You are reading page 12 of Oh, the weather outside's getting frightful...... If you want to start from the beginning Go to First Page.

Nothing like experience to educate. Here, it's freezing cold, pipes are breaking, and the sidewalks are icy. I wish it was Spring already.

You can say that again!

Our temps actually came way up yesterday and even at 38 degrees, it felt warm! It rained on and off most of the day, turning the snow to slush and making the roads easily passable even at night.

So my sister was just now in the kitchen, talking about how it didn't look like we'd get anymore snow today........no sooner were the words out of her mouth than it started to snow. Big, fat, softly falling flakes that accumulate really fast when it keeps up for more than an hour or two. It's still above freezing, but predictions are for as much as 3-5 inches by tomorrow morning due to another shot of Arctic air. Oh goodie.........at least, my bag's still packed in case I've got to stay overnight at the NH.

Oh well, it's never boring!

Well they said that the snow would decrease in the afternoon but it is almost 1pm and it it snowing as hard as it was at 6am this morning. My boss gave me the option to not come in tomorrow. I wasn't on the schedule and I was just going to go in to catch up....thousands of emails behind etc..... but I probably won't go in...

I have a front wheel drive car and I can get around fairly well and I am not worried about my driving it is the people around me. If I don't have to go out in this stuff believe me I am not going out. I am going to take some pictures of the snow and then I am going to shovel off a place for my dogs to go outside to do thier thing....it is getting soooo deep out there they are having a hard time getting around.

Well I am going to put on my favorite christmas music as the TV shows are all repeats and I am going to get something accomplished. See you all later....

Well, we got clobbered tonight---several inches of new snow, plus another fun trip home through a freakin' blizzard where I lost the road several times due to poor visibility and snow obliterating the lanes. I made it home OK this time, only to get bogged down in snow at the bottom of our steep driveway, and I couldn't straighten out. So my car is parked almost kitty-corner to the garage, the snow is NOT letting up, and I've still got to get one more shift in (tomorrow) before I can call it a week.

I'm re-learning NOT to trust weather reports. When they make a big deal out of a possible snowstorm, it turns out to be nothing; conversely, when they don't think it's a major issue, several storms will roar in like gangbusters and dump all over us.

Good times.........

I'll admit, I'm getting sick of this cold snap. It's lasting forever. I am starting to get chilled to the bone, partially because I'm fighting off a virus, but this is just hanging on forever! I'm looking forward to our normal balmy winter weather in the 20s and 30s...

It is snowing 1-2 inches a hour right now. We will have about 10 inches when it is all done. YUCK! We have had a few 10 car pile ups on the freeway all ready. At least we arent' getting the freezing rain and ice like they are to the south of me.

We got another 4 inches last night - but on the way home from our shopping trip, in the windy canyon, we came upon a head-on collision between two pickups, where one pickup was off the road and sliding down the cliff. It stopped fortunately and the occupants were able to climb out and were ok. The couple in the other pick up were ok too and got into our car to warm up from being bombarded with wet, wet snow. We waited for the CHP (CalTrans got there first and we knew the driver and so did the young woman - small world). We drove them back to the big city while their pickup was being pulled out of the mess. Dropped them off at Chucky Cheese for a birthday party for the woman's 8 year old brother.

Then headed back up the mountain. It took us about 4 hours all told to get home.

So glad no one was hurt in the accident - the pickups are totaled.
