Morning

Fairly ordinary day yesterday.  Church, cooking, exercise.  Emailing with J, things are going well with his houseguests

Back to work today.  Going to be a rainy day apparently, but temps will be more reasonable this week and probably no additional rain expected

Surprised at how fast the summer is going by.

Morning Joe, and all who follow-

Randy Rainbow was so much fun last night.  He is so clever, and very entertaining.  We all had a great time.

Today is Day 1 of Staycation, and yes, you guessed it, we're going to the beach.  This time we're going to a place near Cape Cod that I haven't been to in years. I do love my Vitamin Sea and need to get a whole year's worth in 10 weeks.

Hope all have a good Monday.

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a good day.  Glad things are going well with J's houseguests.  Houseguests can be exhausting.  I haven't had any in over 10 years myself.

BC, enjoy the staycation and the beach.

Work was okay yesterday.  They put a nurse on call and pulled our tech to sit with a confused patient.  They decided to call in our nurse for another floor and when I said "she's my on call nurse, but if you call her in I can't take anymore admissions because you pulled my tech.".    The staffer called in a tech they had on call.  I wonder why they had a float tech on call when they could have sent me the tech at the beginning of the shift because my staffing pattern clearly allowed it.  Whatever.  I'm back in my "it's just a job and I like my paycheck and vacation time" mode, rather than "I need to quit".

I had a 96 year old patient with dementia and her granddaughter complimented me on how I talked to her grandmother so compassionately.  So there's that.  Little rewards.

Going to get busy with "clean the bathrooms" Monday and other things.

Have a great day!.

Good morning.

I was glued to the story about the shootings at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, here in California.  I have relatives there, two of the young men (my brother's sons) had just left the festival. and the mayor is a relative.  I appreciate many news outlets not publishing the name of the (dead) shooter as it is thought that this kind of publicity enourages other people.

That's all I got folks.  Have to get to work.

Hope  you all have a good day.

Decades ago we stayed a couple nights at the Gilroy KOA Kampground. It was right next to fields of garlic. We liked the smell. Our campsite had a prairie dog who looked us in the eye when popping up to eat grass.

Good morning Joe, Tweety, BCgradnurse, Steph, and whoever follows!

Morning Everyone,

@BCgradnurseI love watching Randy Rainbow's videos, he's hilarious.

Well, the heat has returned and it's going to be a scorcher the rest of the week. Ugh! Mother nature knows my thyroid won't allow me to tolerate all this humidity.

In other news, August 1st Bama will be a compact state. About time.

Sad that child was murdered in CA shooting and hope they catch the second shooter soon. These folks out here getting more crazy by the day. Such a shame.

Hello,

Thinking of California as well as Brooklyn, Chicago, and Florida today. I will call each of my kids today to tell them how much I love them.

I started work a little early today because to leave early for a dental cleaning. And now the cardiology office is calling, again, to reschedule a pacer check. I only work 2 1/2 days a week, and yet there are no times I can come in then. I had an appointment for tomorrow around lunch, but now they want to change that. I swear I have spent close to an hour (at work) trying to get this one stupid appointment scheduled. vent over.

Our weather continues to be mild, in the 70s today.  I wish I was at a beach as I am sure that I am Vitamin Sea deficient. I agree, the summer is zooming along too quickly. Tweety, that was pretty nice of your patient's granddaughter to remark on your compassion. What a goofball bit of scheduling! Reminds me of my cardiology office.

Have a wonderful day all!

Mellow Monday

Like my PT sessions; they are going slowly and cautiously with me so I won't get injured trying to build up my almost non-existent muscle strength in and around my hips. You know, it's nice to be listened to, and being given exercises I can do without fear of it being too much. I'm not being a wussie/wussey (?)...but I have lived in this body now for 70 years, so I know a little bit about how it reacts. I want to get stronger hips before it's too late!  I'll never be an Olympian, but maybe I can be physically stable for a few years before the Angels and my mother come calling for me. NO, no, no, NOT the Los Angeles Angels!  Gosh! As "Balki" used to say, "Don' be ree-dic-yu-luss!"

Nannie slept until about 1:45 PM. She went to bed early-ish, was up a few times, but not w/my help! Hubby had the baby monitor in his room and I didn't hafta deal w/ her. 😋 Oh, baby!

