Good morning.

Ted, when management said August would be handled just like July, I hope you said "Oh hell to the no it's not."

BC, did you just turn 60????  Say it isn't so.  Happy Birthday belated.

I got the front and back yard mowed and noticed that my tangerine tree is dead and collapsed into my fence.  I need to have it hauled out so termites don't take up residence.  I wonder if it was struck by lightening as we have a lot of storms this time of year.

I went to beach and had a nice short walk with best friend.  The red tide washed up a bunch of dead fish that best friend said wasn't there this morning and the stench was too much when we sat to watch the sunset and we left.  Lots of people out but this week is supposed to be bad.  Sad situation.

Have a good day.

Morning Tweety,  hope this week isn't too bad

Quieter day yesterday.  Had church, did some cleaning, exercised and worked on embroidery.  Was fairly warm so mostly stayed inside

Emailed the minister asking for some advice on spiritual direction.  Will be interesting to see his response, have not done something like this before

Hoping the work week will go smoothly.  If they next two days go well and I can work ahead like I did last week I won't have to work over the weekend.

Going to be fairly warm the rest of the week, into the 80s and up to 90.

Good Morning -

Tweety - Sad to read about your tangerine tree. Any thought about planting a new one?!? Also, sad to read about the Red Tide. Its effects can be devastating.

Joe - Hope you show your recent embroidery project once it's completed. You do very nice work! Hope your minister is able to help as you seek advice on spiritual direction.

Yesterday was another rainy, wet day. A co-worker shared photos of her property, with a stream on it, that shows the unfortunate effects of all of the rain that this area of the country is getting. The rainy weather has been near-relentless. Gratefully, the new pump in our basement is working as intended. Neurotically, I frequently check our basement for any signs of more flooding. So far, so good. Interestingly, the puppy doesn't mind the rain at all. She still does her "business", and still rumps around the wet grass. We're getting good at drying her off after being outdoors in the wet.

I'm working tonight in the ICU. Tomorrow, I'm working extra as Shift Director. I'm off Wednesday night. Thursday morning, I have mandatory Skills Day. It's when we have to demonstrate certain "skills" (without being prompted), like managing chest tubes, restraints, etc., etc. Most of these "skills" are ones that we rarely use (especially as compared to larger, higher-census, higher-acuity hospitals). We also review scenarios for ACLS, PALS, etc. It's all good.

Hope all have a pleasant day today. . .

Ted

Morning, all-

Yes, Tweety, I'm 60 today.  It feels strange.  I always thought people in their 60s were old.  I don't feel old.  I think 60 today is a lot different than 40 years ago.

It's still raining here.  It's getting very depressing.  I wish we could ship some of this rain out West.  We've had 13 inches of rain so far this month.  Enough already.

Tweety-Sorry about your tree.  The last thing you want is termites.  I hope the red tide situation clears soon.  We're having some of it up here, too.  Shellfish beds are closed.

Joe-I hope you're able to get some good guidance from your pastor.

Ted-Thank goodness Sedona doesn't mind going out in the rain.  Hope work goes well for you.

Hi to everyone else.  Have a good day!

Hello, Hiya, Howdy! I was going to post yesterday ... several times, but never did. Don't know why I didn't, but there ya go.

Happy B'day, BCg. I know what you mean about not feeling older. I will be ringing in my 72nd year in a few days (Thurs.22nd) and it seems so funny to me to say that. Back when I was a kid, 72 year old ladies had white hair in tight little perm-curls and wore girdles. HA! Glad that's not the image of MY generation, though there are still plenty of those types around. One radio DJ used to call them "Florida- Blue-Hairs".

Yes, Ted, I remember the days of popping a puppy on the nose and saying sternly: "NO BITES!" Eventually, after a while, they'd get the idea it was not acceptable behavior. I also put some toy in their mouth to bite instead of me. I have a drawing from my then 3 year old nephew ... it was of my dog Moosie, who came to me as a two-year old stray. He had a VERY gentle mouth and we had a 'game' where he would gently take my hand in his mouth and I'd say, "Don't bite ya mutha!" in a fake-gruff voice, and he'd wag and smile and spit my hand out. The drawing is titled, "Don't bite your mother". So cute.

Tweety and Ted, I hope your work-places will stop dragging their collective heels SOON, and straighten out and fly right! Nothing worse than seemingly endless work woes and the same-old-same-old, and 'promised' solutions that seem not to be happening.

It rained last night, we had weird thunderstorms...you'd see some sheet-lightning, hear a few rumbles and then it'd be quiet for a long  while, then repeat. But mostly it rained and it is STILL raining. I also wish we could send some of this rain out west, though we aren't getting the amounts that some of y'all are experiencing up North. I can't believe the rain and flooding Germany has gone through, it's just appalling and scary as all get out. What a world, what a world.

