Hello all,

This is very personal and I don't know who else I can turn to for support or answers. I figured it won't hurt to turn to my fellow nurses for insight.

Just a brief backstory-I am a 32 yr old married female. I am also a childhood sexual abuse survivor. I completed several years of individual therapy and almost 2 yrs of couples therapy to address the abuse. I've overcame a lot emotionally. My relationship with my husband is great, however, our sex life is not where we would like it to be.

Due to the abuse, sex is beyond painful and awkward. We gave up on trying intercourse. My husband is so understanding and doesn't want to continue as he sees the pain it causes me.

So, I figured I need to do something about this. I went to my gynecologist and she recommended pelvic floor physical therapy. I have an appointment this week with a Physical Therapist who specializes in pelvic pain. I did some research but couldn't really find much info on women's personal experiences with PT for pelvic pain. Does anyone have experience with this?

I know this is a personal topic, but I wanted to see if any AN members had some experience.

Thank you for reading this. I apologize for the length.
