You are reading page 25 of Presidential Election 2020. If you want to start from the beginning Go to First Page.

If you want a nice peek into the world and minds of Trump voters, read this story, in today's NY Times:

How Trump's Brand Of Grievance Politics Roiled A PA Campaign.

These nice folks call for violence against Democrats, excuse bigoted talk, all in the name of "saving" their culture.

Compare their remarks, to those of the Christchurch mosque shooter; "culture" is the common theme.

The mosque shooter even gave a kind of shout-out to Trump.

Words have meaning.

We live with the consequences when words are dismissed as a simple lack of political correctness.

From today's CNN:

Trump Suggests That Supporters May Get 'Tough' Against Democrats

Trump's remarks were made in an interview with Breitbart.

While I may not hold a lot of respect for Trump supporters, I certainly wouldn't advocate, or call for violence against them.

Nor would I support a candidate who suggested such violence.

Trump's authoritarian rhetoric

Quote

“You know, the left plays a tougher game, it’s very funny. I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. OK? I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump—I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough—until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad. But the left plays it cuter and tougher. Like with all the nonsense that they do in Congress … with all this invest[igations]—that’s all they want to do is —you know, they do things that are nasty. Republicans never played this.

Quote

Leave aside, for a moment, the scattergun syntax and the deeply preposterous idea the Republican Benghazi Party doesn't like itself a congressional investigation. This is the real deal: Here is the president hinting his political opposition could be met with force if "they go to a certain point." What is the "certain point"? Impeachment? Defeating him in the 2020 presidential election? Merely continuing to investigate him in Congress?

Surely we can agree that Trump's rhetoric is dangerous and irresponsible.

Yeah-some of the Trumpsters are still chanting "Lock her up" at his rallies.  Time to move on, folks.

"trying to find balance"

The guy looks foolish. Complete control of Congress for 2 years but this is when he feels compelled to take this "principled" stand? He must be posturing for the folks pulling his strings.

A clear sign that Republicans know they have nothing in the tank for 2020, they are once again resorting to ethnic stereotypes to solidify that rabid base.

From today's Washington Post:

RNC Links 'Noted Irishman' Beto O'clock Rourke's Heritage To 1998 DWI Arrest

Several Republicans have come out against the tactic because they know it implies weakness.

But of course, the Republican party is headed by DJT, who has asked if O' Rourke is "crazy."

In a way, you can hardly blame the RNC for such low-brow attacks.

When your best candidate is nothing more than a common criminal, what else can you do, but appeal to your supporters most base instincts?

The primary focus of Trump and the GOP's 2020 campaigning will be personal attacks and lies about his key issues of immigration, the wall, and the economy. It's going to be spectacularlying ugly.

Don't forget the "they are coming after your guns and you may as well stockpile guns now" fear based rhetoric.   Also the "socialism never works" angle.

And abortion.

That's a big one.  My very religious aunt says it's the #1 issue with her.  She doesn't care about anything else Trump does but she can't vote for anyone that would kill a baby after it's born.  My tongue is still bleeding from biting it.

Ugh.  It's going to be so ugly.  Trump is going to pull out all the stops and his base is going to eat it up.
