Aldous Huxley states, "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."Where is our moral ethos as a profession and as citizens of the United States of America? I know this is a scary time and situation. However, we have to speak up and become advocates.
On December 30th, 2019, Dr. Li Weinliang, a doctor from China, sent a message warning health care officials and workers about a virus "they never saw before." He was forced to denounce the message; he later lost his life to this virus. The virus is called the coronavirus. A virus that could have been contained if President Donald Trump did not gut the federal government of the right and qualified people. These individuals could have been in place to avoid this pandemic that has the potential to kill millions of Americans. Who is tired of the false reassurance? I know I am. As a Register Nurse, we have been rated as an honest profession, and right now, the federal government has failed us because we have an incompetent President. Why was former President Obama - Biden administration able to contain Ebola while President Trump-Pence administration failed the coronavirus hence the outbreak we are seeing today?.

I wrote this because I love being an American citizen. I love this country and admire what it stands for and means. However, the incompetency of this administration is one for the record.

What do you think could have been done by the Trump administration that wasn't, to prevent the spread of this virus?  The travel ban Trump put in place three weeks after first notice of this certainly helped.

Here is what Biden said the day after Trump implemented the ban: "This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia — hysterical xenophobia — and fearmongering".

Do you think Congress shares in responsibility of whatever you are blaming Trump for?  I guess they were pretty busy with the impeachment hearings and all.

What lessons could Trump learn from the Obama administration and how they handled the swine flu pandemic in 2009, when more then 12,000 Americans died?

“We have, right now, a crisis with the coronavirus,” Biden said in Iowa Friday. “This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia - hysterical xenophobia - and fearmongering to lead the way instead of science.”

The former vice president accused the president of curtailing progress on global health oversight that was made during the Obama administration.

Biden cited “draconian cuts” to the budgets of agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)".

Well, did Congress help gut the federal government? President Trump a.k.a  Cheeto administration needs to take ownership of this mismanagement. Since 2017 key positions were NOT filled:

Good response, Luv.

Kudos for standing up to disinformation, and the usual Trumpster tactic of deflection.

Your question addressed the here and now: 2020 NOT 2009.

Again, kudos to you!

What utter foolishness to try and drag Congress into this debate.

Does Congress hire and fire the heads of the CDC or NIH?

No.

Does Congress PROPOSE budgets with cuts to CDC and NIH?

No.

Does Congress meet and sit in the WH?

No.

The buck stops with Donald John Trump.

To try and suggest otherwise, is nonsense and deflection.

In other words, simply the Cult rallying around their leader.

Those budgets were not cut.  Trump proposed cuts (as often is the case for a starting point in negotiations) but in the end they were not for 2020.

Trump declared a public health emergency and travel ban at the end January.

For that, Biden said it was no time for fear mongering and hysteria.

I guess we should be grateful Biden wasnt in charge.

Gosh.

Let's have some REAL fun, shall we?

What lessons could Trump learn from Jimmy Carter, during the original outbreak of Legionaire's disease in 1976?

What lessons could Trump learn from the 1918 outbreak of Spanish influenza?

Here is what the "National Priorities Project" has on their site today:

Quote

...   In 2018, the Trump administration narrowed the epidemiological work of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 49 countries to 10, claiming victory over past outbreaks of diseases like Ebola while cutting so much funding that the CDC had to pull back as much as 80 percent of its health security fieldwork to help control future outbreaks....

...   Emergency funds to control the coronavirus outbreak are obviously necessary, but in the longer run we need to think much bigger. The people of this country don't need more militarized spending. We need Medicare for All, so it's no longer prohibitively expensive for millions of uninsured people to see a doctor when they feel sick during a pandemic...

Who was President in 2018?

"It is also true that in 2018 the Trump administration fired key officials connected to the U.S. pandemic response, and they were not replaced.

Also in 2018, news reports circulated about an 80% reduction in the CDC’s program that worked in various countries to fight epidemics. That was the result of the anticipated depletion of previously allotted funding. “Countries where the CDC is planning to scale back include some of the world’s hot spots for emerging infectious disease, such as China, Pakistan, Haiti, Rwanda and Congo,” the Washington Post reported in 2018."

I do not endorse or support any Presidental candidate, but President Trump did cut the CDC and NIH budget and never bothered to fill in key roles. Biden called him out.

Please start at 19:19

Biden, who has previously been critical of the Trump administration’s handling of the virus, added that the government’s scientists should have more control in responding to the crisis.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that health officials would have to coordinate all of their statements and appearances through Mike Pence’s office after the vice president was tapped by Trump to oversee the government’s response to the outbreak.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/elections-2020/biden-blasts-trump-for-calling-coronavirus-a-hoax/ar-BB10yVL0

“Look, this is a serious, serious, serious problem. It's able to be solved, but it requires us to be absolutely levelheaded and let the scientists have the lead in all of this,” the former vice president said Saturday. “But for him to stop and start talking about being a hoax is absolutely dangerous. It's just not a decent way to act."

Read the last sentence in this quite from the article you linked:

"Legum stated in a follow-up tweet that “Trump also cut funding for the CDC, forcing the CDC to cancel its efforts to help countries prevent infectious-disease threats from becoming epidemics in 39 of 49 countries in 2018. Among the countries abandoned? China.” That was partly true, according to 2018 news reportsstating that funding for the CDC’s global disease outbreak prevention efforts had been reduced by 80%, including funding for the agency’s efforts in China. Anyway, that isn't cause and effect.  Pandemics happen.  This isn't even a pandemic yet according to WHO. This virus killed  6 americans.  Swine flu in 2009 killed 12000 Americans.  Obama's fault.  Of course not.

I ask again what should the Trump administration done that they haven't?

President Trump acts like the presidency is a reality show produced by his good friend Mark Benett (the producer who covered up Trump saying the N-word one of Trump's favorite complicators ).

After the Ebola outbreak, the Obama-Biden administration set a

" CDC programs, part of a global health security initiative, train front-line workers in outbreak detection and work to strengthen laboratory and emergency response systems in countries where disease risks are greatest. The goal is to stop future outbreaks at their source".

https://web.archive.org/web/20200206210123/https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2018/02/01/cdc-to-cut-by-80-percent-efforts-to-prevent-global-disease-outbreak/

Former Vice-President Joe Biden spoke up about the prevention mechanism that was in place. While  President Trump declares the coronavirus a hoax.

00:28

Yes, but there was a system that under President Trump administration fell apart under President Trump aka Cheeto.

He originally states was a "hoax" coronavirus.

He said people are getting better from the coronavirus. The lies of President Trump the numbers have increased. The CDC has not made the test readily available. Americans are dying from this disease.
