a place we haven't been to in a while, so that will be nice
Winter weather will ease up a bit for the next week or so, which will also be nice

    Good morning-
We also got about 4 inches of snow.  We closed the office at 3, because road conditions were bad.  It took almost an hour for my usual 20 minute commute.  Things look icy today.  I'll try not to fall again, 😂.  Nothing else to report on.
Ted, hope day shift is ok, and your sleep cycle doesn't get messed up.
Hope all have a good day.

    Good Morning!
It's 3:54 AM (EST) in this part of the world. I'm up early when I really should be sleeping. But, I'm a night-shift worker. So, of course I'm up now!!
Last night was my night off. However, I got a phone call from work basically begging that I work the day shift today. After some quiet whining to myself (I really hate working the day shift), I said, "Yes". So, I'll be leaving for work around 5:30 AM, this morning in hopes to making it to work safely by around 6:30 AM. The day shift starts at 6:45 AM. I haven't worked the day shift in our ICU/CCU in years! But, I'm a freakin' "team-player". (Blech!) L O L!
We got around 4" of snow yesterday. (It is winter, after all!) Those who live north of us got much more. Our driveway hasn't been plowed yet. So, just driving down our driveway this early morning will be a challenge. (Whine!) Thank goodness for studded winter tires and my 4-wheel drive capable Jeep!
Hope all are peacefully making some serious ZZZZZZs now. Think I'll go back to bed and catch about an hour's worth of ZZZZZs myself. I have a LONG day ahead.
    Peace! 🙂
    Ted

I  have an old exercise bike which I use.  I used to do longer, more frequent, less intense workouts.  To save time I've switched to more intense but shorter and less frequent workouts.  Have also been doing calisthenics like push ups and abdominal curls to build muscle in my upper body, since strength exercises are now recommended too

Back to work today, hoping it wont' be too crazy
Temperatures are going to be fairly ordinary this week, although snow expected a couple times, and possibly some freezing rain tonight

Joe, I hate that your job is such a P.I.A. ...I identify!!! People peeking over your shoulder and raking through every word like you have criminal intent. GADS! I bought a used exercise bike once but I could never get it adjusted so that it felt like a bicycle. The seat and the pedals made me have to shift my weight repeatedly, either forward or backward; couldn't get the leg-length from the seat to the pedals to match my, ahem,  physique....so, I brought it back. They only dealt in used stuff, and at the time, there weren't many bikes to choose from. Maybe I could find one here, and have someone 'in the know' help me figure out how to find one that 'fits'. If it doesn't fit, it won't be used. I know walkers and wheelchairs, etc, have to be right for your height in order for them to be useful/functional and comfortable to use.
Nel, you are probably suffering from brain-fog from condensation d/t all that continuing rain!  I say that because you read Tweety's post about his bowling team ... or *I* might have misread it ...  but as I understood it, his bowling team went from 2nd place to 15th place, which is a drop, not an improvement. Be that as it may, he did say bowling was fun! / You are getting more active on the local (and national) political front, it seems. Or maybe you have been in the past and have been ramping up lately. It would drive me stark raving mad, but it sounds like it suits you to a "T". This is why it is so good that it "takes all kinds to make the world go 'round."  I was following a couple of threads of the political nature that you are posting in a lot, but have had to bail out even from just reading them. You are having some "convo's" with some folks that irritate the cold Aitch-E-two-sticks outta me, due to their opinions. I am at the point of skipping a lot of the articles in the newspaper and The WEEK magazine, as more and more I get impatient and depressed with the way things are going in this world. I personally would love to find a nice cozy rock to hide under where I could watch black and white movies from the 1930's and 1940's, and live in my own little world. That's probably not the right thing to do...but I SAW that big ol' basket, and I have heard where it's destination is; I may be part of the world when it leaves for Hades, but OH WELL! It is said that if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem, and also, that if something bothers you, to be part of changing it for the better, and that's what you're doing. I swear I'd be put in The Home for the Whacked Out if I had to participate as you do. I am trying to say that I admire you for all that, but I couldn't do it.
Have to go eat supper. I will be back by later, as I still have a few things to post.

