Good morning!

Monday showed up quickly!  I hate when that happens.  Off to work in a bit.

Hope all are well.

Morning BC

Quiet day for me yesterday.  Usual choir and church.  Got the CEUs done and the vacuuming and exercise

Back to work today, hoping it wont' be too crazy

Temperatures are going to be fairly ordinary this week, although snow expected a couple times, and possibly some freezing rain tonight

Good morning.

Sorry BC, but Monday morning couldn't come fast enough for me!

Yes, on night number three, we are short a nurse, so all of our assignments changed.

Last night, I only had one patient, from my two previous shifts. Everyone else was new to me. Same for my co-workers.

So aggravating. Seven new people!

I got out of there at 0800.

It is raining. It will rain tomorrow too.

All this rain is enough to make you weep. We are all so damn sick of rain.

Time for much needed sleep.

Hope all have a good day.

Good groggy morning.  Only a few sips of coffee in. . .

Back on call and back to work today as manager.  My boss won't be home until Thursday.  As mentioned, she keeps saying she is grooming me for taking her place but I keep saying no, no, and no.  Heck, she's my age so we'll probably retire together.

No snow yesterday or overnight.  Supposedly more coming.

Hope everyone has a good Monday and that Tweety is sleeping in!

Good morning!

Yes, Steph. stayed up late and slept in to past 0930.  My boss has long given up on my moving past being a Charge Nurse.  The nurse she was grooming is transferring to the OR.  Have you ever heard of keto people using butter in their coffee?

Nel, that does sound aggravating.  I too enjoy Monday's and it's my "weekend".  I always get complemented on my vegan meals for lunch..."smells so good, looks good and healthy".  Rarely get negativity.   I have to bite my tongue when I notice coworkers that never eat anything other than meat and bread, never a vegetable or piece of fruit ever.

BC, not even sure we made it to 80 yesterday.  Odd it's so warm there in February.

J22, seems like it's your turn to be cold.

I enjoyed the vids and talk.  🙂

Work was long and tiring.  Got a last minute admission that threw me behind.  I'm happy it's over and will be happier come payday.  This is a light week as I had already scheduled my New Years Eve Holiday on Thursday, so I don't go back until Friday!!

Saw that my Income Tax Refund is deposited.  Glad the shutdown didn't slow it down.  I filed electronically and the government accepted it on the 2nd of February and in little over a week it's in my account.  I love technology.  It's noticeably smaller than years gone by.

G'morning,

Our 1-3" of predicted snow last night turned into 8", with wind, so it drifted a bit. There was a 2 foot drift on the back deck. I waded through it to retrieve the hummingbird feeder to thaw it out. When I re-hung it, the little dude was zooming around my head. I think I have officially turned into crazy bird lady. dh and youngest ds had to leave for work before me, so they dug out the driveway. The drive in wasn't bad. 3 people called out, a couple were late. 8 more inches predicted tomorrow.

Glad to read that Tweety and Nel have survived their arduous stretches. I work 5 days this week, 3 next week, visit the Flower and Garden show in Seattle, and then fly to Arizona to watch Spring Training baseball and soak up some sun and warmth. I am sooooo ready!

Take care all,

j22

That refund was super fast, Tweety. Didn't you just file last week? Mine usually take 10 to 14 days.

Yeah, I never said, or say anything about what co-workers ate, or eat. I think my payout comes in not being overweight and actually having energy and strength to do physical things.

Hope you enjoy your days off.

Unfortunately, I will not have finished with The Hate U Give, before book club tomorrow.

I've read about five chapters. I think it is because I downloaded it onto my phone, for easy portability. I don't like reading a book on my phone.

We are looking at potential flooding with all the latest rain.

Water pooling in areas, during my drive home this morning.

Will drink coffee and drag myself to the barn.

Nel, I am so sorry to hear that you are getting yet still even MORE rain! It ain't right!

Tweety, I have heard of keto dieters and others adding butter to their coffee. At one time it was said to help you lose weight, though I can't see how it would. I tried it but didn't like or dislike it; waste of perfectly good butter, if you ask me!

