About That New Jersey Organ Scandal

I just didn't pay attention because I come from NYC, I expect the mob to be buying politicians, some of the Orthodox Jewish community has been involved in money laundering for a long time, and it's common knowledge that desperate poor people in third world nations sell kidneys and get cheated.

Medical bills prompt more than 60 percent of U.S. bankruptcies

My husband just declared bankruptcy and I am settling with creditors from having been denied unemployment and trying to pay the $1,200 a month COBRA cost because the coverage offered by his employer had NO providers in our area.

If one actually reads the book one will discover that forced sterilization and abortion were examined as methods of population control and discarded as unacceptable.

Christ as an armed militant...I have a hard time equating the two

It comes from http://www.tothepeople.com/, a right wing blog. A lot of these folks confuse Christianity and pro-America militarism. Not a surprise, but greatly offensive.

    DIY Cosmetic Surgery

But that doesn't mean that the manufacturers of the misused product are liable for her idiocy. I want blepharoplasty, dermabrasion, and permanent brows, liner, and lips. But I'm not going to take an ice pick and a Sharpie to achieve it.

Moogie, she's obviously one of the people who needs the Preparation H warning not to take orally. Who with an operative brain would inject what is essentially caulking into their lips?!

AZ state senator: Earth is '6,000 years' old

:D In any event, it is a distinction that makes little difference in real-world biology. No one claims that one day a couple of chimpanzees mated and WHAM! delivered a little human. The micro becomes the macro.

Is America's top doc too fat to be surgeon general?

    Wow. Just - wow!

AZ state senator: Earth is '6,000 years' old

http://www.gotquestions.org/microevolution-macroevolution.html Biologists do not distinguish between types of evolution. I can find references to the terms as well, always in discussions of creationism.

AZ state senator: Earth is '6,000 years' old

Your arguments defy all of the rules of logic. YOU begin by accepting the creation story as set forth in Genesis and then fit the facts of earth's history into that box. And "macroevolution" and "microevolution" are terms used only by Creationists. Those invested in examining nature devoid of supernatural explanations make no such faux distinction.

Is America's top doc too fat to be surgeon general?

Huh? I don't recall hearing any criticism of Bush for exercising. I was more concerned with his starting an illegal war based on phony evidence,

AZ state senator: Earth is '6,000 years' old

Once again, science does not deal with proof, but with falsifying hypotheses. Fitting the facts to agree with the theory, which creation "science" does, is called begging the question. It is a fallacious method of reasoning. I say that a blue teapot circles the sun just like the planets. You can't disprove it! Nonsense.

Oh, GOOD FOR YOU! That's a HUGE loss, Marla! What's it done for your diabetes?

And more reliable methods were found and are now in use. This is the difference between science and religion - scientists are willing to discard that which has been falsified or found wanting in favor of that which is more accurate.

Is America's top doc too fat to be surgeon general?

If I am at the highest weight recommended per BMI I am, at 5'5", 150 pounds and a 12 - 14. It is certainly not the weight or look of a Hollywood waif, and is achievable. I think there are a bunch of problems going on with weight. First, a healthy weight has nothing to do with looking like the anorexics on the silver screen. Second, being thin is a sign of higher socioeconomic status, which contributes to the overweight being looked down on. Third, there is a difference between being a bit chubby and being obese. It is possible, but not usual, to be slightly obese and healthy. The lobby of the morbidly obese, led by the idiot Paul Campos and his acolytes at Big Fat Blog, misinterpret any findings that, say, correlate slightly higher weight than is deemed ideal with increased longevity, to mean that being morbidly obese is fine. It is not. I think the new surgeon general looks great. I do not think that her personal struggle with anything needs to be made public.

I'm curious about how we got from a high unemployment rate in the heart of the automobile industry's area to ARMs.