    Hello all.
Glad to read that your bowling team is moving up, Tweety.
Sorry that work is a pain, Joe.
Don't worry about being the crazy bird lady, nursej. I am the crazy cat lady, feeding the parking lot cats, and carrying around cat food in my car.
    Yes, it is still raining.
It poured down rain all last night, and it was pouring this morning, as I drove to Frankfort, for advocacy day with Moms Demand Action On Gun Violence at the Capitol.
This was my second, advocacy day, and it was great.
    It was highly organized.
I saw a librarian from Louisville, whom I haven't seen in years. The public radio station in Louisville used to be located in the downtown library.
So I became friendly with all the librarians. One in particular, because she has horses.
I haven't seen her in years, but she recognized me at sign-in.
I was elected spokesperson for our group as we made our rounds to the lawmakers offices.
One woman in my group, told the state membership director, that I did a phenomenal job, adding that when secretaries weren't interested in what we were selling, I continued on, and was heard.
I believe Mitch McConnell would say: Still, she persisted.
Our focus was a bill that would prohibit convicted domestic violence abusers from purchasing and owning guns.
    Common sense, right?
Kentucky needs to match federal law on the issue. Sad that it is a difficult issue for some lawmakers here.
I saw a reporter I used to work with at the Lexington public radio station.
I was holding the hands of two small children at the time.
He looked at me and said: Now you have kids!
I said: No. They are new friends, that I met today.
For some reason, these kids liked me and wanted to hang out.
Then, I went to barn, and got thoroughly soaked and mud covered.
Yards are flooding. Areas around the barn are flooding.
The temperature dropped 10 degrees, during the 2 hours I was at the barn.
Both Talli and Biggie have two rain sheets a piece. Both of Biggie's are soaking wet.
    I bet Talli's are too.
I was too cold and wet to travel to the other barn to bring him in.
    It is windy and miserable.
Biggie seemed okay with coming in early.
I really can't take much more of this rain.

    Hullo,
It's snowing, again. We got maybe 8 inches overnight, hard to tell with the wind blowing and drifting. Roads that thawed yesterday, refroze and then a new coat of snow made things a little slick.
Yes, we have a species of hummers, called Anna's Hummingbird, year round. I took the feeder out this morning and the little dude was right there. I haven't seen the little female in a couple of days. Dh was grumbly about one of his store managers that thinks he should close for weather. But they are a farm store that sells feed, propane and fire pellets that some people really depend on. So dh says he might just go down there himself and run the store.
I never really saw the bedside report work well, although, I don't think expecting to get report on 7 patients in 30 minutes was realistic. Especially if you have to hunt down 4 or 5 staff to get report. And of course, admits arrive at the same time. I used to have one nurse who would not be ready for report until 45 minutes into the shift. And then, she would want to give me an ICU style report, with every lab done for the last week, all the family dynamics, and what not. I would remind her she told me all that yesterday, but she still had to go through it, every. single. day.
Gosh Joe, that is irritating to have someone comb through your charting like that. Makes its feel like your not trusted. And you seem like a very detail-oriented person. It will be their loss if you go.
Tweety, I would be upset too. I had to get a filling last year, and it seemed much more painful that I remember.
I hope everyone has better weather that expected, and amazing days all around,
    j22

    Good morning!
Joe, sorry to read about yet another nail in the coffin.
Nel, sorry to read about the continued rain and possibility of flooding.  Ugh.. Yep, I filed on Feb 2nd and it my refund was in my account on Feb. 11th.  I used Taxpayer.com again and paid $17 for the service.  My taxes are relatively easy to do.
Herring, we do the bedside shift change walking rounds thing.  I actually like it because I get to see the patients right off and they see me, especially if I don't get to them right away after report.  For confused patient's obviously they don't participate.  The rest of the stuff, not so much.
Took a big long nap yesterday and missed going to the gym.  Don't like when I do that but I needed that nap.  Bowling was fun, but we lost.  We're now in 15th place out of 20.  Big drop from out 2nd place finish last season.  😂
Going to the dentist today to get a filling.  Who gets a filling at 59 years old?  I'm upset about this.

