(Reuters) - An Arizona man has died and his wife is in critical condition after they ingested chloroquine phosphate - an aquarium cleaning product similar to drugs that have been named by President Trump as potential treatments for coronavirus infection.

The couple, in their 60s, experienced immediate distress after swallowing the drug, an additive used at aquariums to clean fish tanks, according to Banner Health Hospital in Phoenix.

Chloroquine phosphate shares the same active ingredient as malaria drugs that President Trump has touted as possibly effective against COVID-19, the potentially life-threatening disease caused by the coronavirus.

That's just awful.  However, to be fair it was touted by the media as well.  But I do think that Trump shouldn't have mentioned it.  Fauci had to do damage control saying there was no evidenced based practice for that, and Trump said "what have you got to lose?".

Very, very clear that Trump's main concern, is the economy.

Just listen to that presser!

He is truly, a deplorable person.

Deplorable.

I think that it's important to talk about the economy and keep it from collapsing and how to not let it collapse, but seriously the health of our society should take precedent.

Then there's this piggybacking on Trump from Texas.

Putting aside the general message that death would be a better option than a loss on a quarterly statement, there are a couple points to address: New data shows that up to a fifth of those infected that range in age from 20 to 44require hospitalization, deflating Patrick’s claim that only senior Americans face significant risks by reopening the economy. And as of 2018, 2.6 million children were being raised directly by their grandparents — caretakers who may not agree with Patrick’s suggestion of mass geriatric sacrifice

I guess that person discovered what they had to "lose" by listening to advice doled out by Trump.

Anybody else find the irony in right-to-lifers seeming suggesting that older folks have less of a "right" to life because gosh, we have to open this country to business?!

I sure do see the irony.

Of course, I am not surprised.

These folks have a limited play book, and as I posted earlier, we have seen the same plays used over and over.

The American people are collectively facepalming when they hear Trump-haters try to blame our president for someone ingesting fish tank cleaner.

And Gov Cuomo has ordered a big supply of these meds.

Presumably in pharmaceutical form and not as fish tank cleaner.

It's almost like that republican is talking about a death panel or something...because business needs our help, even if that might kill us.  Who decides which people should make the sacrifice?

NY Times has no pay wall with coronavirus coverage, so this article is available to all:

Trump Has Given Unusual Leeway To Fauci, But Aides Say He's Losing His Patience

It seems Dr. Fauci has learned how to play to Trump's need for constant praise, while still getting the TRUTH out to the American public.

Dr Fauci has a a few things to say about President Trump, the job he is doing, and the disgusting behavior of the media.

I know!

C'mon, seniors, you need to be willing to die for the good of the economy.

Only Republicans could come up with such insanity.

Where is Sarah Palin?!!##

Well, well, the Evangelicals are lining up behind their Cult leader.

From today's NY Times:

Jerry Falwell Will Reopen Liberty University, One Of Virginia's Largest School

I am listening to Trump's presser, and what sticks me, is that his babbling is so similar to yesterday's. He is repeating himself.

The rest of the interview is:     Fauci admitted that Trump, “to his credit, even though we disagree on some things, he listens. He goes his own way. He has his own style. But on substantive issues, he does listen to what I say.”

I'm happy that he listens to the experts, but it's too juicy a story that "he goes his own way" for the press not to ignore, whether he wishes they wouldn't do it or not.

But I do appreciate that he's trying to instill some sort of confidence in the President's actions that have been good.  We as a nation do need to have confidence in the President.
