Morning

Quieter day yesterday.  Church by Zoom and cooking.  Did some cleaning and some needlepoint. Thinking about going back to embroidery, think I like it better than needlepoint.  Rode my bike for a pretty long time too, as the weather was nice

After work I have my first haircut in more than 3 months

Weather will be cool today but things will get warmer as we move through the week

Have a three day weekend coming up

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a good day.

Amo, I too cook solo and thus can't make things like brownies and stuff because I'll eat it all.  I recently lost 20 lbs. and got my borderline BP to normal ranges now, and need to maintain it.  Florida is indeed a hotspot, we've had 2,000 positive cases a day for several days.  If there is any good news it's hospitalizations for now aren't rising.  We've had only six Covid patients this past week and haven't gotten more.  It's a weird situation with so many cases rising, but people seem unconcerned and going about business as usual.  Theme parks are opening back up.  I had a friend go to Bush Gardens this past weekend and said he felt safe.  But I heard Universal was crowded in Orlando.  Strange times.

I make my shashuka vegan, using chickpeas and once polenta rounds.  It's a favorite.  BC makes it too probably the traditional way with eggs, and I bet that's good.

Yesterday was the first good day I've had in a long time.  4:1 ratio and we had a tech.  Can't complain about that.  We have some agency nurses starting today to fill the holes of the critical care nurses that tested positive for Covid. This was planned prior to the bad publicity we got from the nurse that refused her assignment and went to the news with it.  I think though the fallout from her is going to be they will pay attention to ratios.  They must stop tripling up assignments in critical care.  It's not safe.  I've heard from friends in other hospitals this is not unique to my facility.

At the end of the day, me being who I am, am in the middle.  I understand that it's not the facilities fault they lost 10 critical care nurses to Covid suddenly.  Prior to this staffing was good and critical nurses weren't getting their hours, and they did hire the agency nurses prior to the bad publicity.  Just bad luck.  Almost all organizations here now have Covid positive staff.  Plus there's the staff that come in sick.

Life goes on.

I'm working today to help with post op patients and getting a bonus.  Going to safe some money for car insurance due in August.

Have a great day.

I hurt a LOT! Hurts (sharp/hot) in right hipbones with weight bearing and also inside my RUOQ abdomen. Took stool softener yesterday as 3 days on hydrocodone stopped me up; and this pain, if it is like last time, may be messing with my ability to pee. (pinched nerve?) I don't know if the fluoroscopic injection will help, but it had better! Hubby got a church-lady to come and sit with Nannie, so we don't have to drag her along. I'm mizzable, talk with you guys later.....

Tweety and amoLucia, I have noticed in the grocery store, in the cake mix aisle, individual servings of cakes and sweet things for sale.  Make 'em in the microwave in a coffee mug.  Just a thought. 😄

Restless sleep last night, which was predictable because of things that need to get done today so we can load the little RV up and go camping!

No Stars, hope you get some relief!!

Joe, what project are you working on now?  And how is J?  I know it's been rough getting together during Covid isolation times...

Y'all have a good day!

Prayers for No Stars to get the help she needs.

Yesterday I got a take out Sunday smothered chicken dinner at a reataurant for my husband. There are enough leftovers for at least two more meals. Rice and gravy. okra, greens, and chocolate cake. I had a delicious Healthy Choice "Chicken and Vegetable Stir fry with sesame and ginger"

Stopped at a red light coming home there were about 15 protesters. It looked like parents, young kids, and teens. I honked and gave a "thumbs up". A kid knocked on the passenger window, I rolled it down and he said, "Maam, you should do it this way" as he pumped his fist in the ait. I did and he cheered through his mask. Then I came home. That was my excitement for the day.

Was doing needlepoint, think I'll go back to the embroidery project I had started but not completed

J had another dental implant and has had quite a bit of pain post procedure, but otherwise the same.  Have not yet decided when or where we'll see each other

So irritated right now. We are having an outbreak in our county and have initiated quarantine and isolation for more that 100 people, and they don't seem to think they should stay home because their symptoms are mild. Many live in the town where dh has his office. He is wearing a mask, social distancing, and hand washing, but with his DM I worry. Many of the people in that town think this is just a flu. It's all fun and games until  someone they know gets really sick. And our staff is trying to call everyone every day, and the numbers keep growing. Stupid, selfish so and so's.

Well, its raining, again and that is supposed to continue through the weekend. I moved my hanging baskets into the greenhouse because they are pale and water-logged.

I would try shashuka but I don't think it would fly with dh. He is a meat and potatoes for dinner kind of guy.

Stars, I hope relief is on the way soon!

Happy travels, Dianah!

Herring, good to see your legacy of activism carries on!

Afternoon all. Weather is just glorious here mid-NJ.

NoStars - praying for you & Hubs. Sorry that placement for Nan is held up for C19. Such a difficulty at this time for you. How is Hubs doing?

herring - I love some Lean Cuisine meals. Just wish my favs had larger portions; not really doubled, but maybe 1 & 1/2 quantity.

dianah - thanks. I've seen those single cakes. Nice, but nice & EXPENSIVE.

Tweety - I have a quickie easy home recipe for single cake servings.

Combine 1 box any flavor cake mix and 1 box Angel Food cake mix (the kind you only mix with water). The dehydr egg white ingredient provides 'lift' for the cooked cake batter. In a big microwave mug, use 1/4 c mixed mix, add 3 tbsp water & stir well. Nuke it on high for 65 secs.  Voila! Done!

Let it cool if you can wait that long. Top it with whatever. I have a bottle of caramel syrup. Just don't try to add more cake mix trying to make 'more cake'. Doesn't work right.  It's not a whole lot, but it does just appease the sweet craving. I prefer Spice cake mix to mix with the Angel Food. A big baggie with the mix looks like a mighty suspicious bag of 'dust' on the countertop.  🤣

I do have to say those choc brownies are muy bueno. Want to make another batch but this time to use up the stewed prunes & apricots as I over-made a batch. Love using my crockpots. Just dump & let it cook. Worst part is storing any extras and then clean-up. Thinking of making a crab spaghetti sauce. My Mom made it during the summer time - plan to experiment with my CP again.  And want to experiment with anise seed. I've fallen in love with rosemary

Threw some laundry in. I can manage the 'in washer' OK; the 'washer to dryer' semi-OK; but to empty the dryer & carry items to my BR is difficult. I have a housekeeper HHA companion to help with domestic tasks, so I manage.

j22 - how's the arm? And I do understand your exasperation with dummy deny-ers. I would never wish any negatives to befall them, but you're right. Unless C19 hits them, and hits them H A R D, will they THEN truly understand. It's just like what Tweety is seeing in his communities. Don't you just want to SMACK them?!?!

I fear this relaxation of precautions as still too early. And that's with mixed emotions as I read of y'all being frustrated with the restrictions in your lives. It is affecting us all, but all in different ways. Sigh ....

Later ...

Hubby got the church lady to come and sit with Nannie. My appointment went well, and QUICKLY! Kinda sore at the injection sites, you know how injected fluids make that area feel "full" or heavy. But the sensation of broken and ground up glass slicing little nicks inside while moving about...gone! I'm not sure if he granted my request for extra Lidocaine in today's injections.

I feel fairly well exhausted, so I am going to rest now. Kaw=pew, kaw-pew, kaw-pew.

Best to you all!

Husband has been on the phone calling friends because two of them have T-Mobile and their phones re out. All the old guys, including my husband thought something was wrong with theirs. I heard it on the news so now they are galling each other again.