Joe, What kind of exercises do you do? You are so routine about getting it done, it shames me. I'm good for about 3 days and then I either end up hurting myself by pushing too far, or completely losing interest. *sigh*

I have a fairly good idea where the papers needed to do our taxes can be found, but have yet to gather them and seek out some (free senior citizen) assistance to send it in. Last year the person who did our taxes said we probably wouldn't have to pay anything this year, and that MAY be so, but I did work a couple of months at the beginning of 2018, and we also sold our house (for a pittance), so I'm not sure how that might have affected us. Guess we'll have to wait and see, won't we? But, not wait too much longer!

Steph, for years folks tried to talk me into going back to school to get my RN, and I said the same as you: NO, no, and NO WAY!  The kind of responsibility that an RN has, and in your case a manager, has only grown more and more since then. I always said I'd rather be the grunt. If I was still working I'd say the same. My 'motto' was: "Give me my assignment, give me my paycheck, and leave me alone, and I'll be the best employee you've ever had." People always laughed when I said that, but I was SERIOUS!

j22, You have hummingbirds in the winter when it's snowing????? Whaddya know! I was surprised to see bluebirds here this winter, but am told they are always here in the winter. Never have seen them during winters where-ever else I've lived.

herring, Hubby is surprised to hear I don't need a chauffeur to go to my 1st post-op follow-up appt on Thursday, because I think they will release me to be able to drive now. He says his retirement has been "Driving Ms. Daisies" (his mom and I), and although I believe I am much nicer than Ms. Daisy, he's right. Nearly every week it's been like that, poor guy!

Another cool, gray day. Yippee. We also are supposed to get rain the next two days.

Got a whole chicken cut up, and was going to cook it in the oven, only to find that Nannie's got NO pans in which to do so. Didn't want to get aluminum foil ones as they aren't too great when you want to make gravy in the pan after the chicken's through baking. So, anyway, I just 'skint it' and put it in the crock-pot, and will use it (sans bone, skin/fat) in a casserole, I guess. Or soup. Whatever.

Nannie was trying to tell me that my step-dgt's aunt (on her mom's side) died. First she said it was my niece, then my step-dgt., then her kid, and etc, etc. It took her 5 minutes to arrive at the right person, but had to ask hubby her name a few times. Then just as she started to fill me in with all the nasty, disgusting stories about that family.... I said, "Nannie, I've been married to your son for 29 years and I know ALL about that family, and I don't care to discuss them." Don't know if she is p.o'd at me for that or not, but she's been awfully quiet since then. The thing about Nannie is she hardly ever has anything nice to say about anyone and she practically smacks her lips at the chance to tell everything and all things bad, supposedly shocking, morally corrupt, and/or sinful. She really disgusts ME when she gets going. So often I want to say, "WHO CARES!!!!"

The dogs have 'et' and are sleeping on the sofa like apostrophe marks, covered with a light lap-robe (not that they have laps, mind you). Nannie has her nose in a newspaper puzzle. Hubby is puttering about in the kitchen, and I'm just sitting here looking like this: 😌 because I am enjoying the peace and quiet.

All of y'all behave, now. (Don't ya hate it when someone tells you that? I DO!)

The sad part is, Stars, they will never just leave you alone to do your job and collect your paycheck.

The Powers That Be, are always tweaking things in such a way, to ensure you can NEVER just DO your job.

Oh, how I wish!!!!

Once a group of nurses went to an appointment in the office of the hospital CEO. He had a book on his desk called "If it Ain't Broke, Break It."

https://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0-446-51539-9

He instituted lots of silly time wasting things for us to do. Like walking rounds so a critically sedated patient could participate in his care, or require the night shift do the baths and the audits, after all they aren't bothered by having PT, RT, and other departments open. So nurses can do it all at night with less distractio because we have less staff then.( I can be sarcastic too).

Yes Tweety - Keto folks use butter in their coffee.

My kids in Washington had 15 inches of snow so far about 2 hours ago and it was still snowing hard.  They sent me a video.

Another storm headed our way but we shall see.  3/4 of the snow here is gone either via snowplow or shovel.

I'm tired.  Headed to bed early.

Flower and Garden Show in Seattle . . .sounds fun.   If this weather would ease up, I'd drive up to see my kids and grandkids.

Wishing y'all a good night's sleep.
