Stars will be hot and humid for the next few days here too

NJ22 glad smoke isn't an issue there

BC sounds like a nice day

Hi Amo

Fairly quiet day yesterday.  Church and coffee hour tomorrow.  Exercised and worked on embroidery.  No cooking to do, except to let the crock pot cool and put away the stew.  Was fairly hot so mostly stayed inside.  Think I slept better last night, only got up once and seem to have fallen right back to sleep

Getting some more books via interlibrary loan, including some books on state folkore, something I haven't really looked into before

Today is supposed to be the worst day of a bad week at work.  I'm assuming there will be no breaks today and that I'll work late, hoping that won't prove true.  Hoping the rest of the week won't prove nearly as bad

Will be hot and humid for the next few days, though should be better later in the week

Joe, state folklore sounds interesting!  And, stew sounds good!

Hello to all!

I jammed with dh both Sat and Sun, it went well.  Got to keep my callouses in shape, in preparation for the August festival!  I hope Covid will not side-track the festival to a HOLD pattern, rather than a GO pattern.  Time will tell.

Had supper with oldest ds and his gf, was a very nice time.  We ate outside on a small patio, at Luna Grill -- mediterranean food.  Not bad for a chain!  At one point towards the end of the evening, ds and his gf saw a little mouse climb down the brick wall, from some overhanging ivy --- behind me!  Then he scampered back up.  As we had been talking about Disneyland, we assumed it was some relative of Mickey's.  😉

We left at 9, when it started sprinkling.  This morning, dh says he heard more rain come through during the night.  We sure can use it!  Hope it headed up north to the fires, too.

Have a good day!

Good morning!

Joe, it's nice not to have to do cooking every day.  Hope work doesn't prove to be too crazy.

Dianah, sounds like a good weekend.  Mice are very resilient aren't they?  Hope you can go to the festival.  If it were Florida there would be no questions about it, it would happen.

Got a letter from the CEO saying hospitalizations have doubled and covid has taken out several unvaccinated employees and pleaded with the unvaccinated to get the vaccine.  I was talking to an unvaccinated new nurse and her sister (one of our nurse managers) was real sick with covid last year but she was on the fence because she saw some bad reactions in her clinicals in neuro to the vaccine.  I told her right now there are over 1 billion vaccinated people and sure some had reactions but you had to look at the bigger picture.  She said she was going to get it but I think the current surge is going to throw her over the edge and she will get it.  She said she doesn't trust places like CVS or Walmart and wants to get it at a hospital.  Makes no sense at all.  I'm really disappointed in the mindset of some people.

I can't say anything good about my work weekend.  Today I'm going to computer training.  Today is a four hour day and tomorrow is an 8 hour day.  Only day off is Wednesday.

Have a great day.

Hullo. At work, with a pile of phone calls to make, and I'm just not feeling it. So I am sipping my coffee and checking in here. Dianah, that sounds like a nice evening with your family. I enjoy Mediterranean food, but I will pass on the mouse. For some reason, rodents just give me the creeps. Rain will be nice. We could use some. Still no smoke here, but the air seems quite hazy. Or perhaps that is just water vapor. I ran this morning and felt like I had dumped a bucket of water over my head. dh said the humidity was 88%.

Joe, stew sounds really good, for some reason. I hope your work day is not too heavy. I took an elective in folk tales during my BSN program, and we looked at a lot of local native stories. Lots of tales about eagles and and fish.

Tweety, I just can't wrap my head around health care professionals who are still not vaccinated. I predict we will go back to some sort of indoor mask mandate. I am going to start wearing one inside stores and restaurants.  Our local hospital admissions are starting to go up again.

I need to make a Costco run tonight to pick up fish oil and CoQ10, and look for some inspiration for dinner. And I will drop off blueberries to dd and pet food to MIL. I feel like a courier service some days.

Ta

Yes, I was talking with a friend that works for the VA and she's upset it's now mandatory.  I don't necessarily believe in mandates, but my thought is that it really shouldn't be mandated in the first place because nurses should be already at a high rate of vaccination.  Doctors have a 96% vaccination rate and nurses should have the same.  She said we can't compare doctors to nurses.  Um...okay.

One of my non-medical friends that previous said he "doesn't believe int he vaccine" put on Facebook that he was just discharged from the hospital with covid and regrets his decision and urges others to get vaccinated.  You think?

My aunt says she's not watching the Olympics because someone representing our country dared to take a knee.  While I might wish that this isn't the time or place I think with her it goes beyond that.

I just can't do people anymore.

Hello Joe, dianah, Tweety, and j22...

Hot'n'humid again, but THIS afternoon we were RIGHT IN THE RIGHT SPOT for one of those 'thunderstorms in spots'. It was directly overhead, with lots of lightning, and tremendously huge bangs and booms and sharp 'coughs' of thunder. The rain was fairly torrential....and I say 'fairly' torrential, because we didn't have roads turn into rivers like in Michigan, Texas, and Germany/Belgium. But the rain was THICK and pounding on the roof. w00t! Except Ozzie didn't like it one single bit. Hubby and I were just now sitting out on the porch to experience the slightly cooler temps and less humidity, and I mentioned that I thought the grass grew 1/2" during the storm!

Covid's up and roaming around again here, too. I haven't stopped wearing a mask when I go into a store. It's too bad that people have to learn by hard experience that they "should have" gotten the vaccine.

Double-header going on tonight w/ the Braves; they won the first game and we are only in the second inning of the second game. Nannie has already gone to bed!

😇 I got Nannie 3 pair of (size 3!!!) shoes at Walmart. I made the mistake of putting her white sneakers in the wash and the cheapo things came apart, so there was no wearing them anymore. When I saw 3 pair of size 3 shoes, I nabbed 'em. One white pair, one gray and pink pair, and one black pair. I said they were an early birthday present, because if I waited til her birthday, you can bet there'd be NO size 3 shoes in any store anywhere. So, pin a rose on my nose! 🌹👃

Have to go to a newspaper online to check the obits for my hubby....one of my wifely chores promised in our wedding vows, so says he! HA!

Wasn't Dr Jill Biden and the French President INSIDE some Olympic venue hall watching the activities??  I thought spectators were excluded. It just makes me think of unequal privilege & entitlement. That upsets me.

stars - am still finding outdated spices that I tossed. Like dated 2008 & 2014 for a couple.

The games are having a limited number of some domestic fans so spectators aren't necessarily excluded.   The Japanese had objections and wanted the games canceled and many are just tolerating the games.  I feel bad for them.

Some foreign press and delegations are also allowed to be spectators.

Obviously being the First Lady and President comes with privileges.  She's getting good reviews.