I think there is one more ball game with Tampa tonight. Nanny was worried last night that the game would be called on account of rain. Wish it had been, as we were one ahead ... and then the score was tied and when they finished off in the 9th inning and the rain; the Braves lost.

Okey-dokie, it is time to dry my hair. Post-shower, that is, as I haven't been outside frolicking in the rain like Sedona.

Game tonight is w/ San Diego, not Tampa. Not that it makes a heck of a lot of difference to ya, but I just wanted to keep things straight.

It is already time to try to decide what we want for (take-out) supper. I was going to go to get my nails done, but I guess I'll do that tomorrow.

I also have to go to the bank ... I got a weird letter saying that the signature loan I supposedly applied for in May 2020 was declined for this and that reason, and if I had any questions, to call such-and-such a number. Well. First of all I do not recall ever applying for a signature loan, secondly why did they feel they had to send me a letter 14 months later, saying they had not included "all" the reasons why I was turned down? So, I called the number in the official-looking letter, even though it was odd to me that it was an 800 number. The phone rang and rang, about 12-16 times and then instead of getting any answer from the bank, I heard "Thank you for using Verizon Wireless. The number you are trying to reach is not available at this time. Hang up and try again later." So WHY was it not answered by the bank??? Something seems fishy about this, so I decided I wasn't going to try again later; I'll go to the bank tomorrow and have a sit-down with someone officially a bank employee!

It's always sumpthin', ain't it?

Hi All. We would welcome all the rain ya'll would send this way, if only it worked that way. So far, knock on wood, no major fires on "our" side of the Cascades, but  time will tell. I am so sorry that you are having to endure so much. And I know that dreary days are depressing.

Happy Birthday, BC! I liked to think of 60 as just a number, but I definitely feel some of the agism that goes along with that number. Senior discounts are cool, though, lol.

Hi Dianah. Your story about the delivery of your son pulled at my heart strings.  My eldest was a big boy and was delivered by c-section, so I had different sort of incision to heal. And this year my big boy is 42!

Tweety, I love your message to management about schedules. And your poor tree! I think I remember you saying that rats steal your fruit, so may you won't replace it? And ugh, termites are no bueno! We apparently had a big mollusk die off (clams and mussels) at our beaches during the big heat. I suppose the shorebirds are gobbling them up. I plan to go out to the beach tomorrow to ride, so I am curious to see if there is any impact.

Joe it's always nice to know your days off are your own. Good plan to reach out to your minister. I hope he has something to offer.

Hi Amo!

Stars and Ted, I have adopted a couple of puppies and I say, never again! The yellow lab was so gentle and smart but behind your back she would chew and destroy anything she could get her mouth around. And with a spouse and a child who never put anything away, a lot of shoes were destroyed. And she destroyed my eyeglasses once. The other was a boston terrier and the potty training took so freaking long. Even after she was trained, she would not just go out in the yard unless I went with her. I miss them both, but so much work.

Today is meh. I ran some errands first thing, before it got hot: pet food purchase, drop off berries to dd, mailbox, primary ballot dropped off, good will donation dropped off, and a run through the coffee stand. I plan to make some blueberry muffins, just to use up what's leftover. And of course, there's always something to do in the garden.

Happy Monday, if that's possible

Likely a scam. Good to check with your bank, especially if the letter had your account number.

Nope, no Account Number in that letter, just a ? transaction number at the top/right of the letter.

San Diego/Atlanta game postponed d/t continuing rain storms. Tomorrow the game is scheduled for the same time, but we'll see if it gets played, as we are all in "the summer weather pattern". Wednesday they have a double-header -- weather permitting.

OMG, get this! Son-in-law has gone on Facebook and 'unfriended' both HIS WIFE, AND MY HUSBAND!!! Guess it's time for DiL to get a lawyer; she says they are already behind on their house payment. Dear God, PLEASE help her get the house payments so she doesn't have to come HERE to live!!!!!!  *groan*  It would be my worst nightmare! Sorry, that sounds terrible to say but Nannie is MORE than enough of an in-law that I can take living with!  If DiL was in residence, it would make us all CRAZY!

OMG I do hope that doesn't come to pass.  It's always something.

I might add it would her wise to never call those numbers, they can get a lot of information by you calling them and it seems they already do.  Call your bank directly.  Whenever I get a suspicious email to click on a link, or a phone call to call about an issue such as fraud I never call.  I call the source or check my statements online.

Go Rays!
