Then this would bring up the question as to why there were such a great number of tests done?  Was it because they just randomly picked that day to do more testing?  Did they just randomly pick a bunch of people.  Or did the people themselves come with concerns of having been exposed or with symptoms, or just a bunch of people wanting to be tested?  Was testing being ramped up in nursing homes (like here in Florida)?  Was there a back log they were able to catch up on?  Did they just that one day decide to test more people randomly?

Why such a high number of tests being done, which resulted in a high number of positives?

But yes, you can look at it several ways.  The numbers here in Florida increased yesterday, but there were "only" four deaths.  Here in Tampa Bay, a community of seven or eight counties with a population of 2.7 million it was the first time in almost a month where no deaths were recorded in a 24 hour period.  The headline could read "Covid Cases Continue to Rise!".

Still I think it all should be considered, one shouldn't sugar coat a high rate of infection with a "death rates and hospitalizations remain stable".  But all of it.

All good points.

I do think the testing ability has continued to ramp up each and every day.  I know I'm testing more people myself the last week or two then previously.  That will flatten out, and maybe has in some places.  I know at least a few times when there has been a spike in my state, it's been a reporting issue rather then a actual spike in one day.

Also, people who get admitted or go to the OR for everything get tested.  Our OR has begun to reopen and non-covid admissions are increasing,so that is a increase in tests right there.

That's why I keep an eye on hospitalizations.  To me, that's a more accurate measure of how bad things are.  We know many people are going to get it.  Flattening the curve is what the lockdowns were originally about.  To me, that's what we'll need to be looking at to determine if lockdowns are needed again.

Yeah damn them for doing more testing and finding more cases, really makes them look bad.

I'm sorry you wrongly took my reply this way.

I simply dont look at one statistic without looking at it in more context.

It's like saying Floridians must not know how to swim, as they are more drownings there then any other state.

Unfortunately that's what it has become, as the unofficial "start of summer."

Yes, sad as it may be.  I'll give him a pass on saying it.  A lot of people say "Happy Memorial Day".

He made a more appropriate speech at Fort McHenry.

Thank God for semi capable speech writers...

I truly urge all to visit Courier-Journal web site to see pictures of American ISIS or American Idiots, otherwise known as Trumpsters, protesting with their beloved guns yesterday at KY State House.

You can see one protester take a picture of the effigy of Governor Beshear hanging from a tree.

You can see members of American ISIS, march up to Governor's Mansion, armed, and standing and yelling on porch.

These people are dangerous.

And Trump eggs them on, and Tweets they are good people.

Shameful.

The rally was supposedly about Second Amendment rights.

But as you can see from pictures, that theme was lost, and it was really just more whining about social distancing, and CVirus, which these unmasked people clearly feel is a hoax.

Really?

Then why compare TN and KY CVirus death rates, as you did in response to me, to take a swipe at Beshear?

Your statement here, simply doesn't ring true.

These people should be named in community photos and on local community social media pages.

Some of the photos do have names, but not the one of the two men hanging up the effigy from a tree.

There were also racist symbols at the Second Amendment rally, the threepercenter group.

Up here in Alaska, the citizens can just make unsavory people feel unwelcome.  There are no laws broken.  But the unwanted people don't enjoy much "private" life when in public.

I know for a fact that there's a real dirt bag of a sexual predator who is now some other state's problem.  Citizens literally spoke to the police and DA who said that he was immune from prosecution for a heinous crime in the known past.  You know, legal loopholes and unintended consequences.  He couldn't go anywhere that someone wasn't there talking to him about how everyone knew who he was and what he did...

Everybody loves in a small town, I think.  It's just that lots of the small towns actually exist in larger municipal areas.  The "small towns" don't represent the governance so much as the society or community.  Those people who look out for one another in times of trouble.

At least one of these idiots is being named on social media, along with his FB post, which has since been deleted.

I am so inspired by the Kentuckians who are leaving flowers at the State House and sending the Governor and family cards of support.

I will send a card this week.

Reasonable people don't threaten folks over political differences.
