If President Trump did not cut back on the CDC and NIH? We would have known.

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recently lost hundreds of millions of dollars in funding cuts, including a $750 million cut in December. On Friday, President Trump signed a bill that slashed $1.35 billion from its Prevention and Public Health Fund over the next 10 years."

Is China being honest?

Read the last sentence in this quite from the article you linked:

"Legum stated in a follow-up tweet that “Trump also cut funding for the CDC, forcing the CDC to cancel its efforts to help countries prevent infectious-disease threats from becoming epidemics in 39 of 49 countries in 2018. Among the countries abandoned? China.” That was partly true, according to 2018 news reportsstating that funding for the CDC’s global disease outbreak prevention efforts had been reduced by 80%, including funding for the agency’s efforts in China. But that was the result of the anticipated depletion of previously allotted funding, not a direct cut by the Trump administration."

Anyway, that isn't cause and effect.  Pandemics happen.  This isn't even a pandemic yet according to WHO. This virus killed  6 americans.  Swine flu in 2009 killed 12000 Americans.  Obama's fault.  Of course not.

I ask again what should the Trump administration done that they haven't?

Gosh.

Let's have some REAL fun, shall we?

What lessons could Trump learn from Jimmy Carter, during the original outbreak of Legionaire's disease in 1976?

What lessons could Trump learn from the 1918 outbreak of Spanish influenza?

Those budgets were not cut.  Trump proposed cuts (as often is the case for a starting point in negotiations) but in the end they were not for 2020.

Trump declared a public health emergency and travel ban at the end January.

For that, Biden said it was no time for fear mongering and hysteria.

I guess we should be grateful Biden wasnt in charge.

Breaking News it has been declared a pandemic by the head of the CDC.

Pandemics happen, we can't control that, I agree nobody should get criticized for things completely out of their control.

Our ability to prepare and respond is in our control however, in the US those efforts are (were) led by the CDC's pandemic response team, which Trump chose to effectively shutter in 2018.

If Trump was smart, which of course he isn't, he would learn lessons from China's handling of the virus.

Instead of following the doomed playbook that China initially followed, of lying and downplaying the severity of the illness.

Because the authoritarian way of handling things has backfired in China, as it is backfiring here.

From the NY Times, a story that could be our future, if the adults refuse to rein in Trump.

Trump is our country's most current and unnatural enemy to the red-blooded citizens of the United States. This is evident by the policies he has supported and and worked to enact while in office, including the disbanding of the global health team. Shame on him. For the sake of OUR nation, Trump MUST GO. Period.

A huge part of the Problem of Trump, is his continued poor response to the crisis.

He is still shaking hands.

He is still contradicting the experts.

His administration was SLOW to assure Americans affordable access to testing and treatment.

He still insists it will be gone soon.

He was QUICK to protect himself, via attempts to prop up the markets and economy and his re-election.

He is SLOW to do what needs to be done: testing, testing, testing, bans on large group meetings, etc.

And his clueless base listens to HIM.

Fools.

Read a survey yesterday in WaPo, conducted by Survey Monkey, that shows his message has gotten through to his base, but not anybody else.

Thank goodness!

I place a lot of blame on senate and congressional Republicans for propping him up, knowing full well that he is incapable of doing his job.

Actually, he's been doing his job quite well.

Have you seen Biden lately?  Can you with a straight face tell me he's capable?

The lack of enthusiasm for either candidate in these forums hasn't gone unnoticed, btw.

Gosh.

Have you not checked out that Quinnipiac poll that I referenced days ago?

Fifty-six percent of registered voters can tell you with a straight face, that they believe Biden would do a better job with crisis, than Trump.

Fifty-six percent!!!!

I may not be enthused about Biden or Sanders, but so what?

Bozo the Clown could running against Trump, and that would be the person who got my vote.

To borrow a line from PIL,

"Anger is an energy."

Proud Trump haters only need the enthusiasm to vote AGAINST him.

Outside the primary, that is the only enthusiasm that is necessary.
