Morning

Yesterday was a fairly productive day.  Was able to get cooking done before church via Zoom.  Baked some cookies and did some needlepoint.  Was going to ride my bike but the bike shop wasn't done with it yet so I went on a long walk instead

This week should be calmer at work, assuming no unexpected changes or meetings

Going to be quiet hot today, fairly hot tomorrow too with heavy rain expected.  After that it should be considerably cooler

Good morning!

Have a calm day at work Joe.

It's warm and muggy already here.  Just went to Walmart and Publix and started to sweat with little activity.  I broke my electric pressure cooker by dropping it yesterday and got a new one today.  I use it often.  I got the "InstantPot" that is all the rage because that's all they had.  Found some Dawn Dishwashing Liquid as that for some reason is hard to come by the stores here.  Still on the lookout for Lysol spray which I use in my car on the seatbelt and seats, on my work shoes, as well as my masks for personal use.

Getting my car serviced today for it's six month oil change and check up.  Time is really just flying by.

Goo Dafter-noon!

Hazy, hot 'n' hoomid. High clouds, but not supposed to rain until tomorrow. Wasn't supposed to rain yesterday, but it did in the late afternoon. Ma Nature has a mind of her own, I guess.

Got up an hour ago and am still groggy-ish. Probably will have to go to Walmart after a while.

Hope everyone's day is tolerable.

Tweety: I shopped at a Publix years ago when NTI was in Orlando. We California nurses had a woman taxi driver from Haiti. She picked up and dropped off nurses all day. We enjoyed her. We met her daughter.

Husband enjoyed the warm weather sitting by the hotel pool while we nurses attended CE classes and other convention activities.

I got salmon at the store yesterday. I'll eat some too.

Afternoon strangers- long time no chat! I had a fairly productive weekend discovering the joy of an air fryer. Best. Freaking. Pork. Chops. Ever!

During the week I’m exhausted. My team of three is now a team of me. One position eliminated and one out on leave. Weekends are my me time. Most of them I don’t even make it out of the house and I’m ok with that- not like there’s anything to do anyway since everything is still closed.

Took the pup for a short walk yesterday and she was able to do the whole thing without a syncopal episode! Her heart is in bad shape- turns out she isn’t having seizures but extreme hypoxic episodes. Medical management for now and it turns out her breed/size is prone to cardiac issues. Have had to leave out puppy pads when I’m not home because Lasix is a necessary nuisance. But she’s cute enough to make up for all of that.

Rose, what breed of Buppy-Pog you got? I have forgotten. And what brand of air-fryer did you get? If you don't want to plug a brand here, pop me a private message, please. I have such fried chicken cravings all the time; this could be a dangerous purchase for me!! Anyway, good to see you back, Rose!

herring, I looked at the salmon at the store today, but didn't get it because I'm the only one here who'd eat it. Mebbe next week I'll make salmon patties and pig out!! I make good'ns. Hubby doesn't care for onions, but chopped onions can NOT be left out of the recipe! Oh well, for him!

tweety, what's your take on the Instant Pot? That and an air-fryer have been on my list for quite some time now, but I hear different opinions and reviews...

She's a rat terror... er... terrier. Although she usually "hunts" her foster mama, my older female meow meow. She's also well trained that when my phone alarm goes off, it's cheese time (her pills get hidden in cheese because she figured out the pill pockets with the first dose)

I went for the Pampered Chef one. Bloody expensive (channeling my old British roots there), but since it does so much more than just air fry I figured I'd try it. I love it! I can bake frozen pizza in 8 minutes rather than the 24 required in the oven. And the pork chops I made last night... to die for! Would not get that in an oven.

Between my pressure cooker and my air fryer, I haven't used my stove/oven in several months. I love the pressure cooker being so much quicker, and there's Pinterest/Facebook/websites out there to help with converting slow cooker recipes and other recipes to use a pressure cooker.

Hello all!

I am enjoying this Insta-Pot and air-fryer exploration, keep it up!  Thanks for any info you can add (needless to say, I have neither at this point but am not adverse to being enlightened!).

Rose, so sorry you are holding down the fort right now!  How long does it take to recruit, sift through, interview, and then glom onto a new employee?

My office mate is off this week, so I am Case Manager/Stress Lab RN.  Plus today I was IV Start and IV Definity QUEEN!!!  I worked through lunch just starting IVs and giving Definity, from one echo room to the next... besides all the IVs I started in the morning and a few in the afternoon.  Got a little case management done in-between the stress tests, too.  Got lunch at 3pm, until I got interrupted to go start an IV!!

It's nice to be home.

Have a nice evening!

Forgot to remind you: we will be camping 6/15 - 6/26.  I will not have phone service, though dh will and he promised to hook up his phone as a "hot spot" for me.  I may bring the little computer (will certainly take my Kindle too) and I can check in sporadically.  🙂  Will miss the GM thread and all your smiling faces!

We will have the instruments with us though we have no organized music planned.  Friends will be joining us for a few days starting 6/21, and she plays guitar and sings so that will be fun!

It will be nice, as I think I have posted, to be up in the mountains, smelling the pine trees and hearing the birds.  I plan on bringing lots of walnuts for the squirrels.  Hope the bears and mosquitoes stay away!

Since the position won't be replaced, none at all! The medical leave fortunately won't be the full 12 weeks allowed by FMLA, but it's 2 months running the ship solo. Thankfully we aren't at the crazy numbers of orientees right now (we at one time had 50+ for several weeks; currently we're running in the low 20s). And with COVID not allowing us to have meetings, I don't have to worry about planning huge education sessions.

Hi Rose.  I forget what is it that you do?

I haven't used my pressure yet but mainly use it to cook dried beans and love that I don't have to soak overnight.   Including chickpeas for homemade hummus.   I switched a few months ago to dried versus canned to save money and to avoid salt since completely salt-free beans are hard to find.   I'd rather control the seasonings myself.  I've also used it to make soups and stews but mostly beans.  It's annoying that I broke a perfectly good pressure cooker that I've had several years.  The $99 I spent on a new one certainly overrides any savings on beans.  Ha ha!

I use my air fryer often as well, mainly to roast veggies like roasted red bell peppers, beets and carrots.  I use it quite often to make sweet potato fries and regular fries (which I spice up and use my homemade salt-free sugar free ketchup).

I love being a home cook and you have to have some gadgets!