Nel, I am so sorry to hear that you are getting yet still even MORE rain! It ain't right!
Tweety, I have heard of keto dieters and others adding butter to their coffee. At one time it was said to help you lose weight, though I can't see how it would. I tried it but didn't like or dislike it; waste of perfectly good butter, if you ask me!
Joe, What kind of exercises do you do? You are so routine about getting it done, it shames me. I'm good for about 3 days and then I either end up hurting myself by pushing too far, or completely losing interest. *sigh*
I have a fairly good idea where the papers needed to do our taxes can be found, but have yet to gather them and seek out some (free senior citizen) assistance to send it in. Last year the person who did our taxes said we probably wouldn't have to pay anything this year, and that MAY be so, but I did work a couple of months at the beginning of 2018, and we also sold our house (for a pittance), so I'm not sure how that might have affected us. Guess we'll have to wait and see, won't we? But, not wait too much longer!
Steph, for years folks tried to talk me into going back to school to get my RN, and I said the same as you: NO, no, and NO WAY!  The kind of responsibility that an RN has, and in your case a manager, has only grown more and more since then. I always said I'd rather be the grunt. If I was still working I'd say the same. My 'motto' was: "Give me my assignment, give me my paycheck, and leave me alone, and I'll be the best employee you've ever had." People always laughed when I said that, but I was SERIOUS!
j22, You have hummingbirds in the winter when it's snowing????? Whaddya know! I was surprised to see bluebirds here this winter, but am told they are always here in the winter. Never have seen them during winters where-ever else I've lived.
herring, Hubby is surprised to hear I don't need a chauffeur to go to my 1st post-op follow-up appt on Thursday, because I think they will release me to be able to drive now. He says his retirement has been "Driving Ms. Daisies" (his mom and I), and although I believe I am much nicer than Ms. Daisy, he's right. Nearly every week it's been like that, poor guy!
Another cool, gray day. Yippee. We also are supposed to get rain the next two days.
Got a whole chicken cut up, and was going to cook it in the oven, only to find that Nannie's got NO pans in which to do so. Didn't want to get aluminum foil ones as they aren't too great when you want to make gravy in the pan after the chicken's through baking. So, anyway, I just 'skint it' and put it in the crock-pot, and will use it (sans bone, skin/fat) in a casserole, I guess. Or soup. Whatever.
Nannie was trying to tell me that my step-dgt's aunt (on her mom's side) died. First she said it was my niece, then my step-dgt., then her kid, and etc, etc. It took her 5 minutes to arrive at the right person, but had to ask hubby her name a few times. Then just as she started to fill me in with all the nasty, disgusting stories about that family.... I said, "Nannie, I've been married to your son for 29 years and I know ALL about that family, and I don't care to discuss them." Don't know if she is p.o'd at me for that or not, but she's been awfully quiet since then. The thing about Nannie is she hardly ever has anything nice to say about anyone and she practically smacks her lips at the chance to tell everything and all things bad, supposedly shocking, morally corrupt, and/or sinful. She really disgusts ME when she gets going. So often I want to say, "WHO CARES!!!!"
The dogs have 'et' and are sleeping on the sofa like apostrophe marks, covered with a light lap-robe (not that they have laps, mind you). Nannie has her nose in a newspaper puzzle. Hubby is puttering about in the kitchen, and I'm just sitting here looking like this: 😌 because I am enjoying the peace and quiet.
All of y'all behave, now. (Don't ya hate it when someone tells you that? I DO!)

That refund was super fast, Tweety. Didn't you just file last week? Mine usually take 10 to 14 days.
Yeah, I never said, or say anything about what co-workers ate, or eat. I think my payout comes in not being overweight and actually having energy and strength to do physical things.
Hope you enjoy your days off.
Unfortunately, I will not have finished with The Hate U Give, before book club tomorrow.
I've read about five chapters. I think it is because I downloaded it onto my phone, for easy portability. I don't like reading a book on my phone.
We are looking at potential flooding with all the latest rain.
Water pooling in areas, during my drive home this morning.
Will drink coffee and drag myself to the barn.

    G'morning,
Our 1-3" of predicted snow last night turned into 8", with wind, so it drifted a bit. There was a 2 foot drift on the back deck. I waded through it to retrieve the hummingbird feeder to thaw it out. When I re-hung it, the little dude was zooming around my head. I think I have officially turned into crazy bird lady. dh and youngest ds had to leave for work before me, so they dug out the driveway. The drive in wasn't bad. 3 people called out, a couple were late. 8 more inches predicted tomorrow.
Glad to read that Tweety and Nel have survived their arduous stretches. I work 5 days this week, 3 next week, visit the Flower and Garden show in Seattle, and then fly to Arizona to watch Spring Training baseball and soak up some sun and warmth. I am sooooo ready!
    Take care all,
