Ok...so listeners of Limbaugh don't find his language and attitude offensive, no surprise there.

That doesn't, however, mean that he is not offensive to the majority of people.

I used to listen to RL and SH and ML daily. RL and ML are offensive on a regular basis. IMHO

By majority of the people, what exactly do you mean? Majority of the people who populate the US? Majority of the people who listen to him? Majority of the people who don't listen to him and only know what someone else says he says?

That statement is misleading and unless qualified, most likely not true.

So you don't listen to him but come on here and disparage a man that you have never heard. Why does this not surpirse me coming from the left. Try and be a little more open minded and enlightened in the future and then you can argue from one side or the other with credibility.

I don't listen to him; the nonsense he discusses on his show ends up all over the liberal media as well; all the sexist, racist, anti-gay crap that makes me cringe.

Sounds like you just summed this President perfectly.

And what exactly is Rush Limbaugh qualified to do other than to espouse said intolerance and bigotry over airwaves???

You would find yourself in the minority. He is hugely popular has a vast audience on both sides of the aisle and single handedly save AM radio. Long list of liberal names that tried getting into radio that have failed. Of course liberals like PMSnbc hire high quality talk show hosts like "resist we much".

The majority of people who don't listen to him on purpose but are exposed to his language via youtube, news outlets, etc.

Most people don't have to buy into what someone else says about him...he leaves an audio record for all to consider. We can listen to his exact words, tone of voice, and his entire message without input from an outsider.

Are you suggesting your personal opinion carries more weight?

Not at all. I am saying that the Seattle Times is not an unbiased source, and any poll done in Seattle wouldn't be either. It might represent Seattle, but that's about all.

Rush Limbaugh has a listenership of somewhere between 14 and 20 million/day.

It is the number one radio show by number of listeners.

His listeners are mostly male, generally over the age of 45 and are caucasion.

There are 313 million people in the US. Most of us who encounter Rush's particular brand of absurdity (outside of his followers) do find at least portions of it offensive...especially women and minorities.

It wasn't a poll done in Seattle, it was a Nationwide poll, a story about it was published in a Seattle paper.
