Well people, I am so angry, I could literally spit fire.

I was assessing a patient for the LPN, when the patient requested to use the bedside commode.

She is a two-person assist due to previous stroke.

The sleeping tech had her, so I requested her help.

The patient apparently has issues with the sleeping tech, and said things like: "I am trying, Mary Jane."

Sleeping tech got angry, pulled off her gloves, threw them away, and walked out of the patient's room, leaving me holding her on her side, as we were pulling up her pants.

I was astounded by the childish, unprofessional behavior.

The patient said to me: "She isn't right. There's something wrong with her."

Needless to say, I sent an email to the NM.

Sleeping tech has been fired from TWO patients rooms tonight.

In my email, I also mentioned the sleeping during the shift.

She needs to be fired from the facility.

Lots of our nurses are leaving for the VA.

Maybe something to think about.

Good Morning!

Nel, that tech sounds dreadful.  Hopefully management will listen to you and talk to the patients as well.  Congrats on hanging in there a year.   Enjoy your stretch of days off.

I had a decent day off yesterday.  Went for a nice jog-walk and then to yoga.  The beaches were busy again with it being a weekend and nice weather.

We had a really wicked thunderstorm roll threw around 5:30 AM and wake me up, so I just got up.  It passed quickly but now I'm awake.  Gonna clean the bathrooms and go to the grocery store when it opens and probably sometime this morning go back to bed and finish sleeping.  I was up to past midnight.

I think this storm was part of a cold front moving through and we'll get some

I figured out when you the laugh out loud as the letters, or make a smiley emoji,  it changes the font of the whole paragraph like above and when you edit is disappears into a box with a question mark.  I can't remember the paragraph I wrote, but I think it was about the weather.  😂

Morning-

Our predicted 6 to 10 inches of snow has turned into 18 inches, and it's still snowing.  As of right now, my office is opening at noon.  I think we should all stay home and try again tomorrow.

Nel-What a dreadful night!  That tech should be fired.  Maybe it is time to look elsewhere, especially if management does not take action on your email.

Tweety-i love thunderstorms, but not when they wake me up.  Enjoy your day off.

I'd better get out there and shovel.

Nell I'm glad you've alerted management, this person shouldn't be working there

Morning Tweety and BC

Fairly normal Sunday for me, choir and church and brunch with J.  Afterwards we saw Isn't It Romantic, which was pretty good although not as funny as I expected

Relaxed all week which was good given the recent job stresses

Back to work today, hopefuly not too busy a day

Have to do more work this week on the job search.  Want to do steady work every week on it, since I have no idea how long a search will take

Very cold this morning but in a few days it will get warmer and more spring like for at least a week

Good Monday to you! Clearly that tech should not be doing that job.

I've got a lot to do today.  Just errands.

Monday again; I think if I blink it will be Friday again. Time just swooshes by -----

Gads, Nel, that aide should be canned; I can't believe she gets away with all her crap and doesn't get reprimanded at LEAST! Why do folks who hate taking care of people who need help, go into nursing care? My first job as an NA, before I went to nursing school, was in a nursing home, where I worked every so often with a woman who got soooo p.o.'d at certain patients, it was just plain stupid. She'd get mad when a woman rang her bell for the bedpan, so she could go to sleep with an empty bladder. What's the problem with that? Anyway, I would ask the charge nurse to assign me to the opposite hallway from the one that aide was on. She really had it in for everyone; so WHY was she there? She told me it was because she HAD TO work. So go bag groceries or something. Anyone who had their druthers would not be in a nursing home begging a crabby aide to assist her with ANYTHING!

Tweety, We've had no thunderstorms, just lots and lots of rain until this morning. The sun is trying to shine, but it isn't warming up the atmosphere. It will be COLD (for here) for the next couple of days, with maybe a little sun. No beach weather here! No beaches, either!

BCg, I like thunderstorms, too. Once I house and dog-sat for some folks who lived way up on a mountain top, and the disappointing thing was, they had a lovely Greater Swiss Mtn. dog ... who BARKED at EVERY thunder roll and lightening flash, throughout the entire storm. Made it quite difficult to enjoy the storm because of his noise. He wasn't scared of it, he was telling it off, trying to scare it away.

Joe, "Isn't It Romantic" sounds like a 1940's black and white musical. Is it a new movie? A remake?

I slept until 12:15 PM!!!! Hubby came in and said, "Are you going to sleep all day?" I  have finished my coffee and the newspaper and it is already mid-afternoon. I stayed up late/early to finish reading a  mystery (Faye Kellerman) book. Now I hope to drive over to the library to do a drop off of two books and pick up 2 more.

Nannie, tottering on her way to the bathroom: "I hate having to get up out of this chair (deep recliner, too big for her) to go to the bathroom; I always feel like I'm going to fall." Um, that's why you have a walker. "Oooh, I don't have TIME to use the walker!"  Okay, then; that leaves plenty of time to fall. [One of these days, Alice.....TO THE MOON!]

Hubby is getting ready to put down fertilizer and grass seed in the yard. We don't have an aerator and he didn't want to call around to see if there was one to rent. Hope the grass seed doesn't get all et up by the birdies!

I don't know what I'll be doing for the rest of what remains of the afternoon. Maybe laundry. YOWIE ZOWIE!

The LPN who had the patient I mentioned, said the tech later apologized to the patient, and asked if the patient accepted her apology.

Of course, that is an awful position to place the patient in.

She said the patient was so upset over the behavior, she later vomited.

The LPN also sent an email to NM.

Sleeping tech never uttered a word to me for the 11 hours remaining in the shift.

I didn't speak to her about the incident because I would have reamed her lazy behind. It was best for me not to speak to her, and give the problem to the NM.

But she knew I was PISSED.

Went out to breakfast this morning with the LPN and another tech.

Celebrated LPN, finishing practicum, on way to RN.

Ate the Elvis; three buttermilk pancakes, filled with bananas, peanut butter chips and chocolate chips.

Drank a White Russian, at 0800. It was good!

Up now, getting ready for barn and Biggie chores.

It is sunny and frigid here.

It is in the teens.

Hard to believe it is March.

Hope you got to stay home, BC.

Enjoy the day, all.

So I did get a nice little nap in.  Only slept about five hours last night so I needed it.  Then went to the gym.   I'm making some hot sauce out of dried Thai chilis that I've had a long time and need to use up.

Gossip.  My boss called to ask me to work tomorrow 11-7 and take post op patients like I did last week.  Good news is that they are still offering the bonus if there is a critical need.  The need is a coworker quit today rather than float.  She was to float to the the "overflow" unit where there is a mishmash of ER patients that have been discharged from the ER but have no room on the floor they are assigned to.  She said she wasn't qualified.  She was told she was assigned 3 med surg patients.  THREE!!  I would have said "bye Felecia" to my floor and ran.  But she still quit.  Another nurse said she would go in her place but the boss, and I support this said, it wasn't her turn and the other nurse should float.   Anyway a friend of hers that works with us that still has her old job part time quit in support of her friend.  So it makes a bad situation worse.

I won't miss her.  She was toxic and volatile.  When the two of them worked together they were double toxic although the friend wasn't as bad.

Hopefully the stretch of days coming up won't make me want to quit either.

Yes, that's the one.  Really, I don't see her problem.   We are med-surg and we are required to float to med-surg.  Med surg ain't no joke, but three patients, come on.   We did have a no-float policy but that ended a while back, i think before she was hired last year.   We just can't stomp our feet and not go.  We all know this.