Hubby spoke with Nannie's lawyers' paralegal this morning, though I can't exactly say about what, cause he spoke w/ her early, before I was up. He said that we each have 100% power of medical attorney; hubby has 100% financial power of attorney, as well. Hubby still does not want to put her in a home of any kind, and will not sell off the house/property, because: "I'm not going to end up living in an appliance box under the freeway. And I'm too old to start over again."

I did speak w/him about the importance of keeping what good health we still have, and not becoming so run down or "crippling" ourselves from the stress and strain of taking care of Nannie. Who knows how long she'll be around? Or either of us, for that matter! I don't want to end up being the last one standing (or hobbling!)  He knows my concerns about his health...So...I ended it up by saying, 🤨 Just don't pizz me off; you know how I get!

Going to take a dip... not in water, but in my own sweat; hubby is out on the side patio and Nannie has dozed off in the recliner. So I will go outside and have HOT coffee in the HEAT of the day, like an idjet. But I won't stay long.

May come by again later. We'll be watching another Brave's game tonight. Maybe Nannie will go to bed early and STAY there this time! One can always hope.

Have a gud ebening, frendz! 😜 (how d'ya like my accent, or as they say it down here, "ak-sint")

Hello all!

VERY busy today.  Well, actually it was a "normal" Stress Lab schedule, however there were only two of us.  Usually it takes three ppl to manage the scheduling, interview the pts, perform the pre-stress ECGs, and do the actual stress test (be it treadmill or chemical).  We were done with the morning patients by 12:45, however none of the reports had been done yet (supposed to be done by the person actually doing the stress test), and our first afternoon patient was due at 1:30.  I sent the tech to lunch, called my partner (Case Manager) to come interview the afternoon pts, so the tech could do reports after lunch.  I had a few min to eat, then we started up again.  Our second tech, giving an ACLS refresher, was done by 2pm so he showed up to relieve my partner. We had one no-show, and everyone else did well.   Had a nice chat (after the stress test) with one of the afternoon patients and his wife.  Nice ppl.

Dh and I were waiting to hear from oldest ds re: dinner tonight but we think he is still asleep (he is a night owl, and works a night shift).  So we ate some leftover Jersey Mike's Subs and watched the second half of a Poirot.  We live SUCH an exciting lifestyle!

Dh is tracking our packages; we should receive 150 of the CDs tomorrow, and the balance by Friday!  We are so excited!

Is it only Monday???

The band is scheduled to do three songs at the Calimesa SDA Church on Sabbath (Saturday), for both services (0830 and 1115).  This is fiddler's home church, and it is the first weekend of their campmeeting services.  After church we will probably have a nice band dinner somewhere.  Looking forward to all of it!

Hope you have a good evening!

Game's over and we lost. Booooo!😫

Nannie went to bed early, but she was restless and doing the verbal salad thing. We had to go into her room 4-5 times, each time telling her she'd had extra medicine to make her feel better (an out and out lie) and that she should try to rest quietly and let it do its job.

She finally fell off to sleep just before we watched Johnny Carson and then a truncated Carol Burnett show. By which I mean, oddly edited bits and skits of different shows. Some of her show had quite the big deal with productions

The best fun with Johnny Carson's shows, they are from 1970's, so the hair-dos and clothes fashions are quite interesting and nowadays would be retro. Except these are the real deal, not some designer's ideas of the decade's styles. Plus, all the guests are so young and slender, I'm constantly saying "Wow, look at him/her!" and remembering when it was so for me. And knowing now, that many of them have aged, same as me!  ... I find it oddly encouraging, somehow.

The dogs FINALLY get washed and trimmed tomorrow. Ozzie's tail is a horror of long knots and short knotssssssssssssss; I have no idea he got his tail in that shape, don't believe I've seen it this bad in 12 years! I hope he doesn't end up with a balded tail. Wouldn't want to hurt his dignity by laughing at such a pitiful sight.

Time to put down the lap top and pick up something with printed paper pages. I like to read until I get those ghost-doubles just shadowing the words...then when no amount of squinting makes it clearer, I know it's time to put out the light.

12:09 AM....so, Good morning!
